Thanks! I am always happy to help in any way I can. Our gallery that I linked to was constructed (initially, the entire site) to aid GameEx users and to compliment EmuMovies. I am open to requests for pictures (if I have the machines - though there are HUNDREDS left to photograph) and would do my best to provide them (though I would host at Retrobytesportal as some of the images are huge!) So, feel free to drop a line and I will see what I can do. Krakerman, don't feel you have to apologise, we are all here to help and I hope you make waves with learning how to do it yourself - that would certainly be another thing gained from the original topic.

It is nice to share images of consoles, and I am sure there are benefits to posting them for others, But... It would be nice for you to take some time learning how to cut backgrounds from the images yourself. You would certainly get a lot of satisfaction from it yourself. There are plenty of tutorials online that would help - it is not hard to do (really!) You post Game & Watch and I had mentioned the gallery I host. This contains 2 high quality G&W images that you must have missed Krakerman? Mario Bros & Parachute. FIND HERE Also, there was a high quality Oric for download (also Atmos), FIND HERE You can easily reduce the size in any paint package if they are too big for your purpose (just re-save as png to ensure transparency)

I do have a ton of machines that I intend to take HQ pics of at some point, so... requests can be mate at the site and I will see what I can do.
-
Again, very poor quality source images, so, not a lot can be done to improve them, But... here they are with the white removed.
-
Sadly the picture is over compressed and is of a fairly small size, This is the best I can do. (White is removed - retain as a .png file)

Tiny XP is not that quick, also, turn off (remove) all the extraneous software that is installed with it. Windows loads/starts a lot of drivers/code when booting. A lot of this can be disabled in msconfig. There is a ton of stuff you can (google) find online to tell you what services do what and stop the ones that your HTPC does not require. This can shave <10 secs off boottime. Also, the bios will spend a while setting stuff up and can (on some boards) take 10+ seconds. Things like inits for Raid, searches for network boots (also, networking is a great msconfig disable if not needed), ulp - floppy! Also, hibernate is perhaps one of the quickest ways to start, but this depends on ram size. The larger the ram the slower it will be. Any findings you have would be a great help to others that boot into GameEx. I will just make a note that a Win7 system is a great start for speed of boot. I have not looked, but I am sure there is a way to reduce the install in the same way as XP and Vista. Also, remember that all resident software (Daemon tools, antivirus - NOT Mcafee/Norton PLEASE, etc) all take there little chunk out of loading time and slowdown HD access during boot (Norton for example)

The linking/posting of cracked software and roms is against the rules of this forum and the link has been removed. Please do not post items of this type in future.

If you are referring to the information that is displayed prior to running a game, then yes! This info is stored in Microsoft Access files and contains several pieces of information that GameEx uses to display things like the year, publisher, etc. I cannot remember exactly where they are stored off the top of my head (I am at work at the moment), but a search within the GameEx directory for *.mdb will present them. But.. It is a lot of work to do (specially for a large system). I have just checked and the Virtual Boy DB is pretty much complete. If you are not getting matches, then perhaps your roms do not match one of the current naming conventions (No-Intro, Goodname, Tosec).
-
In your GameEx config for the Virtual Boy, you need to set the 'Rom Filter' to only show the .vb files, do this by adding *.vb to the config. The .ram files are the state of the Virtual Boys ram and are saved by the emulator. The simplest way to describe them is as save games. You will end up with once for each game. Hope that helps!

All the best to Tom, the forum team, and all the users of GaneEx, Have a wonderfull Christmas! Happy Returns!

The GameEx Database Project
greatflash replied to headkaze's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
The PS1 database is in the VERY early stages at the moment. There are a few games linked, but it is a VERY small portion of the games that are present in the DB. I am sure at some point the DB's will be updated more frequently, but for the time being, I am sorry to say - PS1 is on back burner (to the best of my knowledge) -
LOL! You, come up with something yourself? Silly Billy!! LOL Oh well, there goes the links! By the time you finish they will be 2 pages back! :)

Oh tempest!

NP mate. Brian, if you grab this, you will find the psd for the 800x600 version will be ideal for 640x480. Though, you would have to paste the graphics in. I will finish this I promise! There is just not enough time at the moment. I have so much going on that some things have to take a back seat. If anyone grabs this and wants help or anything - feel free to post and I will do my best!
-
Here are all the photoshop .psd files and templates to 1024x768 and 800x600 (and less). GRAB HERE (448 meg - my god!) Hope this is of use to someone?
-
Ok then, I will This is a link for the download of the current theme. This has several more updates than the last posted graphics etc. GRAB HERE (200 meg LOL) I will post the psd files etc in a bit (if they upload before my beddy byes)
-
No, I only did the demo screens for the lo-res version to show you. I think I still have the base psd file though. I will have a look through the external hds.
-
So, theme AND psd files? Hopefully after Christymussy I will get a chance to photograph more of the collection. BTW... I have opened the site linked in my tag to guests, they can now access the Gallery where there are quite a few pics and scans that may be of benefit to anyone wishing to enhance there themes/setup?
-
Ok, What I will do for now is upload the entire theme to my idisk or to ftp at some point and post a link? I have not touched the theme for QUITE a while (um, year of so), but I could post the photoshop files if anyone wants to play. I will get back to this at some point though - it even has timed audio and new sfx! (I was going to town on it!)
-
Of course I don't mind! I am used to you derailing my topics!!!

Right, Get you two together and there is always trouble brewing. As if Temp is not bad enough on his own.. LOL Well.. I still have all templates for this, so it will still come.. 3 things had put this on the back burner, 1) the databases (though - what the hell is happening there now?) 2) Warhawk DS 3) Manic Miner in the Lost Levels So, I will have some time soon to finish it. I have been buying more and more computers for myself personally and will get round to taking more pictures so the theme can have more hq icons rather than using the crap lo-res ones everyone else does. This will be a large (if not the largest) theme when finished. The upshot is that I WILL get this finished for 2 reasons, 1) I love the theme and it looks great on an HD plasma.. (still using it) 2) it is something I am really pleased with and I always promised Brian I would finish it! and, Tempest, what Bullshit? LOL - as if I ever have or would... :) Just to mention (as this shows) I am always hovering around here most days, and the reason I do not post is because I just have not had the time to keep up to date with the latest releases.. I REALLY must catch up...
