  1. I'd say there's a good chance most of us here in between 40 and 60 have had these brain rattling moments. It's the power and persuasion of nostalgia that keeps us longing for more of a time in life we will never be able to fully regain, not even on a Switch. https://kotaku.com/the-forgotten-video-game-memories-hiding-in-our-brains-1835327921
  2. Performance has never been the most compelling reason to go with the pi, it's the vast community support on so many avenues. I would think that this performance boost should only serve to further that.
  3. I don't use xpadder, so I don't know enough to comment. It just seems odd that once this was introduced that things went south and now it seemingly won't go back the where it was even if you remove the configuration change. You might want to try and install GameEx back over itself and see if it's just a hiccup, which is how the updating process works. Alternatively, wait see if anyone else chimes in that has perhaps experienced what you are currently.
  4. If it just started with the addition of the button and the key mapping then it sure sounds to me like the likely culprit is a conflict of key strokes. Try this, when it locks up do a cntrl>alt>delete, but then just X out of the task manager without doing anything and tab through until you get back to GameEx and see if it resumes working normally.
  5. Sounds like it's crashing as it tries to rebuild the GameEx GUI. Has anything occurred that would affect DirectX on this machine? Tom has pointed out in the past it could be a conflict key between MAME and GameEx, you might want to check for this. As always, update GameEx after any changes.
  6. Please post your log immediately following the occurrence as well as your gameex.ini for review.

    The C64

Saw this in a post by skeetbud and thought I'd share it here.
  8. Did you get the most recent 0.207 version? It's always a good idea to match this with your MAME release and the version in the repository is an older release. These type files aren't maintained here to represent the current release as they originate elsewhere.
  9. Certainly ups the ante in our hobby! https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/06/faster-raspberry-pi-4-promises-desktop-class-performance/ A little more detail in this one.

  11. My current project is staining the patio and putting up a ceiling fan, Exciting stuff to be sure, but fairly lacking compared to coding a new frontend I've wondered where you disappeared to!
  12. For all you optimists out there.....
  13. Same here, although I don't have a problem emulating it since I have a yoke. What intrigues me is that the yoke in the demo unit looks really authentic, all the way down to the brass bushings where the controller meets the frame. Alan1 has already dropped their price $100. While unlikely, it would be awesome if they struck a deal on a bulk purchase of these for this cab. If so, I'm in.......Dream big, right!
  14. Saw this in a thread I've been following elsewhere and given the particular game, couldn't resist posting. https://www.destructoid.com/classic-atari-star-wars-arcade-games-are-back-in-this-new-arcade1up-cabinet-557246.phtml I get that these machines aren't for everybody, but I have seen some nice home arcades from some of the fellows who are really going all out with these. These complement their emu setups and gives them a pretty badass miniature arcade in the process that not so techie types (friends and family) can easily enjoy minus the learning curve and intimidating nature of the emu world to newbs.
  15. Sort of makes you wonder what previous "fix" 1903 removed or repaired, doesn't it?

  17. Two New Models Reportedly In Production
  18. that works like any other Ryzen The $750 Ryzen 9 3950X is coming this September, and it fits into an AM4 motherboard I hope this hits Intel where it hurts and brings competition back to the market. Intel has been lazy and greedy since the took the lead back. Go AMD! https://www.pcworld.com/article/3401086/amds-ryzen-9-3950x-is-a-16-core-cpu-aiming-to-topple-intels-gaming-dominance.html
  19. Yep, Nintendo proved that you could neglect your fans by dropping a handful of units (comparatively speaking) and watch everyone go nuts over them, so now everyone releases them in bulk and floods the market with this landfill. I'll take the real thing over any of these minis, although the SNES almost turned me to the dark side.
  20. Your too much Terry! This is my favorite table that you've highlighted over the years and really makes me wish they would have followed through on the sequel.
  21. Somebody has figured it out!
