  1. Didn't bother with Scanner. Other plugins: Home Server SMART 2013 - monitors disk health info - alerts if any errors/failures (essential after some bad experiences on V1) Light-out Advanced Admin Console - can access lots of useful stuff from Dashboard Remote Launcher - Can launch apps etc straight from dashboard Apps installed on server: HWMonitor - monitors all core temperatures etc Yeah - launchpad is a waste of time. Lastly, I DID choose to have a virus scanner on my WHS. I don't have a specific one on all my client machines - just windows etc. I really did feel that if I want a scanner anywhere it's gonna be on my server as this feels the most important thing to keep spic and span. I use Eset - they have a specific AV for WHS2011. Sounds like you're getting there, Hans. Once you get that CPU plugged in, you'll be gald of all the work - loved WHS2011 + been problem free for a long time now (as opposed to my V1 days!)
  2. Id go with the most recent. As you say, as a trial you can always choose differently. In short, cant remember!
  3. Don't hide yer light under a bushel, chap....
  4. Think it took me a weekend about a year ago, but once you get it set up, it's all plain sailing. Haven't had any issues with it since..keep the faith
  5. Hang on... Dazzles in there? Hmmm... is he waiting to pull out a phenomenal bullet-storm schmup score?
  6. Hmmm... GimmeClassics is gonna be applying for a transfer next season at this rate! Great scores, dude! Doing TGE proud.
  7. Especially as the actual install is about 35G (see pic above). Keep on trucking Hans - you'll get it. I might have had a few tries, but ultimately it did turn out to be less hassle than V1 (probably because I bought a monitor breakout board to stop trying to instal windows headless!)
  8. Code Grind...:( borin'.....

But you need to grind to level up - so by necessity you must grind =P Needs must hehe

  9. To be honest, Hans, I can't remember. Think 2011 works differently to V1 in terms of how it manages files - plenty of documentation around. You're right - just do it - I don't remember the process being too arduous or difficult. Hardest bit was sourcing a copy of WHS2011 itself! How you getting on with that?
  10. Ah yeah - OK. On my system drive, there is also a second partition. But my setup uses StableBit drivepool - basically, I use the partition as a 'quarentined' zone from my drive pool. The pool sits on the three other drives. Errr... so - you could just leave the partition on your system disk blank, or use it for things like server software downloads etc. Basically nothing that has regular read/write. Then StableBit will pool your other drives. In short - don't sweat it an dive in. So, looks like: C: and D: being on the same physical drive, and E, G and I being the pool drives.
  11. CUMMON THE ORANGE AND BLUES!!!! Under 600 points in it for the team standings.... And only 11 points in it for first place for ExedExes!!! Cummon fellas - do yourselves proud.

  13. In the [bastardised] words of Hannibal - "I love it when a plan [starts] com[ing] together" Great work..
  14. Dammit - thats a nice price. Still too tall for a proper dynamic arcade marquee though
  15. Just think about when it's all up and running! btw - what's a "seedbox"? (in short, layman's language)
  16. I'm actually loving this twitch thing! CPWizBiz is sooooo getting a show-twitch-stream function so ya can see others playing the games you are on your second display. Dammit - this is never going to finish. I should really pootle out and find a wife or summat.
  17. Put them in as links (twitch/website/youtube) - you might get more clicks then...
  18. Geroge. When I rarely take a moment to try and play arcade games rather than build their containers - I SUCK REAL BAD!!! Like can't get past 1st level of 1942 without loosing all three lives bad. Mind you, I was always last to get picked at football too - so - yaknow - meh. Dig in man - have a blast and surely the challenge is of yourself - betcha cant do the first level of 1942 without loosing all 3(2?) lives...
  19. Sorry Hans... Was messin given the phenomenally detailed post. Have read it now, though. I upgraded my ex495 to a duo core and this has proved more than sufficient for hd streaming and mtorrent activities. Also runs real cool. 4 gb ram also more than sufficient but 8 should fitureproof it nicely Good Luck transferring all that data. Quite a task. What you gonna do with your old drives?
  20. Long live winkawaks and all that sail her. She's next on my emu list, just so I can say that I'm a real winkawakka.
  21. Im not sure about the middle bit...
  22. Nice find.
  23. Just spent a day on my server, Hans and would second your intentions. I do love OpenSource, but sometimes there's just too much to do and not enough hours in the day...
