  1. flv support would be nice on two levels. If you plan on doing stuff in the front end like another well know front end or for me, just so I don't have to have two copies of the videos since I use both front ends. Is this now possible? To use the flv video previews instead of avi's? Either way, thanks for all the tips and I must be one of the lucky few cause flv is another thing that has always played ok for me. I guess it just with people stating about some of the issues they are having if it is worth updating my codec at this point. If I do, I will take your advice and uninstall all currently, then install the codec pack. Thanks.
  2. I hate to keep sticking my nose in here but this video stuff really seem to me like if itâ??s not broke don't fix it sorta thing. I am not even sure what the point of updating the codec is if the videos all play ok already... I mean the only purpose of the codec is to play the video files in the front end for the different previews of the game correct or is there something more?
  3. Well it would seem 1.96 fix my issues. I tested it off and on through out the weekend and so far, so good but everytime I think I have it fixed before... Well... I am hoping for the best but I think you may have got it this time. Any idea what fixed it?
  4. I can give it a try... Is this what you recommend? http://majorgeeks.com/Vista_Codec_Package_d5326.html What I currently have installed is the following... ffdshow_rev2014_20080617_x64 GSpot270a XviD-1.1.3-28062007 Should I uninstall all of them before install the pack?
  5. So what about this Tom, you seemed to have missed or skipped right over it. I am using the 64 bit version already and have been ever since I installed Game Ex. Why do you say it does not work with the 64 bit version of ffdshow?
  6. I have other emus to sat to play in the screen saver but even so, I have never seen anything other than Mame play, from the sounds of it you have?
  7. May ask why you are trying to change the name of the .exe and are you just trying to do this in the menus or the actual .exe?
  8. I am using ffdshow_rev2014_20080617_x64.exe right now and have been for months.
  9. Thanks Tom. Can you do me a favor and when you update the site include the 64 bit version as well as the 32?
  10. I guess the answer was nothing. Well that was quick! BTW... Is there an offical ffdshow web site?
  11. I noticed one thing with my setup that maybe a long these lines as well. The first time I fire up Game Ex and select a game from the Mame list it can take close to 30 seconds when selecting a game to the play game menu but there after less than a second on all games on my list. I guess I noticed this a few updates ago. Not really an issue for me but may have to do with that caching you are speaking of because my computer specs are pretty current with what is out...

    Daphne help

Keep in mind this as well. There are some times mulitple version of these laser disc floating around. Dragon's Lair has muliple rips from DVD, HD DVD, Laserdiscs, re-encoded versions are more so don't let that throw you off too much. So where are you at with this right now, what are you still trying to get working with it?
  13. I don't know... With this codec I am starting to think maybe if it isn't broke don't fix it. The only thing I have gathered here is to remove the old version before installing any new ones, other than that I can't uderstand what you guys would be doing wrong.
  14. So you were trying to run the current version then? 128 or 128u4? Did you ever having this running correctly in prior versions?
  15. Ok... Yeah I see there are two versions offend over there. HiToText.zip HiToTextCompiled.zip I did not look on my Media Center PC yet but I am assuming Game Ex is using the compiled version so if for what whatever reason I would want to update it on my own, I would just download the compiled version containing one exe file and over write the older version. Think I got that right and it makes sense now. I was looking at the none compiled version before that had a lot more than one exe in it and I think that is how I was getting misconstrued. My Bad.
  16. I guess there is no offical site to download this stuff from? I mean no Microsoft codec packs or anything like that? I know I also need to look for a 64 bit version as well but here's the thing, I am not sure who it was here before but I was always told that installing the least amount of codec was my best bet. I other words, it was better to just install say ffdshow and not packs like these. Just wan to make sure I am going in the right direction here.
  17. Yeah... I was considering this. A member on another forum had some ideas as well that I have not fully tried yet so I will keep you updated on a solution when I reach it. Thanks for your advice.
  18. Really? I don't recall enabling HiToText and it works... I just had no clue it was there or where to look.
  19. Cool... Yeah I love this new feature and I did not even know it was there until I went looking for it! Ok so it looks like the .cs files are what gets added to make HiToText work. I will read over that post but does the exe need updated every time new .cs files come out? I mean I would think the supported files would come out more than updates to the program unless the program needs updated for it to work? Thanks.
  20. Thanks for the update Tom. Question... I am running Vista 64 and using "ffdshow_rev2014_20080617_x64.exe" since I started using Game Ex with no problems. Is there a new version than this that you are referring on updating to?
  21. I just double checked to make sure mine was still working and it is. I am using Znes BTW...
  22. I have upgrade to the newest version ever single time now for about the past 4 or 5 months, not a single issue. Game Ex pops up and says there is an update out do I want to update, I say yes and away it goes... Nothing could be more simple!
  23. It looks like 9.66 added HiToText. I guess I must have missed it because I didn't know it was there to look for it. =] I'll update to the new version of Game Ex that is out when I get home tonight and going into one of the games on the list over on BYOAC and see if I see anything. Regarding the games that are support, do we need to keep something updated as more and more games support this or will Game Ex do this automatically?
  24. I am using the wireless ones and have had no problems along the lines of it turning off, then back on and Game Ex not seeing it. The problem I am having strictly has to do with it on being there (turned off), running Mame, Mame not seeing it there and then Mame throwing out the config file all together, reverting back to it's default settings.
  25. Also is there a reason to install a new version of ffdshow if the old one is working?
