I've never heard of GameEx updates trashing the ini. I can maybe see it if you haven't updated in YEARS, but 5 months? Something else must have happened. As far as your emulators though, check to make sure they still work outside of GameEx. If they do, it's not that hard to add them back.

Yeah I love that controller. I originally got it because it had 6 action buttons, like the 6-button Sega Genesis controllers. I wanted to be able to play those games with ease, without having to remember that the C and Z buttons were mapped to some other strange buttons. The only thing that sucks is that it only has 1 shoulder button for each side (like the Super Nintendo and Gameboy Advance). This limits it's functionality to play other systems like the PlayStation. But I don't really need to emulate the PlayStation since I have a modded one that still works great. This controller also has ~RUMBLE~ which works great on the Nintendo 64 and Trackmania. Speaking of which; does anybody know if there's a quick way to change what device is plugged into the N64 controller so I can quickly go from rumble to the memory unit (using Project64). It also has a 'shift' button which would allow me to add an additional 12 keys to the already existing 12, but I've never had to use it. On a side note; I'm no newbie to PhotoShop. My biggest hurdle is coming up with an idea. Here's an example of my work, building a custom box set to hold all my Disney DVD's (since the original boxes were destroyed in the fire): http://www.customaniacs.org/forum/custom-coversets/133717-walt-disney-animated-feature-films.html

This really isn't as much about GameBase, as it is the emulator "WinUAE". As I recall from years ago, I created a thread documenting a step by step procedure for setting WinUAE up and having it load roms (via HK's loader) into fullscreen mode. Since I'm not using the emulator straight in now, and rather through GameBase, I'm having a helluva time remembering how I got WinUAE setup. For starters, I have been able to successfully launch a game through GameBase into WinUAE and play it. So my problem is not with the GameBase setup. It sees my paths, and is able to launch the game. My problem is that it launches in a window. I'd like to get it to launch full screen. There in lies my problem (as it is, I seem to have had this problem with all my GameBases so far). I can configure WinUAE outside of GameBase to go into full screen while using the quickstart GUI, but it seems to lose the setting after closing down the emulator. I've tried to SAVE the settings, but that doesn't work, as the GUI doesn't auto-load the settings. SOmething else I'm having trouble with is getting the proper configuration while IN full screen; ie.. I can't get it to be in a proper resolution, centered, and in correct aspect ratio. There are various tickboxes for these, "[x] Center Horizontally, [x] Center Vertically, [x] Correct Aspect Ratio", however even when these are all checked, the fullscreen mode is a FULL screen filling my 16x9 display, with the BIOS rom image loaded off center. So I ask the community again for some help, even though I know I'll probably figure it out on my own tomorrow. 1) Has anybody been able to successfully set up WinUAE to load into Full Screen on a 16x9 display, while maintaining aspect ratio? 2) How have you overcome the problem of the emulator not loading the saved configuration setting? 3) Has anybody been able to completely integrate launching a game, from GameEx, through GameBase, into full screen? Thanks guys!

Yeah, I tried my best to not use crossing lines too, it's just when you have a vertical orientation and a horizontal one, and you're mapping controls separately, it can't be avoided.

Since this is a 'social' forum, I'd thought it'd be fun to post up some pictures I took on my trip to the zoo. Every now and then, my workplace does something nice for their employee's. For 4 days in August, they gave us a free 1-day pass to the zoo. I was originally going to go together with a group of coworkers, but somehow we missed our meet-up at work. I sat for half an hour waiting (with no air conditioning in my car) and they never showed up. Turns out I drove up as they were leaving and we just missed. So rather than spend 3 hours after work like they did, I was able to go by myself the next day, and spend the whole day taking my time and enjoying it. These are the photos from that visit. They're all in my Photobucket album, so you'll have to go there to see them. There's over 100 pictures, and like 7 videos. Hope ya'll like them! http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y190/hansolo77/Zoo%20August%2017%202011/

These are actually the same controller images I used before the fire, they were stashed on my server for safe keeping since they took FOREVER to make. The hardest part was finding a decent enough controller image to use and draw lines from my own controller to them. After that, I kept a notebook with each button assignment, then all I had to do was match them up. Granted, null's looks much more polished. This was only my first go, and null's obviously got a bit more skill than me. It works for my purposes. You can always click the "View Controls" link in GameEx to see it longer if you need too.

