Swappable Control Panels & Interal CP Viewer vs CP Wizard?
hansolo77 replied to Necromancyr's topic in General
As far as I know, there isn't a way to manage swappable control panels in GameEx. It's pretty much set as it is. The internal control panel viewer is uncustomizable. It just uses a predefined layout, and correlates the buttons from the controls.dat file in MAME. The other is a fully fledged layout designer. You can design the layout to match your controls exactly. Plus there are some other things in there too, but I've not used it so I don't what else is in there. Since I don't have a cab/control panel, I just photoshopped my own controller image files for the emulators. You could do this for multiple control panels if you needed to, but just have to have them both onscreen at the same time. -
Off topic, but related... Are the Zelda games any good? When it comes to RPG's, I pretty much stick with Final Fantasy. I guess I'm just a FF Fanboy. I been playing FF1 on the Playstation (via Final Fantasy Origins) and it's bringing back a lot of memories. There are other RPG's out there, like Might and Magic, Dragon Quest, *cough* Pokemon, but a lot of people play Zelda. I never owned a NES so I never got to play them. Whats the quality of the series like compared to FF?

Agreed; if you can provide accurate translations, Tom and the rest of the GameEx staff and community will forever be greatful!

Yeah I did a Google on Gals Panic. Doesn't look that great. I'm sure I have it though. Ooooh Qix with semi-naked 8bit ladies in the backgroud... PASS. I'd rather play some decent Strip Poker.

You have to link directly to the streaming url, not the hosting webpage. On the page you're trying to use, the url of the stream is actually a SWF object, and I don't think GameEx will work with that. Here's the full source where the url is located: var attributes = {}; swfobject.embedSWF("http://media.perthnow.com.au/fatwire/audioPlayer/sportFM_main_0.swf", "flash-id1225872848227", "650", "280", "9.0.0", "expressInstall.swf", flashvars, params, attributes); So the url you want is the "http://media.perthnow.com.au/fatwire/audioPlayer/sportFM_main_0.swf" but thats just the PLAYER, it loads the stream "flash-id1225872848227". So if you can figure out a 1-line url for that, that's all you need.

Yeah you have to recompile. Esentially, the patches are updates to the root base. They're not like patches in the sense of being able to download it and update it. They have to be applied pre-compile.

Whats Gals Panic? I'll have to see if I have it...

need some help with gameex and touchscreen bartop
hansolo77 replied to arcadepcnut's topic in General
I haven't tried using a touchscreen with GameEx. Have you tried double-tapping, like double-clicking to open a program? If it works by double-tapping, it might just be a configuration thing with the driver. I remember having a similar problem when our grocery store installed their self-checkout registers.... None of the tapping worked unless they double-tapped. Found out (and was yelled at for it) that there was a setting in the driver that needed to be enabled that said something like "assume all taps are doubles". You might also need to check your double tap speed in the mouse controller drivers. If that's not it, it might be something to do with the fact you have mouse AND touchsceen enabled. It just sounds wierd that you would need to have both enabled, and might be causing a conflict. Something else that might be causing the problem is the license. A lot of features aren't really available to free users. The touchscreen functionality might be a registered only feature. But again, I've not tried using a touchscreen with GameEx, so these suggestions might not even be helpful. I'm sure you'll figure it out eventually though, since you say it DOES work when you go back and forth on the item. Maybe somebody else here on the forums can help out. -
Feel like I have been kicked in the nuts... Hard
hansolo77 replied to needlefluff's topic in Social Club
I was browsing my local Craigslist, and there's people out there trying to sell non-functioning arcade cabs for thousands of dollars. Like a guy wants to sell a Mrs Pacman for 2 grand and it doesn't even work. And then further down the list, $199 for a cocktail Spaced Invaders that works. Go figure. -

Man you guys are lucky. I don't know anybody like that around here. We just got our legalized gambling this year, and they're building our first state casino right down the road from me. Can't wait to go in and play. Would be cool I if I could get in on where they dispose of old fruit machines and video slots. -
GameFaqs is the place to go for cheat codes, if anybody feels like taking a stab at it.

I wonder if Tom could maybe add a built in link for GameEx that would allow you to launch a game from the Top 200 list hosted on the site? That would be really cool, as you could easy see what people play the most, and then play it yourself.

