  1. Try downloading GameEx and installing it again.
  2. GameEx shouldn't slow down your emulator. The only thing I can think of is your not setting NEStopia to start in fullscreen mode.
  3. I think I will allow 1 extra vote per person for someone elses request and an optional vote for a unique request. So my extra vote will go for "In-game music toggle and volume control". Emphatic: I added multi-key mappings to your request, since that is quite a popular request as well. That just means the ability to have more than one key assigned to a function.
  4. Having a look at the imported Nintendo NES (NEStopia) emulator config, the command line is nestopia.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" The quotes are important for games with spaces in the filename.
  5. I think this request would go along well with in-game volume control. Something like "In-game music toggle and volume control."
  6. Okay this is not for new feature requests (they go in the pinned topic at the top of the forum). This topic is your most wanted feature request that you've already requested. It means you get the opportunity to say what you would like to see in GameEx again without sounding like your nagging. There is no guarantee of a feature being implemented but it might help Tom better see the popularity of some requests. If a feature is mentioned twice or more it gets on the most wanted list with a running tally of how many people have requested the feature. You get two votes, one for a unique feature and the second for someone elses feature to add to the vote tally. So what are your two most wanted features? Here is mine as an example Eg. Your second vote should just be the name of a current feature on the list (this includes Pending Requests) Eg. GameEx Most Wanted Features [6 Votes] Menu wrapping [6 Votes] Browsing music in Jukebox by folder [3 Votes] In-game music toggle and volume control [3 Votes] Scroll through lists with a mouse / spinner / trackball (mouse moves list rather than selector bar) [2 Votes] Custom Control Panel viewer [2 Votes] Auto mount un-mount image files / multiple image file change [2 Votes] Letter jump in menu using Joypad Pending Requests [1 Vote] More flexibility for Themes / Theme Editor [1 Vote] Integrated full control key remapping / multi-key mapping / multi-button mapping [1 Vote] Custom Mame Background [1 Vote] More attract mode options (Eg. Slideshow & Music) [1 Vote] Play game now button (to skip info screen without turning it off) [1 Vote] Joystick / key mappings image display for emulators (other than Mame) [1 Vote] Slideshow via Jukebox ("Random SlideShow" under "Playlist More" option in the jukebox) Implemented [1 Vote] Support for 12 buttons in gamepad map keys, currently only 10 buttons are usable [6 Votes] Search [2 Votes] E-Book / Comic book reader support
  7. Okay comp is over, but I'm already registered anyway. So here are my favourite parts about GameEx.. - Setup (I was lucky enough to help out on this. And just to test it I wiped my cab and started again - it was alot easier second time!) - Features (More features than you can poke a stick at from playing DVD's to karaoke, it's an entertaiment machine) - Quality (The quality of GameEx matches commerical equivalents. The whole look and feel of GameEx from install to running is top quality) - Graphics (It looks sexy and it's skinnable :-) ) - Themes (Take a look at some of those hot themes by people like Amos. It really adds to the experience) - Customization (How many options and tweaks can you get in software? It caters for many tastes and needs) - Plugins (Thanks to plugin feature a LEDWiz adds to the coolness of my cab. Sometimes I boot up my cab with jukebox just to create a nice atmosphere) - Active Development (It's nice too see new features been added all the time) - Support (Users who come on the forum and keep helping others just for the love of the hobby and GameEx) - People (from end users to experts the people involved in GameEx are great people) - Tom (not only a great programmer but a top bloke to boot!) - Bragging Rights (showing visitors the arcade machine wouldn't be the same without GameEx)
  8. You can do this in either the Setup Wizard or Advanced Configuration. They are both available under Start->Programs->GameEx.
  9. Forum Guidelines and Rules
  10. I've also got GameEx working using the K-Lite codec pack, you can follow my post in this thread. It also has a registry fix for the official DivX so the screen doesn't go black when attempting to play a DivX video.

  12. What do you mean "JoyToKey outputs arn't received correctly"? I believe you have to set the joystick mode to 8-way otherwise it won't work.
  13. Yes your right jthompson he needs to install .NET Famework 2.0 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en
  14. Great list! It's also worth having a browse of the BYOAC game review forum.
  15. A nice feature idea to make debugging easier in the future. When the GameEx log is displayed on an error, there could be a button to "Send Error Report to Specsoft". There is probably a small percentage of users that have a crash and don't spend the time to report it on the forum. This way you can browse through error messages sent to the server and identify common problems. You could also add a special check in GameEx when it boots to see if it crashed last time it ran, and give the option to send an error report then also.
  16. Just copy the GameEx folder to a pen drive, then install GameEx on the rebuilt machine, then copy over the GameEx folder with the backup. Mame32 has no install so you can just copy the Mame32 folder across onto the new drive.
  17. Installing over the top of should not mess with your current settings. Although some people backup their GameEx folder just to be on the safe side. Personally I've never needed to do that.

    More bugs!

I'm not exactly sure what this is, but the SetupWizard shouldn't save a setting unless you change it. Recently I added a hidden feature to the Setup Wizard so Tom can reset all settings to default. But I can't see how that would effect your current settings. I've noticed myself that occationally some settings will change when installing a new version. This is without running the Setup Wizard. So I'm not sure what it could be. Perhaps Tom has some ideas?
  19. I'm pretty sure that 7Zip support also includes regular zip files. I'm not sure, give it a try.
  20. Hehe some emulators are touchy in many different ways. That's why something like GameEx is really pulling off something special when it can (with a bit of work) run a whole host of emulators. BTW have you tried enabling 7Zip support for VP in GameEx? Shouldn't that unzip your zipped ROMs for you?
  21. Does karaoke work okay when playing the files directly in Windows Media Player?
  22. I was testing the new Model 2 wrapper last night and everytime I pressed my credit button it would exit out. I couldn't figure it out. Somehow my player 1 coin key was registering as escape. Finally I tracked down the problem to my coin mech, the two wires connecting it were touching each other. I knew that would come back to haunt me one day. A bit of electrical tape solved that! All is good now
  23. Okay I've done an update to the model2 wrapper (using the maximize method), but I need people to test this. If you can test this and report back any non-working ROMs, or any other issues please. Hopefully we can iron these out before the next release of GameEx. Instructions 1. Copy the m2loader.exe to your GameEx folder (GameEx will automatically copy this loader to your model2 folder before launching) 2. Run a model2 game from GameEx. 3. Report back here any working/non-working ROMs or issues m2loader.zip
  24. I wish emu coders would just add command line parameters, it would save alot of work! I guess maximizing the window would help, or perhaps manually scrolling the list down. To be honest I thought my wrapper would work even if the list needed scrolling down. I'll have to take a look some time.
  25. The Setup Wizard has now been updated to allow changing order and sorting emulators without screwing up your favorites. It should be out in the next release.
