  1. Well, it's gonna be a long year, 20 days, 12 hours 28 minutes, and 7 seconds
  2. I just read this the other day, and while not an official celebration, I found it interesting regardless.
  3. I'm in for sure Thanks man!
  4. This is my opinion only, but go grab vanilla 0.155s (unless you've moved onto 0.156) better yet use headkaze's new compiler add the hi_score diff to your downloads prefrences, compile, apply the diff, and let it do the work for you. I've just had so many better results with vanilla mame, and judging from many others, so have they, so unless you have a specific reason to run MAMEUI, don't IMO.
  5. Well, when it's enabled it causes each rom to be checked and verified, which many time results in lots of them not showing, as they didn't pass verfication.
  6. Is "Verify Roms" enabled? If so disable it and update. Doh, guess I could have looked myself.
  7. Ah, so playing them on teh Pinacab now, I bet that is really cool, and having the wife like 'em is a nice bonus! I haven't got much gaming time in as of late, in fact I just logged into steam for the first time in a good while right before seeing this thread.
  8. Every year I get older, life seemingly presents more hurdles, as I'm sure it does for everyone. I've made some great friends here, and for that I'm thankful! I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, no matter how you celebrate it!
  9. Yep, I plan to make time over the long weekend to compile it, only this time only trying auto download the hi_score diff alone, to see if I have the same results. If it works, I'll ditch it and try it again with the hi and cp diffs both getting downloaed. I'll be sure to report back, because there is always that high probability that it's something I did that caused the problem last go around!
  10. Will have to knock aside a few cobwebs a bit on this for sure As soon as stigzler has time to update the spreadsheet, I'll start hunting! <edit> I know you got other irons in the fire stigzler, so if you can fix me up on the spread sheet, I'll be happy to do my best to take care of these.
  11. Not sure if there is any interest in this here, but quikah posted this over in the deals forum at anandtech. Requires Windows 8, Windowsphone or Windows 10 preview. Install the "Music Deals" app. Scroll down to "Holiday Freebies" and get downloading. Normally these free music deals are rather hohum, either aging rockers trying to peddle their new album or blah pop artists. But this, holy cow, everything from pop to rock classics. They are DRM free 320 Kbps mp3. here is a sampling: Jessie J – Sweet Talker (Deluxe) Imagine Dragons – Night Visions (Deluxe) Eminem – Recovery (Explicit) U2 – The Joshua Tree (Deluxe, Remastered) Norah Jones – Come Away With Me Rolling Stones – Let It Bleed Kanye West – 808s & Heartbreak Linkin Park – A Thousand Suns Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – The Heist (Deluxe) Eagles – The Long Run (Remastered) Stone Temple Pilots – Purple Fun – Some Nights Lady Gaga – The Fame John Lennon – Imagine (2010 Remaster) Smashing Pumpkins – Siamese Dream (Deluxe) Rihanna – Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded Weezer – Blue Album (Deluxe) The Weeknd – Trilogy Katy Perry – The Complete Confection Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin (Remastered) There is a "Must-Have Box Sets" category with $1.99 boxsets: The Who Prince Led Zeppelin R.E.M. Rolling Stones and more!
  12. With an endorsement like that, I couldn't pass!
  13. There has to be some takers on this one! I'm not what you'd call a huge SEGA fan, but you can never have enough in your steam library, right?
  14. While you can accomplish what you are looking to do, it will blow the aspect ratio all to pieces, Since this is something I don't do, I won't comment, but while I sure you can customize your resolution on an individual game basis, all your going to be doing is stretching and distorting the image on a 16 x 9 display. MAME is retaining the aspect ratio within your display, hence the bars. <edit> If you happen to be playing on a large display like I do on my LCD TV, then be sure you're not getting over or under scan, On Samsung models for instance there is a "P" button on the remote that you can press to toggle through the various ratio's. Basically make sure you're get 1:1 ratio, or "Just Scan" on some TV's.
  15. cd.. followed by enter repeat until your at a c prompt.
  16. Enter your native screen resolution in the display settings.
  17. So your rom set is 0.145 as well? 0.145 is just offered in the setup wizard because that's what was current then, and it really makes no sense to update such minor things, as it is always changing. Personally, I recommend you stay current with MAME, but this involves some work, and a good bit of effort if you keep everything up to date. create an .ini yourself Open a command prompt Change to the directory you put mame in, i.e. C:\mame, since you'll most likely be greeted with your user directory, you will need to drop down to the root directory if you installed in "C" as in the example. cd.. cd.. until you're there. type mame -cc (there is a space between mame and -cc) This will generate a mame.ini. in your mame directory. Likely, you will need to change your folder view options to show known file extensions so you can see the .ini
  18. Not sure it's all the helpful this late, but I just updated everything, and sent you an invite. I have to finish up a few things, but I'll be checking in.
  19. Would logging out of GameEx online, or exiting GameEx end the session?
  20. I did fire-up GameEx, but I must have just overlooked it. I'll try again when I get home tonight.
  21. I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, and I was going send you an invite before I left for the office, but I don't see "settings" in my GameEx account.
  22. Everything above, exactly! (disclaimer: you very well already know this, but just in case) If you have the "Extras" be sure to put them in the appropriate paths/folders as well. This adds greatly to the experience when browsing your collection, and gives you lots of bonus material that makes everything just that much better. If you haven't got snaps, be sure to check into those too over at emumovies, it's the icing on the cake!
  23. If anybody can screw it up, it's EA! Granted they seem to be coming around, at least a little bit with Origin. I'm still amazed they give anything away, so there is hope that they are trying to control some of the hate. I would love to see some dark forces titles too.
  24. Perhaps it's just me, but doesn't it seem odd that a year has already passed since this?
  25. Just wanted to say that I think this is a great release, one that represents a big step forward IMO. I dumped everything that I just complied, just to give this a good clean run. The only issue I ran into was pulling down the hiscore diff. First go, it pulled down and extracted source, then hung. I gave it another go and since the next step was the hiscore diff, it hung again, so obviously for some reason it wasn't playing well with this particular diff. I unchecked the hiscore diff, and the cp diff and mingw files were downloaded and extracted without issue. Once this once complete I did the hiscore download seperately, and it worked fine. Not sure why that is, but it was nothing more than a minor inconvenience. Note that I did not test the mameui portion. For reference I'm running Win 8.1, 64 bit, 8 GB RAM with a Q9550 If you haven't already done so, you owe to yourself try this great application! Thanks headkaze