For me, it's really just a matter of storage space. Yeah, I'll never really play a Fairchild F game, when I can play something a lot better. It's cool to have it there, and brag about having it. But when it comes down to it, it's not really all that important to get rid of it either. I think the filesize for the Fairchild rom set is like 64k! That's smaller than a picture. The only real advantage of getting rid of it is just to help in the database loading. I really think there should be a setup like what I requested here: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=10189&view=findpost&p=78085 in that it uses 2 database setups to minimize loading. The first database would just be there to catalog all your system/roms. The 2nd database would be the ones containing the details about the roms for that system. But rather than have GameEx load all the databases, just load the first database on load, then the second database PER SYSTEM as you enter them. Your search function would still work across all systems because the first database has them. As for the OP, did you know GameEx is watching you? It reports your activity to an ongoing database hosted on homepage, keeping track of the top 200 emulated games and the top 100 MAME games. Emulated: http://www.gameex.com/Community/Mostplayedemulatedgames.aspx MAME: http://www.gameex.com/Community/MostplayedMAMEgames.aspx

Thanks Tom! Will be updating soon.

Try enableing the 7zip/goodmerge option for that romset. I think it will still display the rom list after extracting on those particular roms. It just won't have all the description details. I could be wrong though, I always used the details.

Man, thats what I get for missing a day! Can't wait to play Star Wars Trilogy!

Looks like a Windows Phone. I've never seen one, or played with one, but those screens look very familiar from screens I've seen of them.

Don't know if anybody round here would care, but I just thought I'd post a quick message up so people who didn't know and might be interested would then know! Star Trek Online is going Free! There are limitations, which can be fixed by actually purchasing a Gold Membership, but if you look at the differences, theres really not much you're being limited on. Announcment URL: http://www.startrek.com/article/star-trek-online-boldly-goesundefined-free Homepage URL: http://www.startrekonline.com/f2p I don't know when exactly it's going to happen. I'm looking forward to it. I wanted to play when I saw the game was coming out, but didn't have a job and couldn't afford the membership. My brother got it, and played for about 3 months before quitting. He was too commited to WoW though and couldn't find time to play it over Wow. He also said there was nobody ever on. Recent related forum topics say that was true in the beginning, but it has improved greatly since then, and now is really popular, especially when the free option becomes available.

Outdated now, but I was able to get one of the guys (I think he was the 2nd one, red) to lose his glasses!

Lol! You musta read that somewhere, no way you figured that out on your own!

Are you using the 64 bit version of Mess? The command-line is different between 32x and 64x. Also, are you using the latest version of the system roms with your version of MESS? There may be some changes, so you'll have to grab the lastest rom set for your version. You could probably use clrmame or something to weed out the differences, but I never could figure out how to use it.

Yeah I just started collecting again back in September of last year. When I was last reading comics, I was aroun 12 or so, and only got comics as a Christmas gift for 1 year. My allowance was only $1 a week, so I couldn't really buy any on my own. Luckily for me, my brother also got the Christmas gift of a pull list from the comic store for 1 year. We both got 2 comics each. After about 5 months, he gave me his list as a birthday present (my birthday is in May). So I was then able to change his X-Men Adventures and X-Men 2099 pulls over to something better. I was pulling X-Men and Uncanny X-Men. With his new add, I was then getting Wolverine and Cable. Then dad was getting his own (because he wanted to read all the crossovers), he was getting X-Force, X-Factor, etc. Then that following Christmas, he offered me the same deal, with 4 comics at a time, or something different. I kept with the comics! I have 2 years worth from the 93-95 period. Now that I'm older, and can buy my own, I was always eager to want to collect again. So in September last year, I found a local store and started. Now I'm addicted! I get X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, Uncanny X-Force, New Mutants, Generation Hope, Wolverine, Daken, and X-23. Plus, they're doing this 'Fear Itself' major title crossover, and I'm getting that, plus all the back stories in the other books. I'm SOOOO behind on reading now though. I've got them all in order, but I've got issues clear back from February to read!

Wow. See? That's what I was looking for. Somebody with a little bit of audiophile intelligence. Thanks for the comment LB11. I don't really want to go and buy a new motherboard so I can have surround sound in my games. Kinda seems wasteful, since there's nothing wrong with it right now. As for Dolby Pro Logic, I never considered that. Do you know, will it be true surround, or just stereo being outputted amongst all the speakers? I though Pro Logic was like a faux-surround, imitating true surround, kinda like converting monaural sound into faux-stereo.

Yeah. I'm just going to assume that was why it didn't work. I'm not in any big hurry to try and get this to work. Using CDisplay works well enough, and for a regular comic, the built in ebook reader also works. I just think for a LARGER work (like an actual book..) that is in jpg format rather than pdf, a separate app just works better.
