I am using an mixture of no-intro and goodname (and Tosec when needed) and all works perfectly? I have nothing goodmerged, because I absolutley hate goodmerge and it makes delays in the launch of a game when 20 different versions of an n64 (eg) game are unpacked just to run one of them. I get the wrong thumb now an again (as do I titles, box, etc) but this is because the names are not an exact match and sometimes Bonks adventure wll display bonks adventure II (example). I just cannot replicate your problem with my set up? and believe me I have tried!
-
I have sat here for nearly an hour and cannot replicate it on any system with thumb or no-thumb..??? I just cannot get the result you are getting. I have not got gameex setup for porn and jukebox so I have no idea if this makes a difference? Have you got the latest databases (out of curiosity). Take Beamrider as an example, what is the exact filename of the rom and the exact filename of the snap? Are they the same? Also, do they match ok in the normal list view? The only thing I can think is a bug with the switch to title display - I am still using the original release.
-
I like having the game snap as it is quite interesting to see the differend versions side by side in gameplay. Perhaps an option in advanced features to allow the flexiblity to select Snaps, Title, box, etc. That would allow everyone to have it how they want it!

Did no one notice the word "SOURCE" in caps.... Oh yes, well bloody done HK
-
I think the upshot is that he has deleted the games he does not want from gameex and realised that they are still present on the hd and hopes for a script to look at what has been deleted (flagged) in gameex and remove them from the directories. I think....
-
I am sure HK would know right away, but in his absence, are you sure the SOURCE files are extracted to the correct directory and not sitting in /Mame0128u4/Mame0128u4? They should be in the root of Mame0128u4.

Swear word has been censored by the newly founded "GameEx Anti-Curse Committee" Can't you not delete the games manually from your rom directories. There were some dat files released on this forum that reduced some sets (snes, etc) to the english only and removed hacks. I cannot find them at the moment but perhaps someone will provide a link? You could do a search in your rom directories for "[hack]" and delete the results, also (hack), (pd), (jap), (j), (de), etc and delete the results also. If you do not wish to have hacks and foreign language games. This relies on your roms being correctly named though.

Mame32 - Every game after loading screen goes back to GameEx
greatflash replied to wasko's topic in General
You need the romset from goodbase (v3 is the best one for now) and the rom renamer (I think it is in the stick with my config). This will rename all your roms and zip them. This will give you the roms in zipped format for use with GameEx. -
Fancy mentioning Asteroids and not Tempest - I know someone who can get a bit cross about that,... now what was his name???
-
I appears it was an error in the compile of mame? Not sure what as there were no compile errors. The only thing I did was enable the quad core optimisations, perhaps this causes a problem?
-
Regardless of "False positives" or "Bugs!" in the antivirus software, it matters not. The software is not working as intended and that I would class as a fault. The easiest solution is to "Junk" it and use another. And on this point I would agree with HK, NOD32 is the best. I have sung its praises many times here and will continue to do so. I have used this for many many years and have never had a problem with it and it also hogs next to no resources and never bugs the users. Like a good employee - it sits there quietly and gets on with it's job with perfection.
-
Sadly, I think it would be against the rules to post the modified mame here I have not had a chance to do anything as yet as I have been updated my website with some unreleased c64 games (mine), but i will have a play later! THANKS!
-
I am using the .128 vanilla, not a uX build. Perhaps I will try with the latest release? Thanks

Not sure if anyone has this or if (as bloody usual) it is just me? Have compiled mame .128 (full release) with support for highscores. I select a game from gameex that has highscore display support and run the game - that is fine! When I press "ESC" to exit, GameEx is no longer an active program and is only shown as a process. GameEx does not restore and the desktop is all I have to look at! If I close the process and run GameEx again then the SAME game (that now shows High Scores in the Info screen), the game exits fine and returns to GameEx a treat! If I then run another game that has highscore support, I get the same "non-return to gameex". All games without highscore support work fine, as do any that I have already run that have high score support? It only affects execution of the game the first time the highscores are added to GameEx... Could it be something I missed when compiling? Could it be I am pressing "ESC" a whiff on the hard side? Could it be something to do with quantum theory? Could it be them bloody squirrels again?? Any help would be great! EDIT: I tell A lie, just ran Gauntlet and the same happened! No return to gameex! Bugger and a few other expletives.

