My plans to test this back over Thanksgiving holiday never happend, so I took advantage of some free time today to give it another go. I deleted all my prior installs and directories to get a fresh start. I also uninstalled MC64, and downloaded and installed a fresh copy, below are my results. I created a MinGW folder and in it source and patches sub-folders, so the directory structure is just as shown on the MC64 homepage. Upon opening and clicking the downloads tab it was still showing 0.155 I clicked download file list twice and suddenly this changed to 0.156 For this exercise, I just compiiled 0.156 (I'll do 0.157 later) I then checked: Mame 0.156 (downloaded and extracted to source folder without issue) Hiscore dif (downloaded hi_155_2.txt into patches folder without issue) Note: hi_155_2.txt is correct for 0.155 and 0.156 Bezel Patch (operation timed out) MinGW (downloaded and extracted to MinGW folder without issue) Compiled without errors 22 minutes 47 seconds Hiscore diff successfully applied As always, thanks headkaze for providing us with this extremely useful tool!

Thanks Dazzle....I went back and did some digging and realized my mistake. Didn't mean to pull the rug on you, figured nobody had read my last post, and was wrong.

I'll preface this by mentioning I've never attempted any sort of theme editing, or fiddling about inside the themes.ini file, but what you are describing is not normal behavior. Granted another member just recently posted with similar "returning to default themes" problems, to which no resolution has currently been found and/or confirmed. I have however tried and used so many of the themes, I couldn't tell you how many, and I have never encountered the issue you are experiencing. I believe this may be one of the reasons this thread isn't seeing many responses, but many times the right answer comes from a member who only logs in once a week or so. The only suggestion I have is downloading a new copy of the current release and simply reinstalling it. It sounds like something has become corrupted, and this may correct it. This should go off without a hitch, but it's always good to maintain a backup.

FWIW, I get prompted too for Lame. To clarify: I first tried this when I saw Draco's post, but I was using Audio Converter, helps to read the title huh I got a similar licensing message, but got side tracked while looking into it. I just did it again, and realized I should have been using CD Ripper, and was prompted.

I did a pretty thorough search for it this morning, and found an abandonware site that had probably every piece of software they produced, except this one. I hope you find it!

Can't hurt trying this, right click your GameEx shortcut and run as administrator, and try again. If that doesn't get it, have you tried manually installing one? I'm running this one.

Have you checked your display settings to make sure this isn't a result from a aspect ratio setting? For larger displays you want "just scan" or something similar so you do not get any over/under scan.

I don't run this one, but your description sure makes it sound like a problem with nulldc. I would suggest you post your log.txt in hopes it provides some clues.

Yep, the file and all are correct, but when you play it shows r3991 in the lower right hand corner. This was mentioned either in one of the spinner videos I mentioned above, or in a thread I was reading, can't recall, but thought I would mention it so everyone wouldn't be caught off by it when they played.

Note that the current release is r3991, even though r3992 is in the file name. No installation is necessary, you play it right from the extracted folder. It's pretty cool too!
