    Beta DB's

Thanks Stu Does access have to be install on your computer to read these databases into GameEx or does GameEx have the ability to read them on its own. Also if you have both map files and databases, does one override the other. I assume I can go into the databases and use the database rom name and rename my roms to the name in the database for systems that don't have Goodtools files. I have a number of roms that Goodtools classfies as unknown. Can I edit my personal copies of these databases to add these. Is there any hope of the databases including snaps, manuels boxart, etc. in the future. May be able to acess the pics in the dat files of Offline tools. Have tried to use these in Gameex, but that function doesn't seem to work. Is there available an empty database available so that I and others might start working on other systems that aren't quite as common. Some I'd like to see are flash games, Frets on fire etc. As well as other game systems. Dennis

    Beta DB's

Hello all Can't wait to see the new db. But have some questions. When I check the box with the current database in the wizard, I asssume that GameEx will look in your roms file and correct the name to the one in the database and display that in GameEx. I find that it doesn't always do this. Is this because the game is not in the database. And is this not the same thing that a map file does. I assume that the database will also display other things like it does in Mame. But, where does that information show up. Is you check both map files and databses, does one override the other. In several other front ends that I beta tested, when you used the databases it displayed all the games in the database in the list and change the color for the games you didn't have. This would be a neat feature for GameEx and would make good use of the databases. Is someone going to maintain these databases and allow other users to send in updated information. Lots of GameEx users could update various things and upload to the website to be included in the databases. Long term, could the databses also contain the screenshots etc in the databases. I feel that this would be a excellent feature. GameEx could have a feature that when clicked would go in and update the databases, screenshots or both. Similar to what Offline lists does now. 4. Love the idea , headkaze like the way you have done it.
  5. Gotta go with Good tools because of the naming of snaps. Also like to seperate sets by country. One day if gameex allows seperate directories for emulators, you'll be able to seperate out what you don't want.

    Handy Problem

When I try to run Handy for LYnx in full screen mode, it only shows the top half of the screen. Does this when ran on its own or under GameEx. Is there a switch or something I need in the run command line to correct this.
  7. Gonna go with search. Especially if it includes multiple folders like multimedia for games. Would luv to be able to have folders under each emulator for USA, Japan, Europe etc for roms. Use Good tools and breaks them up for me into folders by country. Starbuck

  9. My mother-in-law had a stroke last month and is getting better with each passing day, as will your mom. Prayers for your family Starbuck
  10. Well deserved Brian Starbuck
  11. Brian, Tom,Headkaze, Nologic Thank You all. Now I can really go to town. Thats why GameEx is the best. Always someone ther to help. Starbuck
  12. I am doing it the way you suggested. If you just use the default emulators in setup you almost fill up the amount currently available. Starbuck
  13. Currently 105 if you inclue stepmania, frets on fire, alot of the mess emulators, SWF games etc etc
  14. How do I increase the number of emulators I can have Read thru the forum that it can be done but not how. Thanks Starbuck
  15. Hi Tom, Not complaining, just reporting a bug. Think that GameEx is excellent. If I didn't i wouldn't have donated over double the amount you suggested. Did go back and look at my backyup update ini when it happened and it had went back to the original. Haven't done anything new to Gameex in days but the autobackups and play games. Could have been anything, maybe i did something without knowing. Just posted the bug in case. I read a little more of the forums everyday to get a better feel for the frontend. Having beta tested for a lot of front ends, I think Gameex is the best ever and it only gets better with each update. Regards Starbuck
  16. Nasty bug encountered When Gameex installed the new update, I lost the words on the start menu - emulated games. When I ran Gameex config, I found that all 39 of my emulators had been wiped out. As I can't find where gameex has a restore feature I am restoring them all by hand Hope I can remember what my various commands were. had a lot of things running under Gameex that i haven't seen on forum(Flash Games, Spectravision). Also changed my settings for karaoke. Didn't seem to effect anything else in multimedia. Oh well Starbuck
  17. Where it asks for an extension in your config setup set as *.cdg. Make sure the files are unzipped and the cdg files and mp3 files are in the same directory.

    Snaps

Thanks for the replys, Having lunch with Richard(Apollo) on Saturday. Will tell him Jay says Hi. Will check out your replys when I get home tonite. Know emulators will make snaps but some systems like Nes , I have over 11,000 games. Make take a while doing it manually. Have dl all the torrents but still have lots of blanks I would like to fill in. Thought gameex might be able to do it faster. Another feature I would like to access is increasing the number of emulators I can use. The default is 43 but I would like to increase that higher. I read on the forum that it could be changed. Thanks again gentleman

    Snaps

Hello everyone, How do I get gameex to make snaps of games instead of videos, Looked thru pass posts, and i'm sure i'm just missing it
  20. Posted in feature request
  21. Thanks for the reply Nologic Is there a way for GameEx just to display the games in your database weather you have game or not, another frontend I beta tested for did this and then changed the color on the ones you had. Worked neat because you then knew what games you needed. Thought GameEx did this with offline lisits but it doesn't nor will it display the scans from offline lists
  22. Confused what the databases do Added a number of the databases such as the PC Games database when I run GameEX all I see are the games in my directory Would think all the games in the database would show up
  23. The way I do it is: C:\Television shows c:\ Mu\idic Videos C:\commercials what T think he wants is to group all under one header and have GameEx break it out
  24. Thanks bkenobki how do i know what codec it using and where do i find them to edit them
