Your pinballx.ini file looks corrupt to me, the [display] section is incomplete. Copy it off somewhere and then replace it with an old one (use one from earlier post in this thread if you don't have a backup). You'll then need to check everything looks ok in Settings.exe (pay special attention to [JoyCodes] as that section is different between last and current ini files as well as Other Systems, might be other difference too. Also re-check outhere's tips in 4th post https://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/22166-backglass-images-not-showing-up/?do=findComment&comment=186321 after. Hope that helps..

Ok... ignoring that version for now (some tables saved in 10.6 will work in 10.5 anyway)... Open visual pinball, don't open a table. Go to Preferences, under configure keys you should have something like this; (my keys probably won't make any sense at all as i don't use them) Note the keys or change them. Then under file menu open a table (opening this way won't auto launch the table like it will if you open a table with the first dialogue opening visual pinball), then save it (as a different name, for now), as a 10.5 version. Press F5 and it should launch, add coins, then start with whatever keys... does that do anything? At worst pressing Q twice (exit game) should take you back to the editor. The fullscreen option you can change when checking stuff out in the editor Preferences, video settings

A Visual Pinball 10.6 table should open with the 10.6 executable. Check the version (right click properties, details) of the VPinballX.exe, open that and browse to the table to open it. That should work... Once you get things up and running it'll be worth all the pain now!

Have you loaded any tables?, PinballX when installed has sample media for three tables (i think), but would behave in the way that you describe as they are only front end media files - not the actual games. Have you loaded visual pinball (or whatever game you want to play)?, get that loaded and tables working there first, my advice would be to worry about the front end (pinballx) later. There's another slightly dated guide here, http://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/ba2917_ad2b870882264b7b9372a7a406fe21d3.pdf if you're just starting out and has more info on the bigger picture

Is the problem with Pinballx loading a table, or just starting any table (visual pinball, future pinball, FX3 etc) via that emulator? Doc for Pinballx here, maybe a little dated but the main stuffs covered;

Good spot - actually i realised you had already uploaded a load of videos to the FTP, so i just grabbed them in the end! Thanks for doing the leg work for me

For people like me with a virtual DMD and find topper style videos playing on it a little off putting (and not really keeping the 'feel' of a pinball table) the 128*32 real DMD videos can be converted and DMD'ified with a script like the below; 1/ Resize video to 1280*320; ffmpeg -i "C:\Path and File name to process.mp4" -vf scale=1280:320 "C:\path\Resized.mp4" -y 2/ Pixelate the resized video; ffmpeg -i "C:\path\Resized.mp4" -vf scale=iw/10:ih/10,scale=10*iw:10*ih:flags=neighbor "C:\path\Pixelated.mp4" -y 3/ Overlay a dot matrix type image (attached); ffmpeg -i "C:\path\Pixelated.mp4" -i "C:\path\dmdoverlay.png" -filter_complex "[0:v][1:v] overlay=0:0" -pix_fmt yuv420p -c:a copy "C:\Path and File name to output.mp4" -y This should convert the 128*32 video from something like; To something like; @Mike_da_Spike thanks for the exe, if you want to add an optional config flag for vitual dmd users to output 1320*1280 mp4s feel free to incorporate the above. Originally i intended to just use these for non DMD EM type tables instead of a static company logo, but my OCD side now wants to use them in place of DMD recordings as well. One thing always leads to another in this hobby... EDIT: Updated gif of the mp4 videos using Mike_da_Spikes latest version from FTP For info on FTP 128*32 versions are in /-PinballX-/Other Uploads/MikeDaSpike/VIsuall Pinball X/Real DMD Color Videos 1280*320 converted versions are in /-PinballX-/Other Uploads/scutters/Visual Pinball X/DMD Colour Videos dmdoverlay.zip

