  1. Any timeline for a release yet.
  2. Sounds good Adultry.
  3. Thanks Adultry, Trying to make those changes you suggested for the loading screens, but not making much headway. Figure once I get the templete I uploaded looking right, I should be able to add the graphics.
  4. I have a large number of emulated systems in GameEx. I use map files for my game lists. This way all the media that I have collected shows up for all the games available for each system. I store all my games on removeable drives. On my cab I own have 3 to 10 favorite games actually available for each system. I have edited the map file and for the ones that are avaiable I have colored yellow. My cab users get to see all the games for a system and they know that the only playable games are the ones in yellow. In the first snap you see the game list with the top three games in yellow. These are the ones that are playable.I make my map files using map magician using clrmame pro dat files. I then edit the files manually for the ones I have available. I would like the colored games to be in the list alph so that a user has to scroll thru the list to find the games available. That way they get to see some of the great games available for each system. My problem is when I first open GameEx the list shows up as in the first snap. After I play a game and go back to the list the colors are gone. See snap two. The only way to get the colors back is to exit Gameex and reload. Any idea what is happening.
  5. Thanks for the feedback Adultry. First things I've done in Gimp. I'll have to refer to Draco for the thoughts you have, The changes sound cool, but beyond me at this point. As I continue to learn, I'll try to made those changes. Next I want to try to do some emulator screens for some of the systems, I use that you haven't made yet.
  6. For those wanting to make your own system loading screens here is a zip of the psd and xcf files. I've also inclued a png of what the file locks like so that you can import and add your touches. Enjoy
  7. I'll go back into Gimp and figure out how to do that and upload them.
  8. And the balance.
  9. Here are my first set of loading screens. I have them indivdually and as a zip for all. I have shown here the first 7 and the rest in the following post. Special thanks to Adultry for a great theme. Also thanks to Tom and the others for their help.
  10. Thank you
  11. Being since I too, am a purist, Maybe Adultery can upload his dark brick file, so everything matches exactly.
  12. Thanks all, This goes back to a thread I wrote awhie back about others making screens to supplimate existing themes. We have so many great themes available and many more coming. A thread where we could submit new screens for the existing themes would be great. On that note: Adultery do ya think this would look better with the darker brick in place of the black. If so I'll just have to learn how do that. Always a purist. You can't do wrong with perfection .
  13. Tom Would it be possible to add a second control path, so a user could see the loading scrren and then the control panel screen before a game loads. Also then we still have the flexability to hit a button and still have the control panel come up, if we need it and not the game loading screen.
  14. Thanks Draco
  15. Morning nullPointer, I don't want the above screens to show up as a snap etc. I want the screen to show up full screen before the game loads like the control panel does for each emulator.
  16. Isn't the control path what we use to show the controls.? I have yet to set up the controls from Adultry that he made for his theme. But want to. To use them its my understanding that the picture name must match the emulators name. So using that path will not allow me to show controls. I tried this with the loading screens and nothing shows. I pointed controls to the loading screens directory and renamed them to the consoles name, but nothing shpows up.
  17. Hi Tom, Thanks for the reply. By "Instructions" path, do you mean the option to enter help???
  18. I am using the MegaMame theme. Would like to have a screen show before each game loading such as the ones attached.. I believe I just need a bat file showing the png file in the start before. Any ideas. As my Gimp skills improve, I may go ahead and change the black backgrounds to the brick that the theme is using.
  19. Thanks Tom
  20. A lot of good themes have been happening lately and the developers are kind enough to provide templetes and files for those who want to produce additional screens for them. Would there we a need to have a new forum, where we could list each of the themes, If a user made a new screen it could be submitted for others to have available, under that theme. Maybe we could just have the updated files listed under the theme download area itself. Developing a new theme requires alot of time and has a learning curve. Making additional screens perhaps would be a good practice for theme development and would make many of the new themes even better. I for one would feel better cutting my teeth on making some new screens, before ever trying a full fledge theme.
  21. I have alot of media for the various emulators in my cab. When I go to Mame it only shows 4 or 5 of them and then the last shows the word MORE. When I click on MORE it show the manual and nothing more. I have the paths all correctly in the setup but it appears GameEx only shows parts of them. In my other emulators, only 4 or 5 medias show up and they rest are not being accessed. Am I missing a setting or is this a restriction of GameEX.. I believed that since you could point each of the different medias thru setup, they would all show up.
  22. Tried using the hex codes in a map file and unfortunately many of the emulators won't run the game as the hex code alters the name so emulators won't run the games or simply won't reconize the rom as a valid name. Due to the number of emulators I'm running (Over a hundred in Mess alone) I only have a handfull of my favorite games for each system under each. Since lists take up very little HD space and doen't slow GameEx down. I've wanted to have the ability to show all games I have for each system and show all the great media I have for each of the the systems and games. If a player wants to be able to play a game that shows up but is currently not available on my cab, its an easy matter to add that game from my removeable drives to the cab. Adding hex codes was easy because I had a sign made that said all games are avaible on request. Only the games in green are on the cab. Since I only had a handful of games for each system on the cab, I only had to add the color code to a few games for each system. If I a added a game or removed a game from a system, it was easy to go to the map file and change the hex code for the new or removed game. I also like the color idea for the regions. Currently I run a seperate emulator for the different regions, hacks, homebrew etc. Kind of like what you do for your Mario hacks. I have requested several times for folders for emulators, but I'm sure I'm one of a few that would like to see this so its not high on Tom's list. Using your utility, I will run a scan on my removeable drive for a system and create a mapfile for eavery game I have for a system. Then as you stated I will go in and add a hex coe for the handfull of games I have for the system on my cab.Doing this as a player scrolls thru the games list for a system they get to see all the great games that were for a particular system thru the videos, snaps, box art etc. This never fails to spark conversations and arquments about what was the better game for a system or which system was the best. If your utitly had a option to put a check mark next to the games you have on your cab and colorize those rom names that would be fantastic. I still wonder if the games would be reconized because oif the hex code and run. In closing looking forward to your release. I'm interested to see how emulators and GameEx handles the colors. Thanks as always to all you do.
  23. Thanks Adultry, will give it a try when you are ready to release it. I very much want to be able to have a map file that has colors for games you have and don't have. This way I can present a list of all games on my cab and just color the ones currently available. Have tried to do it in a map file and thru map magician and could not get Gameex to play the games. Would it be possible for a map file to display flags for the different countries.
  24. When you are scrolling thru the selections on the start page, you get snaps for Mame, last played, most played etc. You get nothing for emulated games. Could a feature be added that would put the snaps or videos for the different emulators in this box. GameEx would just have to look in a folder either in the theme or one we select, and cycle thru these images.
  25. Thank you Tom
