  1. Now that GameEx works correctly with later versions of FFDShow, perhaps it would just be better to place a link to where to download the latest versions, rather than host the files locally (and maybe VCP also)? Have played with both the latest ffdshow, and Vista codec pack, and can confirm HK's post. There really is nothing to choose between the two now as both work perfectly. Perhaps the Vista codec pack is a slightly better option through the omission of the 2 system bar icons that are activated on FFDShow launch. Excellent work as always Tom.. 5 stars and perhaps even so far as to reward you with a nice gold moon. (Aaargh! Schooldays flashbacks)
  2. Tempest, you silly man... Sounds like something a sweet factory would have, not the name for a high-class cutting-edge piece of software!!! Gosh, I do despair at you sometimes........ WILLIE is a much better suggestion..
  3. Ok! Not Mellow then.... EMU - Emulator Multiloader Utitlity WILLIE - Wonderful Integrated Loader & Launcher for Irksome Emulators GULP - GameEx Ultimate Loader Program PHLEM - Program to Help Loading Emulators Magnificently MULE - Multi-launcher Utility for Loading Emulators Was trying to do something impressive with SQUIRREL, but it bit me and I don't have any idea how to get a bandage round that little thing.... Right, that is it now.... I have a headache and just know that Tempest will come back with something much better!
  4. I agree! I tend to do two things. 1) Export all your emulator settings (this is the one thing that may go wrong as a lot of options have been added) 2) make a copy of your gameex dir (as mentioned in last post) Install the new version. If all goes well - Great! If you find your emu setups have gone a bit strange, just import the ones you have saved and all will be fine. If anything really tragic happens (and I can not envisage anything?), post the problem here or just delete your new install and restore the backup.
  5. Or... "Multi Emulator Launcher, Loader, or Wrapper" M.E.L.L.O.W. MELLOW And that is how you should feel when using this simple software after all the angst and failures of a manual setup
  6. Well.. Why bloody ask then? Geesh, some people... I just don't care any more, Call it what you like! Call it XYZLaunch for all I care! Honestly!! Geesh! A2ZLaunch?
  7. three is a bit excessive
  8. "the 'sweet' wrapper" "Awesomo loader 3000" "Universal Launcher" "Multi Launch GX" "Multi Emultor Launching Loader wrapper thing" "Neville"
  9. Yeah BK should have a group all by himself! Some boards use a thanks system to alter a members grouping. But even this is open to abuse. Perhaps a member group that is set to 9999999 posts that can only be applied to a user by admin? BK deserves his "ultimate tag" and I am humble enough to say that I did not deserve mine (hence the "db" addition ). Well done on offering so much help to so many BK!
  10. Just another 46 posts and you will be "Super Mega Ultimate GameEx Guru" also.
  11. If you look on the last page of the "user submitted configs" topic, there is a setup there for winvice that will do all you need with the loading and memory mapping of vic20 cartridges (and disk images), depending on name format.
  12. You crazy Americans
  13. Sorry, but my loader was only for ccs not vinvice. It could handle crt images and also disk swapping. Have no Idea what has happened to the link though? EDIT: Just checked the links from the forum, and both the c64 and winvice (vic20) ones work for me? The vic20 one is still important as it also handless memory bank switching which is essential to get the games and carts to work.
  14. Who's funnier than Flash...? That's it, I resign! (yes, I know it was ages ago, Im not the fastest - but I get there in the end)
  15. I do seem to get a few of those
  16. system32 is (should be) automatically searched when an executable is not implicitly stated with full path.
  17. Yes, I will - promise!!!! Still working with getting hi-qual icons and background images, I just put it on hold to do the website and some major work on the DB... But I will finish it!!
  18. Please don't implement Roms in folders, or at the very least, have it turn-on-and-off-able (© ardman studios). Not only would unzipped have to be moved to temp (if it is not already), but I keep my rom folders in this fashion, <Romfolder>/all my roms that work <Romfolder>/Nonworking <Romfolder>/To Test This is particually helpfull for emu's like dreamcast and Saturn where emu is a bit hit-and-miss. If I keep the nonworking roms/iso's in a nestled folder then it is very easy to check and maintain them upon a new emulator release. Not sure if anyone else does this, but it is much better than keeping them all in the same directory and playing russian roulette everytime you launch a game from gameex.
  19. just about any "mid range" pc will run the dreamcast fine. I would not pursue the ps2 just yet - even a quad core and a nvidia 280 card will give you a maximum of 30fps with a lot of drops down to unplayable speeds, and the emulation is not worth the investment just yet! Even an older athlon64 and a mid range graphics card should be fine for Dreamcast though!
  20. You could try not pressing the H key... See if that helps and please report back?
  21. No, you will still retain your original settings. The new iso support is there if you choose to use it. "best of both worlds" as it were!
  22. The website is now fully functioning and the gallery has been expanded. I would love ideas from anyone on things that may be added and also how far I should go with the gallery? Should I include retro characters and adverts? Tom, thanks for letting me post this on here the website also now has 2 (linked) addresses www.RetroBytesPortal.com www.RetroBytesPortal.co.uk I will prob use .com as a main address and drop the terrible "greatflash" bit. I only started this a way to offer better images for theme creation... That is why I never gave it any real though for that site name...
  23. Bloody Yanks!!!
  24. No, not yet
  25. Sorry Tempest, you don't NEED to re-register, but it would be nice if you could The website is going through a bit of a major renovate at the moment, as I am sure you can see!! This will be the last time - promise.. (crosses fingers and hope Tempest did not notice!)
