  1. Also, Mamewah does not install under vista.. The setup files ocx will fail on installation (unless there is a workaround i failed to find)
  2. No-one would have listened to you Tempest - you should know that by now
  3. Phew! well at least you know where you are now!
  4. you never said what card you were using?
  5. I am sure this is a graphics card issue. I would agree that the card has or is overheating. This usually manifests itself as buffer corruption, this appears to be what is happening with all games. You could find this out by using a software output on the n64 emulator to bypass the direct x/gl functions and draw directly to gdi/screen. If the error vanished then it is 100% the card.. If you have onboard graphics, then try using them instead. If the problem was caused by direct x/ motherboard/ ram etc, then it would manifest itself in other ways as well - ie. random blue screens and total lockups.. I am sure that a purchase of a new card will cure your problem! Just had one quick thought.. a stab in the dark that may be worth a go. If you are using an agp or pci type card, sometimes they lose a certain amount of current passed through the bus. This manifects itself in general corruption when the card had to do any real work.. Try removing the card and blowing in the motherboard connector and cleaning the connector on the card. firmly re-seat the card (if pci, try another slot) and see if that has made any difference...
  6. I take it no one has had this little problem?

    Song Looping

Edit it in an audio editor and add a couple of hours of silence after it..... only joking.... i have no idea!
  8. big
  9. You mean, you haven't seen it??
  10. Just a couple of graphics that I have been working on for the new theme to post at a later date. RetroBox Hope you like them - Any comments are always welcome! (Sorry about the file sizes )
  11. MameWah is no where near as well developed as GameEx.. One of the GameEx features that keeps me with it is the ability to have details of romsets with each emulator, ie. type, year, publisher, game info & trivia.. GameEx is also a brilliantly supported Fe, in fact it is far more than an FE, it is a fully featured media centre (almost) and can be customised to a huge degree. Also, Tom is a great help! I have looked at all the current frontends last week (to compare there rendering of animated snaps) and was glad to return to the happy house that it 'Gameex villa' Oh - and some of the frontends were totally incapable of playing avisnaps at 60fps...
  12. Tom, Oh Tom, Where for art though... I must spent far too long thinking, but i have just thought of something (oh bugger cries Tom) In the preview window (uhuh!), you know where it shows horiz and vert (yea), well, vert is centered left/right (go on) and horiz is displayed from the top of the snap area (really?), yes Tom.. Well, what i was thinking like (oh no), can horiz be centered on the Y plane please (deary me)? It's not that i'm winging, oh no - not me... It was just a thought... Oh, secondly, did you know that on res 1920x1200, custom backgrounds are strethed. All normal backgrounds (emubak, startback, daphne, etc) are displayed correctly. But.. custom emulator backgrounds (vectrex, master system, madeup F7, etc) are stretched to the lower right corner by 3 pixels... This is not noticable unless you use the same background for all screen, in which case emu ones move slightly due to resizing. Please dont mend this as i have solved it by knock 3 pixels of the right and bottom of all emu backs.. Just thought i would mention it! So please leave this alone as i would have to re-do 40-odd backgrounds. I just wanted to mention it to see if i could get a brownie point, or even a silver star like i used to get in school when i was a good boy! Cheers!
  13. Thanks mate! Nice to know someone cares
  14. It is getting there!!! Working to change all icons and screens
  15. Oh no - what have i done..? I just cant encourage drinking... My great, great grandad died from excessive drinking... He drowned!
  16. I have the same problem on my laptop.. Afraid i never got to the bottom of it, Though i can say that the laptop i use at home had 512m ram and a 1.7 processor with a nvidia chipset and it runs fine on that. Though i did recently buy a Asus Eeepc and it only has a 571meg processor and intel gma 900 graphics processor, again with just 512k of ram GameEx runs a treat (using the faq you followed) The only conclusion I can make from this is a problem with the intel extreme chipset or a VERY slow hard drive? Not much help i know. Perhaps it is worth a purchase of a PCI graphics card (both nvidia and ati are still available), this MAY help with gameex and will certainly improve emulated performance at the very least!
  17. You little bag of cuddly puppies... Well done tom! you are a star!! (Me got big grin on me face now!!) Just sent ('A gift for Tom') via paypal - Please don't waste it all on women and fast cars, It's a nasty slope to ruin.. What I suggest is to open a high interest savings account and invest it.. Who knows, in ten or twenty years - it may have earnt a pound.. Cheers!
  18. Tom, another (sort-of) request posted http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=5336 I have to keep trying as it is my only gripe with gameex :)
  19. This also depends on what you are emulating, Gameex comes with premade Microsoft access database files that contain infomation on the games. This can be done yourself. these are located in DATA/EMULATORS and have a name similar to '[Console] Nintendo NES.mdb'. Edit these and add info you need, but do-not delete any tabs else info will not show. Then make sure it is selected in the advanced config for the emulator you are using, it is on a pull down called 'Database'..
  20. This only works in Mame though. With anyother non-4:3 vids/snaps for any other emulator you need to add black borders to them so they are 4:3. Hopefully this will be sorted at some point, but at the moment that is the only option. Tom, Tom, Tom... My finger is itching to press a paypal button
  21. Am now working on a 1920x1280 theme that will be uploaded soon-ish!
  22. I still think a ratio corrected option offers the best flexibility. This way snaps in mame would all be perfect (bearing in mind the various system boards use quite different resoulutions, including the multi-screen games. what happens when tx-1 emulates all 3 screens - BIG borders!) As an ex-programmer myself, it is not a hard thing to do. If needs just three resolution compares. X>Y Y>X X=Y, and modifying output ratio in relation to the themes snap window resolution. Direct x can happily do the rest!
  23. This does not just affect my beloved vectrex, it also affects multi screen games, ie. Darius 2 and Darius (and a few others) in mame. At the moment you have to have black borders on the top and bottom to put it back to 4:3. Without them Darius2 vid snap becomes squashed horizontally to correct the ratio to 4:3.. With true ratio corrected snaps it would alway retain the original aspect regardless of whether borders were added or not.. It would no longer matter. It would be ideal to have an option in the display config to enable/disable aspect correct snaps.. I would not think it would make an impact on frontend performance as direct x would handle it the same as it does now. All is needed it a snap dimension check before playback to check the relationship between x and y resolutions and set a x/y scale accordingly..
  24. Yes, that would be easy to do, and it would be a workaround of sorts, but it is not really what i want. I really want the Snaps to work as in Mame.. that would be perfection.. Thanks for the note though.. This is GameEx and this is the greatest front end, and i have faith in Tom, also the $1000 donation would help i'm sure (hold on, my decimal point is not working - oh well) I think i will just wait. (the dot is working again - hurrah) Cheers
  25. I would love to see the avisnaps with maintained aspect ratios. So a vert snap retains its ratio rather than squasing horizontally. i'm not sure i mentioned this before, but then my VECTREX SNAPS would play correctly
