A quick question for whomever may wish to answer. What are the benefits of loading non-Steam acquired games to Steam?

This doesn't appear to be the full log file, can you upload it please? Also, have you checked your event viewer under the Admin Tools within Windows to see if there is an application error logged for the date/time the crash occurs?

Well, haven't made as much headway, in part due to work and home, but have started back at it. The theme is going through a bit of an evolution which requires a little more detail work as well as an overhaul of the logos to go with. I have ditched the formatted logos for naked ones (i.e., no frames or backgrounds, just the logos themselves). Here is an example of the latest.

In order in second pic: Gas Burner - Gas Grill - Charcoal Grill - Offset Smoker Offset smoking is the best IMO as you don't have to open the main grill and lose as much of the heat and smoke that is built-up and really helps to maintain more even temps. To date I have smoked Boston butts, ribs, and turkeys. Smoking wood of choice is the Jack Daniels barrel oak chips. I may attempt a hybrid grill/smoke of some beer can chickens in the near future.

Have you installed MAME outside of GameEx and input MAME settings with the Setup Wizard? Yiou still have to utilize the Wizard and do some input of paths, etc. regardless fr using the Lite or full version of GameEx. Please provide copies of the files Alpha has requested if you have everything setup as I noted above. Thanks!

A feature request was submitted for this (by yours truly) to assign logo files to reflect each category. I believe that someone may also have made a request to be able to toggle those search options as well. I would recommend a post in the Feature & Enhancement Requests thread.

My concern with wireless is interference with other devices that may transmit "bleed over" into the device's frequency range, USB over powerline can still run into frequency issues if you have lots of devices on the same circuit. I use a ethernet over powerline wired adapter to connect my Xbox 360 when in the living room and have little if no latency. Not sure how well the USB over powerline would compare. Based upon what I read on these specs, the wireless looks to be the better option IMHO. With the frequency range and 7 channels, especially when it will be within the same room, and the throughput, it looks like a winner.

I agree - or perhaps make the user aware of where the info is located (will likely also show in their gameex.ini file to).

I slow smoke mine with a homemade mustard-base dry rub using an offset smoker. No boiling. Fall off the bone goodness!

@Tom - I came across this about Valve's Big Picture Mode. You may want to take a look and see if this is something that should be implemented. For those of us pursuing the 10 Foot interface dream, it may have relevance.

I would recommend deciding where you want the games to show and using that method as it is not possible in the current setup to divide out on that level. i have some of the older legacy games like you mentioned (Commander Keen series) and there is a way to run them outside of Steam using the files created for the Steam distro outside of Steam (can probably Google for the workaround as I did to make it happen).

Have you looked at your logs in Event Viewer? Right Click Computer, Left Click Manage, then locate the Event Viewer under System Tools. You may be able to find something useful to help you nail down the error.

Check with Tom to see if he might have reserved the /gameex subdomain. I think this is a great idea!
