  1. Me either
  2. Tom's the only one that can edit the FAQ, so I guess if he sees this thread and thinks it's worth adding he will.

In the Setup Wizard select the Search wizard mode. Type in "clones" in the search bar, then turn them off.
  4. My last post was really just to separate the two methods and since he already has Tweak UI installed he might as well stick with that one. Thanks, and you are too mate
  5. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt enoch, but it's really innapropriate to say things about the author who we all very much respect here. It's the quickest way to get ignored and/or banned. Your comment "hint, hint to the spe god." may not be meant in a smart arse way but it's very much close to crossing the line IMHO. There has been a tonne of work to make GameEx setup as easy as possible but I'm sure if GameEx went fully commercial like Maximus Arcade it would allow Tom some extra time to devote to making it easier. Personally I think people would prefer it to remain free with the optional donation. That of course is all debateable. I have read over your posts and to be honest most of them make no sense to me. You are not clearly explaining what your doing and what is failing. When I setup Daphne I did have to edit some frame files manually, as you say sometimes they are wrong, or have the paths incorrect. You need to edit them to suit your setup. Perhaps you could post a framefile here, along with a snapshot of your settings in GameEx for a particular game, and we can help you get it working. Once you figure out how to get a few games working the rest should be easier to set up. There is a learning curve involved with setting up a FE and everyone has to go through that. A year or so ago it was 10 times harder to setup, so there have been substancial improvements on making it easier over the last year or so. So bear with us, stay calm, write clearly what your trying to achieve and what is not working and we will try our best to help you.
  6. I doubt Instant Sheller caused any harm to your computer. All Instant Sheller does is edit the registry (although the boot logo stuff might be a bit riskier to use - I would probably just not use that part of it but there havn't been any reports of it being problematic). It's quite easy to undo what Instant Sheller does, you can always get back your desktop by pressing Ctrl-Shift-Esc to bring up Task Manager and then select File->Run->explorer.exe. There are other ways to remove your desktop quite easily. - Set your wallpaper to black - Rightclick your desktop select Arrange Icons By->Show Desktop Icons (to remove icons) - You can set the Taskbar to autohide, but GameEx hides it when you run it anyway - You can place GameEx in the Startup folder and GameEx will start when you boot up the machine Personally I have no issue with using Instant Sheller though.
  7. The reason he was posting is because "i have that option ticked in the tweakui but i'm thinking i did something in the registry edit". And I replied saying you don't need to edit the registery when using TweakUI to set auto login because that's essentially what it does - edit the registry for you just via a GUI instead of regedit. The above post will just confuse him as you don't need to do all that when using Tweak UI. Go with the Tweak UI method and forget using the registry or "control userpasswords2" method.
  8. enoch tone down your swearing please. Read rule 6 of the Forum Rules & Guidelines
  9. Another person had this exact same problem recently. The way he solved it was to re-install the .NET Framework 2.0. You can read his post here
  10. I don't mean to jump on katuuuz about search but he does tend to lose his temper and post before trying search. He was actually talking about an old post he made, so usually finding a post you made yourself is not too difficult. You know what they say, "...teach a man to fish..."
  11. http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/suppo...me=MSCOMCT2.OCX (found by typing the error into Google) Read the second part of the page after Alternatively
  12. Several places, you can use the Setup Wizard to download the theme, or you can try Night's GameEx theme site.
  13. - You can turn off your icons by right clicking the desktop and selecting Arrange Icons By->Hide Desktop Icons. I guess Tweak UI just changes the same registry entry - There is the "control userpasswords2" to auto login to an account or the Tweak UI method does the same thing. There is no need to edit the registry to do that. - You don't edit the BIOS for any of that. - You can always use the search feature on this forum to find the old posts.
  14. No ROM requests please. http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?act=boardrules
  15. Probably not going to be this, but I had a time when my two wires connecting my coin mech were touching which then made my 5 button also register as ESC. It puzzled me for a while, so perhaps you should check your wiring. There is a program on this form I think called KeyHook or something that will show you what keys are being pressed. Something to try anyway.
  16. No I took his first vote "custom control panel viewer" and his unique vote "mouse/spinner/trackball". Oh I see I've messed up and counted the volume control 3 times. I will change that back to two. Thanks for pointing it out.
  17. No you don't need to install Advance Mame. Just make sure the paths to your ROMs are setup properlly in the Setup Wizard (under Basic Mame Options), then do a List Update in GameEx.
  18. Err, not sure where are the posts for the other two votes for this one? EDIT: I don't count requests from the pinned topic, they will have to place their vote here too.
  19. Added
  20. I can only take one vote per person otherwise it's not a very ballanced voting system. You can have 1 unique vote and 1 vote for an existing request. It's fine to put a list of features you want, but I will only use the first in your list.
  21. If you make the button pure black it will not show.
  22. I don't think Tom actually calls it freeware or donationware. The payment for the registered version is called a donation because it is optional, it removes the nagscreen. I guess you could call it nagware if you wanted to. The features that are disabled for unregistered users are features that have been added to reward people who have donated; they have not been removed to cripple the unregistered version. While that may seem like a fine line to some people it boils down to this; GameEx is free software that encourages donations by having a nagscreen and rewards registered users by giving them extra features. GameEx as unregistered software is still fully functional for it's intended purpose. The bonus features like Karaoke, 7Zip support etc. are not required to run it as an HTPC software or Arcade Front End. I can see your points as being valid though, it could be considered shareware, nagware, crippleware to some people it all depends on the way you look at it. But I don't think Tom actually calls it anythingware on the website so I don't see the false advertising. By calling it free, is not necessarily calling it freeware and calling the optional payment a donation is not necessarily calling it donationware. But what do I know?
  23. Finally, that wrapper was a nightmare! Great find Stu.
  24. 1. Do you have .NET Framework 2.0 installed? (You can check by selecting Start->Programs->GameEx->Log file) 2. Do you have a folder called C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 with the file I posted inside? 3. If you do a search on your HDD does it find "System.EnterpriseServices.Wrapper.dll" other than the location above? If so delete it so it is only in the above location. 4. If the above folder is not available re-install .NET Framework 2.0
  25. Are you sure you have .NET Framework 2.0 installed on your machine? I did a search on Google for this error and it seems a few people have had this problem with other software. I will attach the file which I found in C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 Others have reported conflicts with different versions of this file that is released with some software. You could also try copying this file into your C:\Program Files\GameEx folder. Let me know how you go. System.EnterpriseServices.Wrapper.zip