I tell you what Null, those look a helluva lot better than mine: And the scariest one:

Good Gaming & Emulation Sites (Other Than Here)
hansolo77 replied to nullPointer's topic in Social Club
@nullPointer; Have you ever considered doing the work yourself and creating your own blog? It's not that hard, and I think it'd be fun to get established and have a one of a kind blog. I'm sure there'd be lots of readers, like everybody here... You could try out the various emulators yourself, and post your own reviews about them. Hmmmmm.. I don't have the time or I'd do it! -
Congrats and good luck on your new job Draco! I've always wanted a job where I do PC-Repairs, but was always afraid if I DID, it would turn out to be a JOB. I do that stuff for a hobby and love it, but if I get sick of doing it because of the job, I'd no longer be interested in doing it for fun.

The 2 programs I can't live without now is Media Browser and Media Center Master. These are for Windows Vista/7 Media Center. Basically, Media Browser lets you store all your videos (tv shows, movies) in a nice folder structure, then displays them in Media Center for easy browsing with pictures, wallpaper, actor and production staff databases, video details, etc. Media Center Master is the tool to grab all the information and pictures (meta-data). It's just too pretty to not have! Spend a few minutes looking at the screenshots of the program in action, and you'll want it too! (Yes, this is why I have a server ) Media Browswer: http://www.mediabrowser.tv/ Media Center Master: http://www.mediacentermaster.com/

Yeah, cept he doesn't know what it was, or how he fixed it. Now nobody else can solve this problem if they get it. Still, glad you got it working Adultery!

Well, soon as I get some money together, I'm going to be upgrading my drive to a 1tb. I just got this 500gb as a temporary fix to hold me over till I could afford a bigger one. When I do, I'll get this setup, and probably ScummVM, a whole bunch of Interactive Fiction, and re-install StepMania with all it's gig's of music. PLUS, here in the next few months I'll probably be getting a copy Star Wars: The Old Republic. Been waiting years for it, ever since they announced it.. I loved Star Wars Galaxies so much until the programmers crapped on everybody and decided to make Jedi a starting profession instead of WORKING for it (I almost had it too!).

Hehe.. yeah that site describes exactly what I figured it was being used for... A driver that creates a way to play the originals, without needing to have them cracked. I'm so smart. Still, I don't understand why the author who released the latest version of this particular GameBase would include that beta driver, since it doesn't work. Anytime I try to play a "Pasti Original" with the dll, it just comes up and says it requires manual intervention, which doesn't work!
-
Ah-HA! I love Google. http://pasti.fxatari.com/
-
I did.. PASTI.DLL Guess you just read over it. Would be nice though, if this "beta" dll is really used to play originals, and that a fully working version would come into existance. But like I said, most of the games have "cracked" counterparts and don't really need to be listed.
-
Ok, so get this.... I went to steem.atari.st (the homepage of the STeem emulator). The latest version there IS v3.2 (not beta). I downloaded the zip, extracted. There ARE no .dll files AT ALL. So what the heck is this "pasti.dll" file then? Just for trials, I renamed it "pasti.dll-old" and tried to run the emulator. NO POPUP ALERT! What gives? Having this DLL in the root path causes the popup that says it's in beta. So I'm good now with not having that popup anymore. So what is the pasti.dll? My theory; there are lots of games in the GameBase that are labeled (Pasti Original). Perhaps this dll is a driver to play these games. The wierd part is, 99% of the games that are available as (Pasti Original) are also available without that labeling, and are playable just fine. Perhals Pasti Originals are a special type of disk and are included just for posterity? In either case, this is fixed now, and I'm happy. Now if I can just figure out how to create a blank formatted disk so I can save my games (Like Dungeon Master!). Dad actually owned that game, so it's very close to me as being a very much played game.

It says it came out 6/8/2011... and that it's FREE? Since when are XBL games free? EDIT #1 HAHA knew it was too good to be true: EDIT #2 Nevermind, he linked to the FREE video, not the game. It costs 1200g. Can't afford that right now.

Feature & Enhancement Requests
hansolo77 replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
Just to re-iterate, he's referring to this thread: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=10249 which suggests having 2 databases. 1 database that stores the names/emulators for matching a game with another emulator, and 1 database for each system that contains the details about the game. This would cut load times by not loading the "details" for each emulator, but rather only when that system is accessed. -
Hrmph, nobody bothered to tell me yet how big this emulator/games is. Sounds really interesting, and since it seems to be the system a lot of people are figuring out right now; I'd like to help. I'm limited on drive space though (I got about 100gb left, but haven't started setting up the Pinball stuff yet).
-
Actually, I was waiting to see if anybody had any BETTER ideas. I'll try this out though and see what kind of damage it does.
-
Heh, that was Idea #2.
-
Well, once's it's loaded it once, it doesn't load it again until after you restart GameEx. It seems like it loads up the MAME database first, then when you access any ROM, it starts to load the other emulator databases looking for matches.
