  1. No, don't do anything rash. I need to know a couple things quick. Do you maybe have GameEx installed in two different places? First look here: C:/GameEx Then look here: C:/Program Files/GameEx Also, go to Start/GameEx/Advanced Configuration, go to the last page under Advanced MAME Settings, and check the field that says 'Manually Filter These ROMs' to make sure it's not there. Another thing I want you to try if this doesn't work, under the advanced config again, in advanced MAME settings, add this ROM to the list that says 'do not filter these roms' and update your list once again. Does the game show up? If not, run any MAME game, then go to the start menu again, in the GameEx folder and click on run last game. Does it run the game you just played? We'll try everything!
  2. Does this method just use your electric wiring in your house to make your network instead of using a hub? Wish I would have thought about that, but I already have my house wired now. It was probably a lot cheaper in the long run (although a big roll of Cat-5e and your own tools really made it possible for a low price and adds value to my house since every room is wired now).
  3. ^^That's what I did when it wouldn't work for me using the other EXE. With MAMEHub, now it works perfectly! It creates configs and runs games like it should. Wonder why the other EXE never worked for me but this one does? Oh well, at least it works!
  4. This has been resolved by removing custom lists from GameEx. Hope it helps someone!
  5. If it was manually deleted that's where it would go for sure. If there's nothing in that list, GameEx will not filter it when you updated that list, and the changes to excluded ROMs won't commit until after the list is updated again.
  6. Fixed it! I removed my custom lists and the filters work perfectly now. This resolves a long time problem for me. I'll see if I can find the original thread and post the solution in there. Thanks for the help Tom!
  7. @Tom: Oh snap! I forgot I had turned the brackets on because I have clones showing up and that makes it so I have a bunch of the same ROMs and I needed the brackets to distinguish which is which. Sorry about that... It's that my filters aren't working that forced me to enable this. My brackets are indeed removed (but the other problem is still present).
  8. OK. I am going to run a list update with the new settings. I update catver.ini along with all my support files everytime I update my MAME build. I have attached the zip below. I turned brackets off when I was trying stuff out to get it to work before. I'll post back when I'm done updating the list.
  9. It just doesn't support that extension (the forum I mean). You can just zip it in the future.
  10. More like sadness! I miss my nice clean list. But when the new mobo comes together I'll take the time and manually remove them, maybe even create a MAP file.
  11. @Tom: You should already have my ini and it has this problem as well as not filtering clones, adult games, and mahjong.
  12. Great thanks. I'm here to test further if you need me! Oh and the weather works too by the way. Only problem there is when I go to settings and try to type in my ZIP code I need to go through symbols to get to the 1 and it adds all the symbols instead of stopping where I want it to like the other ones do (like this: 4746!@#$1). While we're on the subject!
  13. I thought the singles view might be more effective in my case... There aren't too many cases where I like a whole CD anyways, and I was really hoping for a more retro feel with modern components if you know what I mean. I should be able to build a panel with extra buttons I ordered and looking at that I only need 14 or so buttons, a power switch, and an iPac2 (it will be in juke mode all the time unless I reboot, and I can use a mouse in the external USB hub I'll cut into the side of the box with the card reader). I think my AMD Sempron 3000+ board can handle most of the load (the board only supports 1GB of RAM), and it will run XP as an OS. I will also be using a PCI card for the video if this thing isn't too demanding visually. I was also gonna build in the X-Fi external sound card I already have laying around doing nothing so I have volume control mounted outside the box as opposed to doing it with a button on the CP (haven't fully decided how I want to handle this yet). I was also wondering if it had some sort of screen saver for when it's not playing music? Random music playing like the bars do wouldn't be a good thing in my situation, and it would be nice if it did something while it was idle. Like I mentioned earlier, I will be leaving it go all the time anyways (maybe the monitor goes to sleep or something?) Also, is network sharing out of the question with this software? Currently my library streams all over the house from my arcade cabinet. Not that a nice beefy HDD is expensive nowadays anyways... I think that covers everything! Thanks again for all your help.
  14. My only worry on this is why would it work outside of GameEx and not within it? When you pull up the menu with the TAB key, can you even enable the cheats or does it say CHEATS: OFF like MAME does? Never used this build before so don't be mad I asked!
  15. OK, here's what I've observed using this EXE: The web browser now works correctly, but for some reason when I view the forum here through the news link, GameEx seems to take focus from the web browser because I can't seem to click on any links and I can hear my sound effects clicking in places where the list is behind the browser ( I have a Mario coin sound when moving down the list and I can hear this sound trying to move the mouse over the page). YouTube videos play but the video is super laggy although the sound seems to be on point. Unfortunately my GameEx still crashes out when I try to exit out of a video. When returning from attract mode, the mouse pointer disappears again. It was working before this test, although it only started working the last two or three builds ago (as in I've seen the exact same thing happen before). Now when I click something it must be behind GameEx because the list selection moves where the cursor would be if it were on top, and clicking anything gives Windows focus and minimizes GameEx. Once I maximize GameEx again, the cursor comes back up. Arrows on the keyboard seem to work when the cursor disappears, and the select button works if I use the enter key instead of clicking. I think that covers everything I've noticed so far.
  16. She's a no go.
  17. Just for curiosity's sake, does the INI show which filters are turned on? If so perhaps posting that would be of some help? I know the log doesn't show this information in it, but never really examined the GameEx.ini before.
  18. I'm with that recommendation!
  19. Not 100% on this but don't you need quotes? -> "%{ENTER}"
  20. Could you please post your log after running a MAME game? It would help a lot.
  21. Ahh you just answered one of them! Although I was thinking I could just get a big HDD for it and install a card reader or USB ports on the outside to get around that problem. Is it a resource hog? Also, do I get to pick the singles that go together or does it just mix them based on artist using the ID3 tags?
  22. My videos are currently just XviD videos I ripped and converted myself. I shall have a poke around and see if these changes help me out any... Although I fear this all may be related to the crashing that happens when I try and run YouTube and browser stuff. Not sure on that though. Although it seems to me that this is confined to apps that use the desktop in some way if that even makes sense at all. My Shark007 codecs are indeed up to date (I just checked). Anyways, here's the INI as promised. If you need anything else, you know where to find me! .:EDIT:. I noticed that the media player (WMP) is using FFDShow to decode the audio and video, if that makes a difference at all. .:EDIT #2:. @HK: After playing around with all the settings you suggested it still crashes GameEx.
  23. It happened to me on two different cards, one was a PCI card and the other was an AGP card. Different brands. I'll look them up on Amaxon quick so I can tell you the names of each. AGP: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4650 1GB PCI: PNY GeForce 8400GS 512MB The AGP card is the one I currently use, which uses Catalyst.
  24. Make sure it's PNG or JPEG if you need to add one! ;-)
