  1. Just a note for others entering data.. Firstly: GameEx has a strange but that occurs when displaying the information from the Description field. Any text that contains a '&' is terminated before the symbol. I am currently working on the BBC list and have come across the wonderful and GameEx unfriendly A&F Software, as will peoples working on Spectrum, C64, MSX, Amstrad, Atari 8bit, Atari ST, Amiga, and IBM PC. I don't know what to suggest? I loave the idea of using 'A and F software' as a substitute. I personally will leave it as is, in the hope that Tom will modify the way DB's are read and cached. Example of Problem:- A&F Software's Chuckie Egg is a home computer video game released in 1983................ Becomes A Also, line spaces are not formatted into the GameEx display. I will continue to put paragraph breaks into the decriptions. Perhaps this could also be fixed? PS. Hoping to have BBC finished by Friday
  2. nipped me to the post.. I slipped and grazed my knee
  3. 1st open gameex advanced config/basic mame settings and set 'use bezel' to do not use bezels. 2nd in Advanced mame settings put these commands into the 'mame options' text box and save. -nobezel -nobackdrop -nooverlay If any off these switches are present remove them -use_bezels -use_overlays -Use_backdrops Hope that helps?
  4. I think i missed an opportunity there:- HOW? <snigger+1>
  5. Oh tempest... what are we gonna do with you heh? For some reason I can only get it to fill the cat but not number of players? You will have to do a bit more work to fill the rest of the data! http://uk.gamespot.com/games.html?type=games&platform=34 - will help with the years of release http://www.gamestats.com/index/platform/fc....sort.order=asc http://www.vglist.com/fairchild.shtml This may help a bit. Game description may have to involve you also playing them! Sorry!
  6. Tempest didnt get it - ha ha.. Oy - stop ribbing Tempest. that is very naughty Bad Bad Bkenobi! <snigger>
  7. To make snaps, you are best to make them out-of gameex. Use something like fraps running the emulator manually. Or wait until a c64 set is released by Emumovies (it wil be). With regards to rmdir, you can either add it yourself or leave it as it is. the dir will be removed after the next successful run of the emu. I decided not to add any specific command options to the runzip command. It works for me and others. This enable you to set the emu as you wish and runzip will run it the same. So.. run ccs (out of gameex) and set your desired screen resolution and other options and exit. next time it will run that way. I set it to full screen 640x480 and 60hz refresh.
  8. the link is here http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?sh...;hl=mame_loader
  9. Well done on another fine update. Just an idea.. can you do updates to contain only the updated code. Bit concerned that someone will extract the archive and overight. The update contains XML dir that would kill someones work (wouldnt it?) It is bound to happen
  10. I doubt we wou d both be committed to the same asy um. The letter L on my keyboard at home paired up with the hash key and last time I saw them they were talking about the beauty of clouds and how a clouds life juxtaposes our own life in it's tempestuous array of moods... So, bugger them both, I bought myself a Dinovo Edge instead.
  11. As always Headkaze, great work! Upgraded and will continue work on the BBC set later today (up to 1841 now)
  12. I use the GB64 set. the format is 'gamename (number)'. There is one difference between using the built in zip suport and my config. If you use my config and the gb64 set, when you select a multi-disk game the archive is decompressed to the emulators folder (temp). This has the added bonus that when you need to swap disk (f10) all that apears in the file browser is the other disks to select. Hope that helps.
  13. I ike to keep busy!
  14. Still having lots of fun.. Playing with BBC. Doing it manually. So far 557 games added (without descriptions). After a little play, can I be so bold (and humble to expect a reply ) to offer just a little suggestion(s)? 1) is there anyway you can allow sorting by heading. As I am adding games manually, it would be nice to sort the Publisher heading ascending to allow me to easily check that all publishers are entered correctly (ie. Inc & Incorporated, Co. & Company, Spelling missedcakes, etc) 2) is there a way to enable an instant search. Ie. so, after entering a game title - i could click search and have Google (or whatever) open up in a browser window to search for SYSTEM+TITLE. This would help speed things up a bit.. 3) Can I have a softer cushion? 4) After entering a new Game, could there be a way to click NEXT on the box to go straight to entering a new game. so i can just go game, click, game, click, etc Yes, I told you (Headkaze) it would be trouble to get me on the team <snigger>. You should try living with me - ask the wife! Edit - There is no 'Traditional' genre. what do I use for cards, darts, dominoes, pinball, etc?
  15. Already playing with the Database Manager - What a wonderful piece of software. Having a lot of fun and you have made it a JOY to use.. Will keep you posted! What a lot of work you have done, and in a masochistic manner - what a lot of work you have created :)
  16. Yeah - way to go Flash! Oh... Hold on... Bugger - Looks like it's me who has some work to do!
  17. Winvice is very good and has the added bonus of support for many more machines. I personally think that CCS nips it to the post for pure C64 emu quality. I used to be a programmer back in the golden 64 days (started in '84) and notice that a lot of the BUGS are better handled in CCS (this is a good thing). Also, CCS has better interupt timing and the screen refresh syncs to the monitor perfectly. So, out of a possible 100%, Winvice 91%, CCS 96% (but -5% because you need to register to remove the frequent nag - a pain from gameex execution) This leaves them both at 91%. but CCS pips it after registering.
  18. Well... It is playable, but the water effects are not correct. The fogging and alpha blends are non-existent.
  19. I'm sure the US one works - I will check when I get home from work..
  20. I don't get time to fully play all of them yet! (Perhaps when i retire), But i play them all past the intro screen and start the game. From what I remember it works fine. I am using the Usa release (cdi format, audio injected).
  21. I don't mind re-doing the game data. I am in the lucky position of having a laptop at work linked to my phone (hsdpa) and am also the manager, so I can get quite a bit done in the working day Looking forward to cracking on!
  22. Brian has a point. Go to the microsoft site and download the direct x 9a setup. You never know? You can install it over ver C etc. I use vista and needed it to run nuldc.
  23. You did, I'm afraid that you are losing it (twilight home for you )
  24. I have no idea - I was just impressed by the worlds quickest post Posted and answered at the same time, surely this is a first.. Just goes to show how knowledgable this forum is
