  1. I really want to reopen this thread up. I kinda put the whole idea on the back burner for me. I'm not a programmer, and the launcher idea and stuff was all Adultery's baby. But I just want to bring back into the light the whole RetroAchievements activity again. So as most of the regulars here know by now, I have a Raspberry Pi 2 that I deliberately bought to use as a Media Center device via Kodi, and it works great. I then discovered an addon for it called IARL which essentially downloads (legally, it's in the Government sanctioned Internet Archive) ROMs on the fly and launches them, then erases them when you're done playing to save SD card space. It has now been updated to work hand-in-hand with another addon called GameStarter. GameStarter is an all-in-one program that installs RetroArch, the essential cores (you still need to provide BIOS files) and pre-configures EVERYTHING. The nice thing about this is, GameStarter's version of RetroArch includes a version that has Retro Achievements built in! So I didn't even need to do anything other than enable them via RetroArch's menus. Trouble I'm finding now is, I'm not earning any via the various games I've tried to play. It might be the core, it might be the game. I'm hoping some of my good friends here still follow the whole RetroAchievements "scene" and might be able to provide me some insight. I suppose another thing I'm going to have to try and do would be to setup GameEx to use Adultery's launcher and make some new custom menu entries to launch the preferred emulators. But that's a future endeavor. I'm really just looking to get it to work via RetroArch for the moment. So.... anybody still interested in this and might possibly be using a similar setup as me that might be willing to help tackle and troubleshoot? Also, look me up and add me as a friend there! I'm still listed as hansolo77... http://retroachievements.org/user/hansolo77
  2. All those 19(x)(x) games are good. I'll add it to the list!
  3. Welcome aboard! Always nice to meet new people. Hope you enjoy your stay!
  4. I like how in that video they make you believe you can drive from New York to Key West in a little over a minute.
  5. The 2nd to last one, even though it's in "French?" was just so epic. The music was amazing before they got to the actual gameplay, and it's completely new music (I have all the soundtracks so I know!). OMG I want a Next Gen console and that game so bad. Why do I have to be so responsible! The other commercials I think I've seen various bits of, like the Lego's and Walmart ones. The Duracell one at the beginning I had only seen cut-for-time bits of, not the full thing. The full one is way better. Love them all though.
  6. Holy Freaking Cow man! That's incredible. Way to go! Updated OP, DB, RSS
  7. Interesting. I figured once it was out on home release, it wasn't even being shown in theaters anymore. And to be honest, they churn out home releases a lot faster nowadays compared to years ago. I'm still bitter that they didn't include all the bonus content they advertised would be included in the home version. Like the actual cut scenes of the original opening that explained the current political climate and showed the liaison of Leia's going to the New Republic's home base prior to it getting destroyed with what looks like a Bothan companion. They cut the deleted scene of the snow speeder chase too. And what really irritated me was the advert of a full cast sit down read through on camera of the original script that was completely cut and remade into a 2-3 cast interview of it. There was also supposed to be a 20-minute or so long documentary with John Williams about the music, and we're left with another 2-3 minute interview. Also, where were the more traditional bonus features like Director or Cast Commentary, or a music only track? I mean come on.. I paid good money for my copy, and I was TOTALLY let down. I didn't even like the packaging, where the "bonus disk" was underneath the movie disc on a spindle rather than it's own holder. Really lame. What's worse, I was going to hold out and buy the 3D version but couldn't wait. Now it looks like the 3D version is going to be pushed back and delayed even longer due to some mastering error, and word/rumor is, it doesn't contain anything new either.. just a 3D and 2D version of the film. What a let down. In other news.... I read online that Rogue One is being re-shot because Disney reviewed a rough cut of the film and deemed it too dark. So something like 30% of the footage has to be re-shot. That's a LOT. Rogue One might actually get delayed till next year rather than have their Christmas release as originally slated.
  8. I only felt like it was laggy because of how much faster the animation and controls seem to be on newer titles of the same genre. It might be ok for most people.
