  1. I've got GameEx 8.08 ready with the new favorites and database system. It should automatically upgrade, but can I have some of the regulars test for me please? Obviously backup first, and let me know how it goes. Also check out the new statistics under More Games & Programs. Please help and give this release a try http://tomspeirs.com/gameexsetup.exe Thanks.
  2. Well, like I said Im going to have them convert over now. Probably even be transparent (auto upgrade). In regards to the messing up, there should be a lot less of that happennig with the new system, and it will allow a proper statistics system, which could be cool....
  3. Actually, I am going to try and do something. I decided its not acceptable otherwise. There's also a few nice little bonuses in store, stuch as statistics reports in GameEx and GameExtender.
  4. OK, the way I originally coded the favorites and games statistics system was a real mess. I'm currently rewriting the entire system to use an MS Access database. This will mean it will be really easy to manage data move favorites to another pc, back them up, and have a back end into this system, that people other than me can actually use and understand. It should mean you wont loose data in the future and if your emulators change etc a few queries on the database should fix things up. HOWEVER: Unfortunatly theres not an easy way to updgrade the old system to the new system, like I said it was a mess, and I should know better being a software archicect. What this means is with the next release you will loose all current favorites. I have tried to find a way to upgrade this data, but its just not easy to do at all. I'm really sorry about this but going forward it should be done, for a better developed GameEx and for the sake of your data. Your MAME favorites can still be imported from Favorites.ini Again I'm sorry about this, I know some of you have spent days setting up favorites. Tom

    Favorites

Its funny you should mention that, I'm actually redoing the way GameEx handles favorites right now, and storing them in an access database, which will make it much easier to manage favorites from a backend perspective.

    GameEx 8.07

It was a fix to an issue on a few systems where GameEx would not launch from Windows Media Center. In general if there's no release notes its a very minor bug fix or tweak.
  7. Just for your info, a common misconception is that GameEx uses Windows Media Player for playing videos and DVD's, in fact it does not - it uses DirectX.

    Two Bugs.

It sounds like you might be using an old version and this bug might now be fixed, as Im pretty sure I fixed the snap shot issue a while back. Can you post your full log?
  9. Can you try the default theme.
  10. Please post your gameex log.
  11. Adultry, would you mind doing some private testing with me on this. If so could you email please? Thanks a lot. Tom.
  12. Already done years a go - InstantSheller.
  13. Can you post your log please. I did fix an issue with Karoake which meant it did not work at all, so this might be something else.
  14. Try Google, but for your info theres two ways of doing it, theres one way which involves hacking windows which can cause problems, or doing it the way Microsoft allows you to do it by modifying boot.ini.
  15. Its actually not a cname record try any sub domain and yourll see, im just trying to start troubleshoot this, but yes it is a standard call to port 80. Ill get to back to you shortly on this.
  16. Try deleting all the Bitmap (BMP) files in c:\program files\gameex\data
  17. Thanks for reporting, Ill try to get that fixed. Tom
  18. Scorpius, you shouldnt have a problem, but please contact me directly about anything to do with registration. Im locking this thread. you can email me at [email protected] Thanks. Tom

Fixes screensaver detecting input and exiting when there is not any input Fixes Karaoke re-enabling Jukebox when its disabled
  22. I'm not quite sure whats going on with your setup. I tried disabling Most Played and Favorites and it worked without issue. Perhaps you can provide a little more detail about your setup, and upgrade history etc? Thanks. Tom.
  23. Here is basically how you would do it with GameEx's new CD and emulator group functionality. Very top level, and not quick to do: You would setup an emulator for each cd, you would need to create a map file for each emulator (CD) and use it. Set up the CD check to check for a unique file for each emulator. Then put all the emulators into an Emulator group.
  24. This should hopefully be fixed in 8.05. Can you try it for me please? If it's still an issue can you post your log. Thanks. Tom
  25. do you think its appropriate to bump bugs and feature requests that require hard coding work only after 6 days?
