  1. Personally I don't see why anyone would be using Mame32 if they are using GameEx as a FE. You don't need Mame32 for use in GameEx.
  2. I think this is a cool idea because they will show up on GameEx Live. Or is that what they were meant for?

    inet wondering

Do you have wifi connectivity enabled?
  4. Okay rolled back to Catalyst 5-10 drivers and with that exe you posted it runs great. I love the new alpha blending, looks really smooth So perhaps there needs to be an option to turn of ATI optimizations. They may only work with newer cards since ATI 9800 Pro is a very old card now.
  5. Hey Tom just tried that exe and it's even slower. I can count about 3 seconds inbetween each frame of it zooming in and out alpha blended (in 3d alphablended mode).
  6. Okay tried the latest Catalyst drivers and it's actually worse than before. I'll be changing to 2D transitions until this gets fixed. Also the newer Catalyst driver seems to make my background videos pause longer when scrolling through the Mame list. I'm showing video snaps too, but I'm pretty sure the pause wasn't this bad. I might roll back to the older video drivers now we have that ticked off the list. UNRELATED: I've also noticed for a while that scrolling through the lists with the small images that zoom out will chug along when you scroll through the list quickly by holding down the joystick/keyboard. What is happening is that it's zooming each picture out while your scrolling down but it should be skipping them and only showing it when you release the button. EDIT: Oops missed Tom's post.. I'll try this exe and get back to you. Thanks mate.
  7. Just updated to version 8.76 and am experiencing a major speed hit with alpha blended transitions. I'm guessing it's due to recent updates for ATI and/or alpha blended transitions. They are really choppy and slow now. I have a Radeon 9800 Pro. I havn't updated my video card driver in ages so I'm wondering if it's a good idea to do that (are the recent fixes for newer ATI drivers perhaps?). Last version of GameEx I had (around 8.73) was incredibly fast during alpha blended transitions. I guess this is a message for Tom mainly. Bug report?

    Two questions

I'm getting the same issues with the forum too.
  9. Check out the BootLogo program, it allows you to create a boot logo with animated bar. It includes a Mame logo in the archive. http://www.gameex.net/Download/MediaandIma...86/Default.aspx
  10. Build .118 introduces some issues with GameEx that havn't been addressed yet. The new input system means that GameEx can't automatically skip the disclaimer screens anymore. You will need to find the 118 patch on here and use that instead (the patched versions of Mame is a more efficiant way to skip disclaimer anyway) Some keycode constants have changed to support multiple keyboards and mice which means you may need to delete some cfg's and recreate them. I havn't had much of a chance to find exactly what needs to be done yet. As more people upgrade to it I expect more posts about this. Also just extending on what Brian was saying about setting up the keys in GameEx. If you go to the Setup Wizard (Start->Programs->GameEx->Setup Wizard->Custom->Keyboard Input). You can press the keys to change the input rather than need to look up the VK keycode.
  11. That ffdshow build is now available on the main GameEx site under Wrappers & Utils download area.
  12. Great work Brian
  13. Sorry mate I can't think of what could be causing your problems. I don't actually own the sign myself but I believe there have been a few people on here who have tested the plugin on a Betabrite and confirmed it as working. I would suggest you download Sysinternals PortMon program and compare the output generated by Mala with my plugin's output. That might help identify the source of the problem.

    NullDC WIP

I certainly don't want to drag up issues from other scenes onto this board, but you have to remember in many of the emulation scenes and forums on the Net there are a lot of young people. And they generally don't know how to conduct themselves in a polite manner online. This is why the more mature places, like here and BYOAC you don't get that sort of behaviour. And I for one won't tollerate it on here. I wouldn't feel the need to be bitter at the coders or the fine work on NullDC itself because they let it happen. You can't possibly moderate the diverse audience an emulator attracts. If you want to discuss this further, feel free to PM me about it.
  15. I was going to suggest that, but I really had no idea if it was true. It's not something I've discovered. I always turned Anibak off in my themes because it was a performance hit I didn't think worth the effect. Sorry mate, I would have helped if I knew the answer I don't think this was a fishing one, searching wouldn't have helped solve this
  16. Thanks Tom Did you know that the TransparentBlt API function had a GDI leak in it? I remember that from back when I was coding in VB6 and had to write my own custom method. Just a bit of trivia I did an auto-update and I still seem to get an error message after the download has finished (it's just a .NET broadcast message with no info), but the install continues and works fine. I'll have to try adding videos back to attract mode because last few times I ran my cab in attract it would crash to a black screen. Turning off videos seemed to fix it. I'll add back videos and let you know if there are any problems.
  17. Yeah the link on the website must be down. Trying auto-update... Cheers Tom

I wouldn't put NullDC or it's coders in the same category as dumpers/users/scene etc. If that's what your referring to by being sour on the subject.

  20. Yup V3 themes are not out yet.
  21. The simple answer (for now) is don't use the Advanced Configuration use the Setup Wizard. Open up the Setup Wizard and select Custom then put a tick next to "Emulator Selection" *and* "Emulator Setup". Then you can use the Setup Wizard to add and configure up to 255 emulators. If there is a problem doing this or bug, please let me know.
  22. Here is a specially compiled version of the Setup Wizard to support 255 emulators. I'll send this on to Tom for inclusion in the next release. I can't imagine anyone wanting more than that! SetupWizard.zip
  23. I'm not getting corrupt rar's but I dont have the codec to play these videos and I have K-Lite Codec pack. Perhaps I need a newer version for these?
  24. I remember when I bought Counter Strike and took it home. Messed around with Steam for half an hour. Signed up, then tried the game. And it told me it was an invalid serial number. I loath Steam with a passion. I ended up having to get a pirate version of the game just so I could play it. Still wouldn't work on the Internet though.
  25. Not sure what you mean by "pixel shading issues" but I don't like horizontal backgrounds much, they look terrible when you scroll the page, and can have a flickering effect on some monitors. If I had to use a background like that I'd make it non-scrollable (<body background="backdrop.jpg" bgproperties="fixed">). As for the ads, I believe Tom tried putting them in IFrame's which should load them separately to the page. You know it could be a setting on the server or something but I don't see how CSS could work better than an IFrame. Still anything is worth a try at this point.
