Hey I didn't even know this section of the forum existed! I've had the main GameEx forum saved as a favourite for years and check it almost daily but never bothered venturing any further... I even missed my own birthday post! Stu

I've just checked and mine doesn't work in Future Pinball either Stu

Perfect Tom that's it working now, thanks The following are also supported by by Daemon Tools: B5T B6T BWT CCD CDI CUE ISO ISZ MDS MDX NRG APE FLAC Though it also supports more as it will happily open a BIN without a CUE and it will mount a MDF without a MDS I would say the main extensions to support would be ISO, CUE, BIN, CDI, MDS, MDF, MDX, NRG Thanks again Stu

That version is the same, it doesn't appear to try to mount As far as I'm aware Virtual Clone drive hasn't ever been installed on this test PC. How can I check? Stu

the log does look any different to me or maybe it's not trying to mount Stu log.txt

I've uninstalled Daemon Tools rebooted and installed it again, this time it created the DT Virtual drive with vendor DTSOFT but still no joy with mounting. I've checked this on both PC's and it doesn't mount on either. I've checked the default installation of Daemon Tools on a third PC and it also has yet anther random name for the vendor. All my systems where previously running Daemon Tools Lite 4.41.3.0173 and I always use the default install settings other than turning off the explorer bar. The older version of Daemon Tools must install differently from the newer versions. Which is likely to cause you issues if you expect the Vendor name to be the same. I've updated the GameEx system and test system to the latest versions but it doesn't help, does GameEx log anything when it tries to mount? Stu

I added a new DT Virtual drive and this one appeared as DTSOFT BDROM When I run SSF.exe [VIRTALDRIVE]:\ GameEx now runs SSF.exe D:\ D is the correct drive letter so it mus now be detecting the drive but its not actually mounting the image Stu
-
Daemon Tools has the option to rename the vendor but it wont accept a full stop so the best I can rename it to is DT Soft Stu
-
This is the vendor name Daemon Tools picked when I created the virtual drive I was under the impression that Daemon Tools picked a random vendor and model number to try and combat some problems with various software not running if it detected a virtual drive? I checked my other PC and the vendor for it is MNMX model EZ0127S5M Stu

Log attached Out of the 2 dives GameEx detects my virtual drive is Drive: 21:JW1URK56:JOVUR Thanks Stu log.txt

I've now tried a fresh install off GameEx on another PC and left ISO Mounting Support turned off and I'm getting the same result "Install ISO Support:\" I've also tried the [-VIRTUALDRIVE-] option which is how the default SSF config is setup but it doesn't do anything, if I watch the virtual drive nothing gets mounted So this is not single system problem... though it could still be an idiot user problem Stu
-
I had tried running it previously without having ISO Mounting Support installed, it didn't work which is what made me think I needed to install it. I don't see any option for uninstalling Virtual Clone Drive, I've tried removing GameEx and installing it again but still the same result "Install ISO Support:\" I have it working perfectly using my own batch files so it's no big deal but it would have been nice to take advantage of this feature to unclutter my run before and after batch files Stu

Ah! that would be because I am using a keyboard hook to grab the key press to pause the emulator and the antivirus thinks it's a key logging application... maybe this is the reason why I never released it Stu

I'm not sure if it's a bug or something I'm doing wrong but GameEx doesn't seem to be finding my Daemon Tools Lite I've installed ISO Mounting Support during the installation I've installed the latest Daemon Tools Lite I've set my command for SFF to: SFF.exe [VIRTUALDRIVE]:\ but when I run a game I get nothing If I check the runitgame.bat it says: SSF.exe Install ISO Support:\ Is there something else I need to do somewhere? Stu

I'm not sure why I never released it at the time but I turned Tempests script into a GameEx plugin about a year ago. Extract the 2 files to your GameEx plugin directory and you can configure which emulators it's activated on and what key to use. Maybe Tempest knows why it was never release, I know he helped me test it at the time so big thanks to him... maybe there is some unresolved issues with it that I can't remember now I've just tested it again with Project 64, ZSNES, SFF, Nestopia and Fusion and it seems to be working fine. Yeah I keep meaning to add spinners but have never gotten around to it. I have back set to Escape and forward as Enter You should really look at the UltraStiks. Ben's UltraStik plugin takes care of the switching for you using the Mame dat files. He automatically loads the 2 way, 4 way, diagonal profiles or whichever is required and when you close GameEx he switches the sticks to the mouse profile to get you around windows The LED's are connected to an LEDWiz and Ben has a 'LCD/LED Plugin' that comes bundled with GameEx which lets you set up the colours for each system or for each game if you want. He uses some of the mame data files to auto set the Mame game lights automatically, so if a game only uses 2 buttons then only those 2 light up. Stu

