  1. I just really don't see how it could have been done any differently given how much of the story took place in the OASIS. I enjoyed the CGI parts of RPO and felt they were done extremely well. What I didn't like was the changing of the story and the slicing off of so much of the content. I've said it many times, but it really should have been a two or three part movie with much more effort spent trying to get everyone on board with idea of benefiting from having their respective IP being showcased in the movie. Let's face it, many of these companies weren't exactly common household names in 2018 and sill aren't. Being part of the movie could've catapulted them into the retro craze, but instead they are left on the sidelines. Ultraman alone could have used it to kick off a new movie, which I'm amazed hasn't been done. Ultimately it was the immersiveness of the Ready Player One story that sucked me in, and the movie had none of that.
  2. A lot get's rehashed in many of these, but this one had some new twists, or well at least for me it did.
  3. I got mine week before last week in good overall condition, especially considering it came from the UK. Just some minor bruising on the corners. I knew this going in, but it's nothing at all like the other retro books in my collection, glad I picked it up too!

  5. Wow strange how this was was just in limbo and one of the few to miss the mainstream consoles. It looks like a decent game to me and one I'll give a go after seeing this, which would not have been the case otherwise. I agree with you about the color selection!
  6. I browsed the entire book over the weekend and it's an entirely different book, even smaller actually. It's almost like someone realized potential had been left on the table and went back to take it to the next level, glad I picked it up! The pin-holing is there, but I probably notice it more than others due to my background in commercial printing. Some of the solid backgrounds are were it is the worst, but they are very small and I didn't notice any big fish eye's or anything so I'll leave well enough alone.

  9. Cherry Cola is one of life's great mysteries, the fiber that weaves and networks the secrets to HDR bliss These aren't simply any off the shelf cable, no sir, you have to wait for the cargo ship to enjoy his puppy. It's in the container marked Monoprice OEM retail products.
  10. Art of Atari is part of the buy one get one 50% off deal at Amazon. Amazon Promotion
  11. Oh wow, that looks like a nice piece!
  12. geesh........ If you're going to just throw money away, at least throw it in my direction, please!
  13. I stumbled upon this in the most unusual of ways, but if this is your thing, then don't sit on the fence! These appear to be limited to remaining stock: Get 2, get free shipping and still get it for less than one anywhere else I've found so far. When I found this deal yesterday it was $49.99 at Amazon, but it appears they are matching Target. Anyway, more details and pics over on Amazon.
  14. For a moment last night while sitting in my computer chair I ignored the fact I have stacks of games I've yet to install; much less time to play, and pressed the "place order" button on Steam for Empire at War. After reading and watching several reviews I'm pretty surprised to see how this one has held up over time. I nearly bought it when it came out, but seeing the developer and community support this is still getting pushed me over the edge 15 years later. I figure I'll be able to at least hit up some campaign action every week or so and man does this thing look amazing on my triple monitor setup Perhaps this game will prove justification for actually buying three of them
  15. If your eying Empire at War Gold Pack, then grab it from Steam instead. https://www.pcgamesn.com/star-wars-empire-at-war-gold-pack/patch-notes-2021
  16. At one point I had many of the oldies, but started selling them off back in the 98SE days. I picked up Racer last year during this sale, but haven't even tried it. I will say this, go read their forums for tips about how to install it and set it up beforehand, apparently it's real picky about initial setup.

  18. Ahh, the good ole days! I recall someone turning me on to Republic Commando a long time ago now, another decent game from the prequel days like Racer.

  20. I've only had time to really skim the first fifteen or so pages, but it's a different book, in a good way. In just those few pages I noticed a good bit of pin-holing in some of the solid backgrounds, hopefully this isn't wide spread.
  21. My copy arrived in acceptable condition, although I surprised it wasn't severely damaged. It was shrink wrapped in micro-bubble pack, then placed into a box that would have held six of these books with no additional packaging. This is something I would expect from half-ass Amazon shipping methods.
  22. It will download video snaps from EmuMovies if you input your account information into the GameEx setup wizard. If you have a free account this will take longer due to the daily download limitation EmuMovies has in place for free users. Unless something has changed that I'm unaware of; and I don't think it has, then the repository here doesn't contain any of these snaps. The repository is aimed at an entirely different purpose, one mainly built around pulling down selected emulators, themes, etc. based on user made choices during the completing the setup wizard steps. Tom has been nice enough to put up some system packs to fill the need on some systems though, but these are not completist type collections.
  23. Wow, probably my age showing.