In addition to @Mike_da_Spike's advice it's worth noting that you don't need to import media via game manager, or via the online option in it (my cabs offline so never used the feature, and i'm not sure if it's available to basic members? someone else will know and confirm probably). If your table naming convention is standard (and it looks to be) then if you have the capacity on your hard drive / SSD you can download in volume for wheels, and audio files etc (due to size of the files i wouldn't do it for videos). So long as the files you copy match the table name in game manager they should just work, and will be already present for future games you add. Or you can just download and copy the ones you want. Example; download table audio files and put them in your \Pinballx\media\visual pinball\table audio folder, launch audio in \Pinballx\media\visual pinball\launch audio etc For the media files to be used in PinballX front end the file names have to match the Game or Description field in Game Manger. Game Manager is handy if you don't have standard table names and you have the media already downloaded and names don't match, in which case you can change the All Online option to the media type you have for a table, click Import and navigate to the file - then Game Manager will copy the file for you and change the file name accordingly. A few links that might help you out; Table Audio Launch Audio Wheel Images https://mega.nz/#F!p3hREDgB!pEWMJvVQ7t3Sv_TmrxdU-w!52AzHIDR (not sure who maintains this link, but you'll also see flyers and instructions cards in the folders on there, if you want them drop them in the matching folders in pinballx\media\) For playfield videos i create my own (can be done via game manager or pbx recorder), post back if you go down that route and need a hand with either of those. Anyways, if you get the online import option working then just count this post as background info. Welcome to the hobby!!

I don't use it game manager for media recording so don't know of a way, does it allow in game recording instead?. If nobody else chips in it might be a feature request

All settings and media will be retained when you update. Just install over the top, stick with the default options in the install (install 32bit not 64)

Was down there the other week, not too many pinballs yet (Medieval Madness, Walking Dead and Total Nuclear Annihilation) more to come apparently, but 100's of arcade games. I rediscovered the joy of track and field!. Stayed about 5 hours, well worth 16 quid.

scutters - i like anything pinball related, beer (with an extreme over fondness of Newcastle Brown), and being from Yorkshire, cricket. And if you didn't get it from my user name, i also love it a bit of Red Dwarf

For anyone building large playlists via the drag drop functionality in File List Creator here's a profile that can be loaded to get the correct format output. Go to Settings in FileListCreator and select Load or Save or Load Settings and select Load Profile and load the file attached. Also check the Save automatically on closing checkbox while on that screen and you should be sorted for settings each time you open it in future. PlayListSettings.fls

[RESOLVED] Pinball FX3 shuts down when process to monitor is entered
scutters replied to Robert.jolly's topic in General
Also, in settings.exe go to Joystick Input Settings, try setting Exit Emulator to the same button as Quit (or keyboard input settings if you're using keyboard), whatever button/key you're using. It's not mapped the same now so you might be pressing to Quit pinballx rather than exit emulator. Should probably have suggested that earlier... -
Log file seems to show the issue (recording backglass as playfield video), two blocks highlighted match; 17:35:17.1 7/3/2019: FFMPEG.exe -f gdigrab -framerate 30 -offset_x 3840 -offset_y 1083 -video_size 1920x1080 -t 00:00:45 -i desktop -c:v libx264 -crf 0 -preset ultrafast "c:\users\virtual pinball\appdata\local\temp\tmp74e6.mp4" 17:36:02.2 7/3/2019: FFMPEG.exe -i "c:\users\virtual pinball\appdata\local\temp\tmp74e6.mp4" -vf "vflip,hflip" -c:v libx264 -an -crf 20 -preset slower -pix_fmt yuv420p -f mp4 "C:\Pinball\PinballX\MEDIA\Visual Pinball\Table Videos\Gork 1.0.3.mp4" 17:36:25.1 7/3/2019: Capture Playfield video success 17:36:25.1 7/3/2019: FFMPEG.exe -f gdigrab -framerate 30 -offset_x 3840 -offset_y 1083 -video_size 1920x1080 -t 00:00:45 -i desktop -c:v libx264 -crf 0 -preset ultrafast "c:\users\virtual pinball\appdata\local\temp\tmp7eb5.mp4" 17:37:10.3 7/3/2019: FFMPEG.exe -i "c:\users\virtual pinball\appdata\local\temp\tmp7eb5.mp4" -c:v libx264 -an -crf 20 -preset slower -pix_fmt yuv420p -f mp4 "C:\Pinball\PinballX\MEDIA\Visual Pinball\Backglass Videos\Gork 1.0.3.mp4" 17:37:32.2 7/3/2019: Capture Backglass video success 17:37:32.2 7/3/2019: FFMPEG.exe -f gdigrab -framerate 30 -offset_x 5760 -offset_y 1560 -video_size 1024x600 -t 00:00:45 -i desktop -c:v libx264 -crf 0 -preset ultrafast "c:\users\virtual pinball\appdata\local\temp\tmp84cc.mp4" 17:38:17.3 7/3/2019: FFMPEG.exe -i "c:\users\virtual pinball\appdata\local\temp\tmp84cc.mp4" -c:v libx264 -an -crf 20 -preset slower -pix_fmt yuv420p -f mp4 "C:\Pinball\PinballX\MEDIA\Visual Pinball\DMD Videos\Gork 1.0.3.mp4" 17:38:21.1 7/3/2019: Capture DMD video success I'm not sure why game manager isn't getting the correct playfield screen offsets, i use pbx recorder to capture videos so i'm guessing here, but in settings.exe go to the display section and try changing the Full Screen Windowed value. Also update pinballx to latest version as Mike suggests. If that doesn't fix it post another copy of the log file after recording videos again.