Here are some pics, I still haven't got around to adding any artwork, it's been on the to do list for a while now I've added a few shots at the end showing the buttons lit up for N64 and for NES showing how they light up differently depending on the game/system. The back and forward buttons are the red and green buttons on the front, in GameEx they select and cancel, in a game the red exits and the green pauses though not all systems support this. It's sounds like you're going down a similar route as me, I started with 2 mag sticks and the ipac then changed to the ultra stiks, the ultra stick supports 8 buttons each and then I use the ipac for the rest f my butons. LEDWiz controls the colours along with Ben's excellent plugin for GameEx. Stu

I would recommend as many buttons as possible. My first control panel had 6 buttons for each player + money in and start buttons but I was constantly wishing I had added extras. I eventually decided to make a new panel, this time using Andy's awesome UltraStiks http://www.ultimarc.com/ultrastik_info.html these are just fantastic when used along with Ben's plugin for GameEx as it switches between 2 way, 4 way and analog depending on the game.Using these sticks also makes N64 gaming on my cab without extra joypads perfect. I find the extra player buttons most useful for other systems like Playstation, Dreamcast, N64 and Saturn. I actually have 9 player buttons on my new panel, 2 rows of 4 and an extra at thumb level. * * * * * * * * * Along with the 9 player buttons for each stick I have 2 flippers 2 for forwards and backwards 2 player start buttons 2 select buttons 2 money in buttons that are connected to a working coin mech 4 buttons on the underside that are hidden, I had these spare so though I would add them in, they have came in handy though 1 is set as money in to override the coin mech I have one set to Alt+F4 and another set to Ctrl+Alt+Delete, neitherare essential but was handy during my many nights testing and setting things up the final starts GameEx So that's 30 in total Does seem like a lot but after regretting not having enough on my first attempt I thought I would make sure and get it right 2nd time Stu

Thanks very much, I'm really surprised, I still view the forums almost daily but I've been more of a lurker lately Stu

Nice one Tom, thanks Stu

They may be based on NoIntro but there are quite a few that are named differently. I'm not sure if you've changed anything with the your search algorithm in the last year or 2 but when I started using GameEx it would end up picking the wrong snap even when more obvious choice was present. I can't remember an example I think I have a post in the forum somewhere about this but it got to the point that I just disabled the try to find best option. It seems to me that although GameEx and EmuMovies seem to be working together they are actually heading in slightly different ways. Another example of this is how the EmuMovies download utility automatically creates a separate folder for stills and videos yet GameEx will only accept 1 path meaning you have to combine the 2 folders manually. What makes this even more surprising is that you (Tom) developed this application yet you've in a way made it slightly less compatible with your own software. Customizing the NoIntro dats sounds like a option, how do I go about doing this? Though that would still mean using that various tools to start renaming the new EmuMovies sets to match the NoIntro names. I'll maybe just make a start modifying the TOSEC section of the databases to include the HyperList names. Stu
-
I'm quite liking the look of Hyperlist rom sets, I'm only really interested in having a nice clean set with only 1 rom for each game. I've taken various attempts at this myself in the past but now after seeing that EmuMovies is creating their new sets on this naming convention I thought I'll make the switch. I like the idea of just being able to run CLRMame to build a Hyperlist rom set and then downloading a video set from EmuMovies knowing that when I go into GameEx I'll have a video for each game without having to rename files. What I'm curious about is, how well will all this fit in with the GameEx game databases that I've grown to love? They only have name columns for GoodName, NoIntro and Tosec. Any chance we could add a new column? I remember when we got Tom to support these 3 naming conventions a few years ago it took a bit of effort. Thanks Stu

XBMC like Skins for Gamex? and some other questions
Stu1983 replied to shateredsoul's topic in General
I started working on a theme that would blend in well with XBMC a while ago but never got around to finishing it. I really should get back to it some evening. Mine was going to be based on the Confluence theme though. Stu
