  1. Definitely be careful that your background colors are in a complimentary or neutral palette. For example, the FM Towns logo text, while somewhat brighter contrast, appears in the same color family. The Atari Jaguar text likewise blend with the red design elements behind. Using a color wheel is helpful to locate complimentary colors at a glance.
  2. Sounds good. Things that we will be able to look at are how your filters are setup and the like.
  3. When I enable Quick Resume, it will return me to the last menu I had accessed before I exited I haven't noticed one way or the other if it reloaded the dbs or not. It has been argued for both to either only load the db when the system is selected from the menu or load all at the beginning or selecting an emu. I would prefer it to load the db for the system I am selecting instead of all systems, personally.
  4. You are still showing version 12.82 installed. Have you downloaded and installed version 12.83 as I had asked sty151? Please do so and report back. Thanks!
  5. 255? OUCH! Never shut it down!
  6. I agree that it is a tad annoying, and probably more so to those that have 101 emulators setup. Better to load them upfront and get them out of the way.
  7. To be honest mine does that almost every time as well. It isn't going through your ROMS, it is loading the databases into memory. This will happen every time you start GameEx. My understanding is that it will do this less often in an "always on" scenario, such as an arcade cab setup.
  8. Updating your games or game images? We need a little more information, please! Copies of your gameex.ini and log.txt file may be in order. Thanks!
  9. @pugme - Welcome to the forums! When you are at home, if you wouldn't mind uploading the gameex.ini and log.txt files in reply to this thread and we will be glad to help you to resolve what is going on with your setup. Thanks!
  10. Here is a better example of the update...
  11. It replaces the default Tapper gif is all. I haven't tried using gif animations on the loading windows.
  12. Still working on details and more details.. here is an animated gif that runs when GameEx is performing a version update:
  13. I tell ya what, if I had a classic machine I doubt that I would put it out for the public to play for a weekend! Would be akin to letting my son drive my Plum Crazy 'Cuda to deliver newspapers (that is if I had one, which I don't. But even if I did, just would not happen!). Good luck, though! Would be pretty cool to see.
  14. I would guess that the program is hard-coded to look for the Japanese name. Not sure how to go about a workaround on this. I would imagine that you are not the first to encounter. Have you searched to see if someone may have created a loader for these (similar to the TypeX games)? EDIT: Did you see this about an English locale version?
  15. That is awesome! Yeah, I read the thread and he wasn't forthcoming with the details of his setup other than it all being the latest. That said, his version may not be compatible with "the latest" stuff.

    R.I.P!

Please accept and pass along our condolences for your family's loss. It's never easy and, no matter how you try, you cannot prepare for it.
  17. I don't know if you did it or if it was on the cart box or advert, but it looks like the Recognizer is trying to squeeze Tron's head!
  18. @ClassicGMR - keep in mind that there are four settings to display the snaps as you toggle through Change View. 2 sizes each of snap thumbnails and 2 sizes each of video thumbnails. The video thumbnails are fine so long as you have a faster system. Otherwise, you may notice a little lag on your system.
  19. Coverflow or similar type of display would require changes within the display engine proper. I would say it is within the realm of possibility but that would be up to the authors to research and implement. I have requested it previously.
  20. @HK - are there any runtime redistributables (VC++ 2010) that are installed with the update? Taking an uneducated stab in the dark here.
  21. I second Stu's recommendation. GameEx development continues to gain steam (pun intended as we just added Steam integration!). Using GameEx with MCE or XBMC can only be a win-win for anyone inclined to do so.
  22. Welcome to the forums. To better help you out, please upload a copy of your gameex.ini and log.txt files. Thanks!
  23. Heh!
  24. You can submit more than one. Only one will be chosen when the time comes for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd prize however (only one prize per person).
  25. GameEx will download the emulators for you. XBMC is an HTPC solution and can be used as a front-end through the use of plugins. Not sure how you can get away with not setting up the emulators to work through XBMC without some work on the outside within the emulators themeselves. In either case, you have to do some fine -tuning and tweaking as neither XBMC or GameEx do so "automagically" so I guess I am not quite understanding of what you are attempting to do.