Probably going to need your log and ini files as Mike requested, also probably the database xml file and a screenshot example of the file names created too (as they should not show as missing in game manger). Make sure you have installed the LAV filters from pinballx homepage, https://www.pinballx.com/, try & record again for a table with a backglass and then report back with the above..

All the more impressive!! Agree, best to keep it simple - especially where something like deletes are involved that have the potential to mess stuff up.- 48 replies

scutters replied to Mike_da_Spike's topic in User Projects
Well i guess it would be safe to include on table name and delete those, on set ups like yours it just wouldn't match anything - so no deletes. It would be harder to document though, something like "..may or may not delete DMD videos/images.." might cause confusion. I'll leave it to developers discretion and let you decide!!- 48 replies

[RESOLVED] Pinball FX3 shuts down when process to monitor is entered
scutters replied to Robert.jolly's topic in General
Are you running PinballX as administrator? Right click pinballx.exe, Properties -> Compatibility -> Run as administrator check box If that's already set try installing pinballx 32bit (same installer just don't select 64bit during install) -

Thank Mike, will give it a whirl later on if i get chance. By the way, checked my DMD Images / Videos... their filenames match the table name (i.e. just the same as table images / videos), might be because i create mine with pbx recorder rather than game manager. So you might be able to include them in the cleanup for some users. Edit - it ran as expected now, disabled tables skipped in the cleanup- 48 replies

scutters replied to Mike_da_Spike's topic in User Projects
Ahh, ok.. no idea why i don't have all the normal directories, i've never heard of a "Table Videos Desktop" folder before and don't remember having deleted it, but at least i've learned something new today. I'm ok with removing media for disabled tables, it's easy to recreate if i re-enable them later. I tend to disable rather than delete tables in pinballx and then re-enable for later (or what i consider to be better) versions of a table, and the media needs updating then anyway as i like my table videos to match the loaded table. Might be worth having another flag in the ini to make it optional for others though.- 48 replies

Looks like it'd cleanup disabled tables by default, which is fine. Couple of weird errors like; 7/1/2019 9:12:18 AM ERROR Error creating [g_objFSO.GetFolder(c:\PinballX\Media\Visual Pinball X Pinsound\Table Videos Desktop)] object, 76 = Path not found 7/1/2019 9:12:18 AM INFO Skipping Table Videos Desktop Not sure what's going on there, probably something on my set up?
