  1. I would make sure that you have the latest video drivers available for your graphics adapter and OS, same for DirectX. You might need to tell us a little more about what kind of graphics adapter and monitor you are using.
  2. LMAO! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkCU68_pjK0&t=27s
  3. Just a quick thanks to everyone for the Happy Birthday wishes! I had a great day. I spent some time with family and friends - both here and at home and those were the best gifts anyone could wish for!
  4. Again, an awesome job! I think these along with your theme will make it a contest contender for certain!
  5. From what I have been reading not that difficult. Just a few pixel size and total # of frame restrictions. I can use GIMP to create the frames needed for my animations and I believe you can also convert and use just about any kind of animation clip. The first thing I thought of was you creating an opening animation of "Jumpman" Mario running on a girder and jumping barrels.
  6. Thanks!
  7. I will definitely give it a try!
  8. It's homemade jumbalya and cheesecake night! Thanks!
  9. Awesome! Thanks for the share!
  10. @Adultery - a little X-Pac for ya... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1mFPbnSb6c
  11. Thanks, all! @KK - Thanks for ruling out the possibility that I was your real dad as I hadn't my "first" until the summer I graduated. Thanks, also, for making me reminisce and relive the memory that I was a scrawny little nerdling who didn't "get any" while in high school. And what is with the "Sir?" Did my dad die? Great. Now to add worry to my embarrassment. Thanks a lot!
  12. LOL! Just stakes? No pitchforks and torches? I feel I've been skimped. Some days I feel more like 150 than 50. It is my friends and family that keep me sane and going off the rails of that crazy train called Life. Thanks, my friend! P.S. Here is a little 8-bit tribute to the Death and Darko reference!
  13. FileZilla is an excellent FTP client. I like how your icons are turning out. Keep up the good work!
  14. Hi Rene - you might want to check out the thread started by TheDevilBunny. You will need to enable GameExtender and perhaps refer to some of the other notes in that thread to get it working for you.
  15. @naborneo - I respect you as a forum member and your contributions to our community. I respect your intent and clearly understand what you were attempting to say, however, as a former mod and now an admin of the forum, I have to enforce the rules. I don't particularly care for censorship, however, if if means protecting the integrity of this forum and keeping it "off the radar" from those that look for any opportunity to go after a site that supports the emulation community, then I will do so. Rule 5 of the forum rules states "Do not talk or post links about illegal software or using software illegally. This includes commercial applications when used illegaly (cracks, warez etc), and free software when used illegaly including illegal MAME builds." That being said, it is out of the respect that I have for you and your contributions that I gave a verbal warning, as opposed to deleting the message in its entirety and issuing a ban of any duration. There are other sites and their respective admins that are not so kind and will do so without so much as a concern about you.
  16. I like the fact that they are now releasing the widescreen tracker bars which is great if one is going the HTPC route!
  17. Not sure if this is of any help but found this review from Cheapskate Gamer for ArcadeGuns.com.
  18. GameEx will generally download and install the most recent build of MAME if selected. Before GameEx, I started with the MAMEUI builds as I felt more comfortable using the GUI instead of command line options & modifying .ini file directly and use it to this day and it runs fine for me. As you become more familiar, you will learn how to update your ROM sets to the latest build specs, maybe even compiling your own to include special feature sets that allow for removing the nag screens that sometimes show due to ROMs possibly not functioning properly, game score saves, etc. There may always be some tweaks that you will have to make within GameEx to tell it where your ROMs, snaps, etc. are stored if different than the default paths. I usually set all of that up and test within my emulator first and, once satisfied, make sure that GameEx is setup properly and try it there. No frontend is going to be perfect and, often, the emulator programmer(s) will make some sort of change that will require changes to be made to compensate - by the user or by the GameEx programmers when appropriate.
  19. Sorry to hear about your craptacular day and the demise of your arcade monitor - LCD is the way to go IMHO but they are more costly in some areas for sure. The main thing is that you were alive to be a wanker as those can give a lethal shock to be sure! Once in a while you will see one of us pop-off and it is as you say. We have a passion for the hobby that runs strong and deep. You weren't the first newb to drop a note about your donation as part of your post noting a problem. I understand where Adultery was coming from as you apparently do as well and have acted likewise in the past (and may do so again - stay tuned!). I understand where you are coming from as well, so chose to ignore the post altogether to see how things shake out. To get you started, the log file is located at c:\gameex\log\log.txt while the gameex.ini is located c:\gameex\config\gameex.ini (assuming you installed GameEx to the root directory). Welcome to the GameEx forums where the passion for emulation runs deep and the shared knowledge is second to none! It is obvious that if Mamewah was the bee's F'ing knees and did all that you wanted it to you wouldn't have given GameEx a shot. (Did I really just put F'ing between a pre-modifying noun with -s genitive and an object in a post? I do speak Australian! ) But you did, and I don't think you will regret it. On my signature there are links to several threads from several "experts" on the frontend that will help guide you through troubleshooting any errors you may encounter.
  20. That's all I gotta say...
  21. I always recommend making a backup but if you download and run the install that way, your configs should be OK.
  22. I just knocked this up using some layers from another project I was working on. You are welcome to use the .xcf file for your project. Scumm.zip
