  1. Took Frequency's reply and did some testing. On a system that games are added often like Nintendo DS, the only way to update the map file is by maually deleting the map file and letting a new one be created. Maybe a way within GameEx to delete ythe current map file and generate a new one would be the way to go. Kinda like what Mame does with a new version. Also if I use merged roms. I get a large number of files in the map that are duplicates. In my list I will see the same rom listed several times, even with merge turned on. Believe this is happenng because of the different naming convictions used by No-Into. TOSEC, Goodroms and Darkwater. Manually creating the Map file fixes this problem. Only thought I have for this is to have a different map file created for each folder. (No-Intro, TOSEC etc) then some how merge these map files thru GAMEEX. Would be awsome if there was a way to show the roms you don't have in the map with a different color.
  2. I currently use a map fie on many of my systems. I run all my games thru CLRMamepro, which already has a dat file. No-Intro and TOSEC dats are updated while often. When a new game is added to a dat file, I have to edit the map flle to include the new games. Would it be possible to use the dat file instead of the map file. Seems like a lot of effort to update the map files when No-ibntro and TOSEC is already doing much the same thing already. If it doesn't or if it can't presently be done, would any of the other users see a need for a request. Systems like the Ninteno DS are updated almost daily at No-intro.dat.

  5. Gonna go with fRequEnCy on this one. Karaoke song disc are only expensive when they first come out. After they are out a while you can get some really good specials on sets. Yes you get a lot of songs that you may not like. But, there is always someone that wants that song. I have been amazed of people at my house, gonning nuts over a song I've never heard of much less liked.
  6. Did some testing. I have GameEx on my C drive. My roms and media is on another. I pointed my files to the media, Database and the map file. I did not point it to my rom folder. If GameEx can't find the roms it won't show the system. It also starts fine without an error msg. In testing when gameex loads it does not load the settings for the system or the database for the system. It appears GameEx will not load the settings or the database if it can't find the roms, even with the map file.
  7. Did the same thing, spending months filling in missing titles. Drove my wife crazy. But she likes the end results. I didn't go to the extend of renaming them by artist. Would like to find a way to pick a button to either sort them by artist or title. Would agree with you about which company is the best. I do have a number of other companies that are (in my option)better. Haven't upgraded to some of the newer cd's lately, so as time permits, thats my next goal.
  8. Thank You
  9. I too use GameEx to run Karaoke alot. Would like to know how everyone has their's set up. Currently the only thing I find missing is the ability to show folders so I can setup by Sunfly, Dk etc.
  10. Thanks everyone for the input. I am running two internal drives and 7 externals on my pc. I do run into a problem after 5 externals having the main pc dropping the externals. Currtly have 150 different systems emulated and over 12TB of games.I run the movies on my labtop thru my TV. But the games I run thru my PC or cab. When you add in flash games, pc games, music, frets on fire etc. That adds another 6TB of files. Just like the rest of us, I spend alot of time setting up systems, finding snaps etc. If Gameex reads the map files, will I still have to have the drives connected or will the list populate from the map files without the drives being acessed. With the drives networked, it would be cool if GameEx didn't access them until I decided to play a game.
  11. Thank you Guys
  12. Wouldn't has the first idea how to set it up. Would I need a seperate computer for each of my external drives. Could I run it wireless. Would I still have the problem of speed. I have networked several of my computers. Could my laptop be the server. Would this solve my load time problems. I would think GameEx still needs to load all the drives to load and populate my game lists.
  13. Good morning all, Do to the large number of games, music, movies etc. that I have,I run no less than 9 external drives. I have tried using cd's or dvd's and find that to be a pain. GameEx is on my computer's main hard drive. Snaps, etc are on another drive. Roms are on drives based on type of system. CD systems are on one, cartridges on another. Music on one, movies on one, etc. Due to the long loading times I only want to hook up the drive for the type games that I will be playing with or working on. This I hope will reduce load times and speed up my older computer. What I want to do is have all my roms, snaps etc. show up even when my drives are not hooked up. Can I do this with a map file and will this then access the database, snaps etc. Since the database is set to use No-intro, Goodroms, and TOSEC. Could I access my have and or missing dats and have my lists populated based on these. Would be cool if the have dat games would be green and the missing dat games red. Then when in GameEx I would know what games I still need. As I add more and more systems (and more games) my number of drives are only going to increase. A final note if map files are the way to go, can I use map files for movie files, music, karaoke an music videos. Thanks for a great frontend and community.

    hyperspin

I wouldn't want the wheel either. But would look cool to have the images moving around in the theme. Just my take.

    hyperspin

I think for what ever reason, he wants to run hyperspin thru GameEx. Why I don'y know. Have seen several in our forums wanting to do this. So as not to make this topic a complete waste. Since GameEx will run FLV's, could a theme be created using the Hyperspin themes. Draco???????????????

    Off-Topic

Morning all, Have connected my laptop to my tv with a HDMI cable and get a great picture, but no sound. When I turn on the TV my speakers turn off on my laptop, but nothing comes out of the tv speakers. Have checked and I have the latest updates to my sound card. (NIVA) What am I doing wrong. Thw divice manager shows I'm hooked up to the HDMI and audio is going out. Any ideas

  21. System icons are already available thru the web. I have an icon for most systems already, (In anticipation for the time when this feature is made available) When in the favorites list, with the system icon displayed, you would know instantly what system the game is for. (My icons look like a miniture of the system snap.)Game icons now are a different story, a number of sites have icons for a number of games but it would be a nightmare rounding them all up. This would be a great add for Emumovies. Icons for systems and games all in one location. An additional field in GameEx and we are ready to go.
  22. Thanks Tom.
  23. I like the idea. In fact ,myself and a few others have asked for this in the request forum. I'm sure when Tom has time, he will look at such a request. It maybe something that is more complex then what we think.
  24. Thanks Tom, The best keeps getting better!