  9. Actually, as cool as that is, I'm pretty pissed at all the cell phones. Used to be, you couldn't bring a camera in to a show like that. I remember going to an Aerosmith concert and they had signs up saying my camera would be confiscated with no returns if I tried to bring it in. I wanted to take pictures of ME being there, not of the band because I was too far away. Now, you can't even see the show because of all the people with their phones out recording it above their head. It's crazy.
  10. Nice one Exed! Updated OP, DB, RSS
  11. That's a ridiculous glitch. It's cool by me. <shrug> Updated OP, DB, RSS
  12. Sounds like fun! Are you looking for a top ten MAME or a top ten total in GameEx? GAMEEX Star Trek the Next Generation (via Visual Pinball) Hangman (via Fairchild Channel F) Galaga (via MAME) Final Fantasy Origins (via PSX) Tetris: The Grand Master (via MAME) Super Mario 64 (via Nintendo 64) Super Mario World (via Super Nintendo) Metal Slug - Super Vehicle-001 (via MAME) Donkey Kong (via MAME) Centipede (via MAME) MAME Galaga Tetris: The Grand Master Metal Slug - Super Vehicle-001 Donkey Kong Centipede Mario Bros. Joust Tapper Shinobi Cleopatra Fortune Honestly, I don't play much MAME other than for our competition. There are so many games out there, it's hard to find ones I like that aren't popular to begin with. That's why my 10th one is actually some random game I found and actually liked so I've played it multiple times. I'm actually surprised I've played it more than the other games in our competition.
  13. Happy Birthday from your friendly neighborhood high score moderator!
  14. HAHA!! Thanks for being such a good sport! The only reason I was being picky was because we've had some issues in the past where our rules were somewhat ignored and when we let it slide it started "unfair advantage" controversies. I know we're just a small little group here with nothing really at risk or anything to gain. But still, fairs fair. Updated OP, DB, RSS
  15. Lol, whats up with that red D? Also, you're using the wrong ROM set. It's DDragon, not DDragonU...
  16. Going a bit off topic there MO... I'd post up that request in the Social Club.
  17. I wish I was as fluent in words as you Draco. You're dedication was spot on. All I can say is "here here" and bang my glass to yours. Muhammad Ali was awesome. Such charisma and strength. You'll be missed.
  18. Wow so if you die from an environment it glitches? That sucks! Thanks for the tip! Updated OP, DB, RSS
  19. Yeah, I used to play Double Dragon/BattleToads on the NES and Sega Genesis. Totally different game from what I remember. It's all good fun though.
  20. You can really tell this is the "first" beat-em up. The controls are slow and sluggish, and the fairness of the enemies is uneven. I'm constantly getting knocked down and put in a spot I can't break out of when they have weapons. Still, I managed to get to the 3rd stage easy enough before completely dying. I think I prefer some newer old-school beat-em ups though. I'll have to go back and play some of the remakes/clones on other consoles to see if the issues I have still exist there. 21. Yeah I wish there was some way to keep a running total of how many quarters you put into your MAME arcade at home. I know there's a book keeping option to see what's been put into an individual machine, but I'd be curious to see how much dough in total across all games I've "spent".
  22. You voted, here it is! June 2016's GOTM is.... DOUBLE DRAGON! Double Dragon (ダブルドラゴン Daburu Doragon?)[4] is a 1987 beat 'em up video game developed by Technōs Japan and distributed in North America and Europe by Taito. The game is a spiritual and technological successor to Technos' earlier beat 'em up, Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun (released outside Japan by Taito as Renegade), but introduced several additions such as two-player cooperative gameplay and the ability to arm oneself with an enemy's weapon after disarming them. Double Dragon is considered to be one of the first successful examples of the genre, resulting in the creation of two arcade sequels and several spinoffs, as well as inspiring other companies in creating their own beat 'em ups. Originally an arcade game, home versions were released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Master System, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari ST, Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, Game Boy, Genesis/Mega Drive and Atari Lynx, among other platforms during the series's height of popularity. A remake titled Double Dragon Advance was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2003. The NES version was re-released for the Wii's Virtual Console in North America on April 28, 2008 at a cost of 500 Wii Points.[5] Nintendo also released the Game Boy version on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in 2011. -Quote from Wikipedia.
