  1. There are other things that may need to be changed in the .inf file as well, such as Time Zone, Keyboard and other language defaults before it is put to use. I would also caution that, unless you are really Windows savvy and can troubleshoot your install accordingly, you may want to stick with a standard installation. Support for GameEx on a heavily customized install is somewhat limited as we haven't often the time or ability to troubleshoot what you may have left out that was needed. We will do our best, of course, but sometimes the suggested remedy is to use a full installation.
  2. Anytime, bro!
  3. I started a thread regarding Custom Menus here. The main thing to keep in mind is that you always have items within a menu - sounds basic, eh? Some, however get hung up with this. In a nutshell, here is part of how I have mine ordered as follows: START (Menu) - Arcade (Menu) - MAME, Daphne, GameEx Flash Arcade Online (Items) - Pinball (Menu) - Future Pinball, Visual PinMAME, Visual Pinball (Items) - Consoles (Menu) - Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Bally Astrocade, Coleco Vision, Fairchild Channel F, Mattel Intellivision, Nintendo NES, Nintendo SNES, Nintendo N64 (Items) - Handhelds (Menu) - Nintendo Game Boy, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, Nintendo Game Boy Color, Nintendo Virtual Boy, Sega Game Gear - Fruit Machines (Menu) - BFM, MFME (Items) - PC Systems (Menu) - DOS Box, FICS / BabasChess, Flash Games, Game Launcher, ScummVM, Steam, Z-Code Interactive Fiction (Items) - Favorites (Item) - Multimedia (Menu) - Search, Pictures (Items), eBook Readers (Menu) - ebook reader, Nook, Kindle (Items) As you can see, you can nest additional menus within a menu, and items within any, but you always must have a menu to which you may assign and item. This setup works well for me, however, only you can decide what works best for you and you will tweak it a few times! Best to get out a pen/pencil and paper and map it out, input it to the Custom Menus, assign your custom logos and the like. It will take you a little time but I think that you may like it in the end as you have made it yours and not like 90% of the rest using out of the box organization! Not that there is anything wrong with that if that is what someone prefers, but why not be a 10%er?
  4. Just thought this was a good one.. I went the old fashioned route and loudly read Dr. Seuess' "I Am Not Going To Get Up Today!" to them!
  5. Kids? No.. they are better than that! Except for the fact we can't train them to use the toilet.
  6. You've definitely outlived much of the competition! Seems that a quite a few that "left the fold" are coming back to bask in the latest greatness! Good job!
  7. She is a thing of beauty! Thanks, Tom!
  8. For those using my logo packs here is Taito Type X with KOF characters. Enjoy!
  9. Sorry to hear about Calvin. We have lost several fur babies over the last 3 years and the waterworks still occur on occasion. One was a chocolate point Siamese named Locksley and a black 7 tan Chihuahua named Verdi. Both had very distinct personalities and loved us at our best and worst. We have since added Zoey (a fawn colored Chihuahua) and Duncan (a Snowshoe cat) to our menagerie. They will never replace but they do fill some of the hole left behind by the others passing and are loved every bit as much!
  10. I hope Bumblebee was OK.
  11. Nope, works with and without custom menus enabled. I am just wondering if maybe the Directx display drivers had a little hiccup and rebooting resolved the issue.
  12. OK, color me somewhat embarrassed and a little bit confuzzled. While working on my newest theme, it appears that the functionality of the media bar is working again in fullscreen mode with Foreground Top-Most enabled. Not sure if something got a little hung up during my previous sessions to prevent it from working, but as of this morning it is working as designed. For now, handling this as a resolved issue unless it recurs.
  13. Good luck, Dave! I did not get my first New, Never been owned before Vehicle until 6 years ago. Since my teens, always bought used as I a.) could not afford new and b.) prefer to let someone else take the depreciation hit on the cost.
  14. Have heard that Atari++ is good as well.
  15. HI Neal and welcome back! You have a few questions rolled into the post so I will attempt to help as I can and others will likely chime in as well. I will likely have to answer your questions with some questions. GameEx has some built-in support but a lot depends on what you are using and how you intend to use it within GameEx. What kind of gamepad are you using? Any profiler software (Xpadder, Joy-to-Key, Logitech Profiler, etc.). Are you using a specific theme at present? Usually, you can click "Change View" until the desired background displays from within any theme, however, you will have to have the in-game videos and/or snaps for the game(s) to do so. Do you have these already? The Emulator Databases are located under the \gameex\data\emulators directory. You may need to change the rights to these files that you modify to read only to prevent them from being overwritten during updates (but I am not the expert on this so will defer to one of the more experienced forum members for a definitive answer. For C64 are you using a regular emulator or accessing through Gamebase? If accessing via Gamebase, the db is housed with in it and is not accessible as far as I am aware for editing.
  16. Enhancement request - Add Theme Used and Resolution details to Statistics - individual and on GameEx Live.
  17. It appears that Toolbar/Media Controls are not disappearing with Foreground Top-Most enabled. I have confirmed this by manipulating the settings for Display to hide toolbar and Foreground Top-Most enabled in the theme. When I disable Foreground Top-Most, the toolbar/media controls behavior is correct and only reappear upon mouse-over. Regardless of whether or not Foreground Top-Most is enabled, these elements should exhibit the same behavior in either setting.
  18. Glad you were able to get this one resolved!
  19. That is a great idea so we can make things theme specific.. Since the theme folder contains a MEDIA folder, perhaps if the enhancement pointed to that media folder instead?
  20. I wonder if you might need to use a profiler with your PS3 controller (Xpadder comes to mind)?
  21. Troy - Please upgrade to the latest version of GameEx - 12.04. Let me know if your issue is resolved following the upgrade. Thanks!
  22. @AcidBrain - Please try updating your GameEx version to the latest (12.03) and let me know if you are still having issues with your Media Controls, etc.
  23. @ehuonder - When Foreground is set to Top-most, all serviceable text elements (Title, Date, Time, Select1 & 2, List, Weather) and visual elements (Image, Image2) will reside on the middle layer below the foreground image but above the background image, unless this feature is disabled. Elements for Top Bar, Media Controls, Arrows, etc. will remain editable and, when in use, will reside in the System layer above all else. These settings will help us to minimize the amount of foreground image "cutting and cropping" for these elements to show. In the future, I would love to see us to be able to position any element up and down through various layers as needed. We currently have 2 layers to work with at present that we have direct control over the elements within. To be able to independently have control of color for each text element as well. To have the level of control I am thinking of my require a major rewrite of the Theme Editor and portions of GameEx altogether and may require more resources than some of the older systems (PCs and GPUs) can handle. I am an idea man, not a programmer so I may be wrong (and frequently am)!
  24. Thanks, Tom! 12.00-12.03 changes are going to make quite a few very happy campers - myself included!
  25. Nobody else showed - well, Aaron showed but was on Halo Reach. I as there, all by my lonesome... The bullets, the blood... how much can one take by themselves? It was a good thing never-the-less, I got to kill a few, get killed a lot, and sort through getting my headset working properly, my Xbox moved to the firewall DMZ (otherwise, moderate NATting occurs). We will try again!
