  1. Actually it is a good thing and I really think you can make it work. The only frontends that I have seen that are capable are focused on one specific emulator. Anything else I have seen that has multiple emulator support and other items have always been menu driven
  2. I think you may have misunderstood my response. You will be able to enable Custom Menus, but there will always have to be at least one Menu category so your menu will look something like this: Menu- |_Item or Games - |_All Games The program will always require a place to start and this is common with almost all programs that support multiple features. This is especially the case with frontends that support launching of multiple emulators.
  3. Ok, I see better what you are seeing. With almost any menu-driven program, you will have to have a starting menu (regardless of what you name it, be it Start, Games, etc.) before you can have an item (i.e. All Games). I still feel that this will be a workable solution for you since you have control over what items will be available to your child. I witnessed this in action by disabling the custom menus and, to be honest, I am not certain why. (Other GameEx gurus may want to take a look and provide feedback). I am sure that I am missing something, but not sure what as I do not see an option available within the Enable/Disable features of the Setup Wizard.
  4. It might be good to know what version of MAME you are running. There have been some significant changes with MAME since 0.142 was released.
  5. If you don't mind, can you provide me with a copy of your gameex.ini and custommenu.ini files? You can zip them together and upload them in reply to this message. Thanks! Mike
  6. OK, I am really drooling here... nice work! Wonder how my Space Invaders theme would look on that big screen...
  7. Looking good, although I think it is a Michelob Dark project IMO.
  8. You know how to get ahold of me if you need any assistance - although I doubt you will!
  9. You may require some real time support! LOL! I would recommend to ensure you have a good backup on the original HDD, then install GameEx, copying back what ya need from the old HDD.
  10. Good news, Andriy! I am going to mark this thread as resolved. I know you still have outstanding questions regarding the use of Custom Menus. I would like to point you to this thread I started a while back that may get you started on the journey to creating and managing Custom Menus. Once you have had a chance to review the thread, load up the Custom Menus application and respond in there with any questions you may have.
  11. That is great news! I will mark this issue as resolved. Heh, like a discombobulated analog chronometer, I am correct twice diurnally! For those easily confuzzled, that's "like a broken clock I am right twice a day."
  12. Pretty cool! You oughta blog your plans, construction steps and where you obtained your supplies, costs, etc. so that others that might be interested and review and get some guidance should they desire to make their own!
  13. You're welcome! I usually just enter the URL as part of the HTML apps instead of running web-based services as a stand-alone app and this has worked well for me. For Steam integration, you may be interested in this thread.

Glad you are in good hands, Troy! I will be interested to find out the resolution! As for the keyboard, If you have a normal keyboard with a PS2 connection it is worth a go. I have an MS gaming keyboard that is USB and have no problems, but I am not running on a cab, so there are no conflicts with any USB cards configured for a CP. If you have a spare keybaord lying abou - USB or PS2 - give it a try and let's see if you run into any problems that you are experiencing with the Saitek.
  15. Found an easier way to lay bricks - convert your image into a pattern.
  16. Do you run into any issues with Internet Explorer?
  17. Is it reverting in the Setup Wizard? Have you checked the gameex.ini? This has been an issue for quite a while and I understand how it can be confusing. As fReq noted, it is a cosmetic issue but causes no functional problems.
  18. Very nice work!
  19. I would suggest checking through the software options. Sounds like it is loading it's configuration utility (the Control Center, not the driver) and causing GameEx to lose focus. From the documentation I found here, you are not required to load the control center software. Unless you are using it, I would perhaps try uninstalling the Catalyst Control Center and see if this remedies your problem.
  20. All - I have uploaded Logo Pack #4 which Tom has graciously added to the main GameEx site. It is a fairly large file as it contains all of the logos from packs 1-3 and some more recent. All of the logos are in Photoshop .psd and GIMP .xcf formats and sorted by category. This will allow those using either Photoshop or GIMP to save the files however they need to. I have included with each .psd/.xcf the following: 1. A scan line layer that, when selected, will overlay the selected image below it. This gives the effect of monitor/TV scan lines to the image. 2. Image layers. All logo images have been sorted into separate .psd/.xcf files by category - Arcade, Console, Corporate, Emulator, GameEx Core-Misc, Handheld-Fruit Machine, PC-Pinball. 3. Color layers beneath the image layers so that the end user may "colorize" the background underlying the image as desired to fit their theme. Give them a try and let me know if you have any questions. P.S. A word of caution! If for some reason you resize your images, the scan lines will not look right. For example, if you enlarge the res form 640x480 to 800x600, the pixels will multiply for all aspects of the image, including the scan lines and they will appear too thick. Always best to use a scan line layer created fresh for the size image you will be displaying and that image should not have scan lines already in it.
  21. Thanks! More "kick ass" stuff coming soon... LOL! Of the two, I like Space Invaders the best.
  22. Can we clean-up the ini file? I know it is not a show stopper for most of us, but if it is not necessary, it looks better and doesn't confuse those whom are easily.
  23. Try clearing your cookies in Firefox.
  24. If you enable MAME Bezel in the Attract / Screensaver settings (set to Yes), GameEx will display a bezel detailing the game and showing marquee and icon images at the bottom of the screen. This only applies to MAME, unfortunately.
