  1. Good to hear! Thanks for reporting back with your results!
  2. Visual Pinball X version/release candidate?
  3. Did you move your MAME theme and media from the original \GameEx Arcade Edition\themes folder to \gameex\themes ? My understanding is that upon update or install of the latest GameEx installer it should recognize existing separate installs (from 18.87 prior) and update accordingly instead of manually forcing the move of any configuration files or media. I will need @Tom Speirsconfirmation and clarification of my understanding/misunderstanding.
  4. Anytime! Be sure to share your work! I am interested in how you address the issue!
  5. It is mostly about the image's aspect ratio and nothing to do with GameEx or MAME and more likely Windows. For example, your display of 1920x320 is a 6:1 aspect ratio (or 6 pixels length for every 1 pixel of height in proportion). An image that is 1200x290 is 4.14:1. As you can see, there is a 2 pixel difference in the length proportion. Some minor scaling is likely taking place to fill the aspect ratio of the monitor as a 4:1 ratio is kinda close to 6:1 and probably not really noticeable thus filling the monitor. On the other hand, let's assume that you have an image that is 1200x400. That is a 3:1 ratio, half of the length of your display's aspect ratio of 6:1. It will center the image based upon the height of the image with the ends "cropped." You can see this in action when using the Center option for displaying a windows background that does not fit the aspect ratio of the monitor (say an 800x600 image on a 1920x1080 monitor - 4:3 vs. 16:9. I have seen where some users have used a background image that fits their monitor as an underlay and leveraged some sort of batch bulk processing through a graphics program (Photoshop or GIMP) to grab the marquee images and center them atop, thus creating some continuity with a theme. As an example, here is a link to a project I did - manually mind you, with a hexed theme for pincab topper videos primarily but a similar thing can be done with still images - A good online calculator and explanation of aspect ratios - Furey, Edward "Aspect Ratio Calculator" at https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/technology/aspect-ratio-calculator.php from CalculatorSoup, https://www.calculatorsoup.com - Online Calculators I hope this is of help.
  6. All settings should move over to the latest. I do recommend that, since the latest version is more than just versions removed from 18.87, that you backup your configuration files.
  7. I split this to its own topic. Going forward please open a new thread instead of tagging on to a thread in triage progress unless asked. It may be the same issue, but sometimes not and it muddies the progress with too many conversations at once. Thank you. Probable related topic -
  8. Please attach copies of your pinballx.ini and log.txt files when reporting an error. Also, please note what version and release candidate of VPX you are using and if the error is occurring with one or more tables. Thanks.
  9. FEATURE REQUEST: Replace Origin support with EA App within GameEx and GameEx Arcade Editions. As of mid-April 2025, Origin will no longer be supported and EA App will be the default app. Any PC users still using Origin will need to switch in order to continue accessing their library of games and gameplay data.
  10. EA Origin app shuts down in April, will not be missed - Lack of Microsoft support final nail in coffin.

  12. If I had a dime for every quarter spent...
  13. All movies may use square pixels but not all displays! Unfortunately, I am not in a position to gin up a theme to set up the display settings to test this at this time. Sorry.
  14. Without having the theme to test, I am not certain of this but could it be that the video's aspect ratio is the issue? 1140x1080 is a 4:3 ratio if using square pixels however, it is also considered 16:9 when rectangular pixels are used in the calculation. Could this be what is causing the scaling confusion?
  15. The Star Wars: Prequel Pack available 1/23/2025 - $55 Not a bad deal, especially if properly optimized for modern systems.
  16. I think that it is funny that the libs alarmed and worried about his "Billionaire Boys Club" running the country. Really? Explain George Soros, Bill Gates, and other wealthy liberals with skin in the same game. At the end of the day, we'll be okay. Most of us will still be poor, wondering what the heck we're going to do with our lives. All we can do is be kind to one another.
  17. I don't see tariffs in the immediate future. Creepy Uncle Joe created a slash & burn exit s#it storm for the Don to cleanup first. Even with both houses in conservative hands, not all conservatives are Trump sycophants and will hopefully rise up against any outright shenanigans. His speeches are laborious and mind-numbing. If he'd just stick to the facts and quit the name calling and blame gaming, he'd be more effective.
  18. My suggestion was not a rule in as much as strong suggestion to help keep existing triage efforts as clean/clear as possible. I am glad it is sorted for you and feel free to ask for assistance any time!
  19. I still liken Trump to the ugly love child that the far left and right parented. He is a scoundrel, braggert, big mouth, and a few other words. I don't see him starting WWIII. If anything we were closer due to the outgoing administration. It will be interesting to see how the international issues resolve (or not) in the coming months. Tariffs just means that we will be paying a backend tax for goods from China as they will pass them on with increased prices to the consumer. I don't see tariffs replacing income or other federal taxes. I am hopeful that the recent term limits bill for members of Congress being floated passes. If a politician receives a vote, there should be a limited stay not a lifetime career. Sadly, the outgoing administration has engaged in slash & burn tactics contrary to the voiced promotion of a smooth transition. I am not hopeful for finding new remote work as both Trump and "best buddy" Elon are big supporters of RTO mandates and there are only about 6% of Federal workers currently in office daily. I fully expect to see an exodus in coming months, swelling the unemployment ranks. As for routers and switches, TP Link is under fire and I expect other Chinese brands to be impacted.
  20. I am using the Ubuntu-derived version of Linux Mint with the Cinnamon UI for the old laptop and desktops. So far working well with little intervention required. As for ChromeOS (or ChromeOS Flex), there are some concerns about support for older peripherals that I would like to see still be used by the recipient, such built-in CD/DVD drives, older but still serviceable desktop printers and scanners, if available. I may consider looking into it for more basic kit.
  21. No hurries. This is another reason why we suggest separate threads. 💯 Upgrade to the latest version as soon as you are able and report back with your results. If still an issue, attach new copies of your pinballx.ini and log.txt files in your reply.
  22. Good deal and thanks for reporting back! Glad it is sorted!
  23. As a general rule it should be understood to open a new thread to report an error or bug vs. adding to an existing thread unless otherwise requested.