I have never been able to work out why people insist on using mameui for command line execution..? You are best to use the windows command line version of mame - this will also cure many problems. it may well be one of a number of problems, are you using any command line switches (triple buffer etc), these can also cause problems? Remove all if present and try again (personally - with mame.exe command line version) EDIT: Sorry, just looked through your logs and you are not using any switches that may cause problems (joy and no win).. Not sure if mameui (i dont use it) uses an ini to parse extra commands to the executable, others may be able to verify this. But there could be a problem there. My recommendation for the windows command line version still stands -
Mess works with everything but does have sound issues.. Have no idea about Mednafen, though it is great with other systems!
-
Slightly off-topic, but I tend to use Mess for all emulators, unless I am unhappy with the quality of emulation offered for a particular system. Wonderswan (colour and B&W) works well (apart from some sound issues) and is very easy to run from GameEx. If Oswan so much better? Perhaps I need educating! I do use Mednafen for a lot of other systems, and I belive that also supports wonderswan, though have no idea on the emulation quality.

Yes, the main body of the filenames must match. The text in ()'s is not needed.
-
It is worth a try, but I think it is a resolution issue. Tom would know better than I. I wish I could remember what cured it? I have a resolution currently at 1920x1200 and that works fine. Perhaps setting a slightly larger or smaller resolutiob and letting GameEx scale it will help?

I have had exactly the same problem a few times and ended up deleteing the theme.ini and starting again. I really cannot remember what caused it? Have you tried converting the theme to a V4 theme using the editor? May be worth a try?

GameEx not displaying C-64 game history/description from database
greatflash replied to IMBerzerk's topic in General
If you use the config that I posted for CCS in the configs sticky along with the Goodbase64 named roms, disk swapping will work fine. When you are playing a game in CCS and a swap is needed, press f10 and the rest of the disks will be displayed in the list ready to be selected. This works because in Gamebase64 all disks are contained in a single archive (much more practical than 1/2 2/2, etc) so that the whole archive is extracted to a temp directory and this is set as the path that CCS looks for the disks in. So, to recap... Use the goodbase64 bat file or dat (or both) to rename your c64 roms to zipped gb64 (or download!), then use the config found on the config sticky. This does rely on using ccs as the emu. But, as a ex-c64 programmer, I can vouch for this being the "SLIGHTLY" better emulator anyway. Hope that helps and best of luck!! -
GameEx not displaying C-64 game history/description from database
greatflash replied to IMBerzerk's topic in General
I will try to help here! The c64 database is in the VERY early stages (it needs 19,274 descriptions) and completion is a way off yet - long long way off! I have to concentrate more on the sega/nintendo crowd first to keep the majority happy.. In the c64 (using Axis Assassin as an example) The games are (so far) mostly named following the goodbase64 naming convention, so for axis assassin (great game) the filename expected (in this occurence) is "Axis Assassin (516)" though this entry does not have any data associated with it. Above is an entry with data, but this will be merged with the other and nointro/tosec added also. I have started at the 'numbers' and have left it alone a bit while working on Nintendo. If you wish to use the db's with the c64, I do strongly recommend using goodbase64 as a naming convention, this also allows various versions of the same game name (uk/us, pre/release) to be picked out easier. I can offer no real solution to you at the moment other than "hang tight", it will all get there at some point! -
Hey Tom, The HD (HQ) emumovies vids work perfectly for me. Also tried a Future pinball at 60fps 800x600 and it did not drop a frame. All of xvid, avi, divx work fine under FFDShow latest now. I used to have problems with the xvid fp vids under the older FFDShow where they played the video back at half the frame rate but the sound matched (wierd), but as i say - 100%

Yes Tempest, Why oh, Why oh (spells YOYO) are you changing names? It is the start of a slippery slope of name changing that could only end in the devistation of calling yourself "Asteroids"...
