Sounds like a great idea (for retro gaming enthusiasts like us). I got one of these a while back and use it for pc use through a GC adapter. Works great but I can't find them anymore, and it has drawbacks. I've seen some newer products, but most only support a couple of systems. I really like the idea of 1 box, 4 players, every system, just buy the adapters you need. I didn't see anything about a Bluetooth adapter. So I guess no PS3 controllers, wii and etc. Otherwise, a neat project. The following are my concerns for a startup like this: It's highly opinionated, so keep that in mind!

I like this. It lets you pair 4 PS3 controllers with the single adapter. For N64 I use this. The drivers are plug and play, no compatability issues (windows anyway). For length, i spliced a dead N64 controller's cord to another, doubling its length. That works for me.

my atari 2600 emulator preview window, the one before you enter the emulator field to then view the games within, cycles through random preview titles. I want to change the list of titles it cycles through to match the list of games I have within. The way it is now, it looks to cycle through all the roms from a complete set!

I just went strait and picked up a copy of Medievil. I missed this one as a kid and discovered it later as an adult, via emulation. See, if it wasn't for emulation I wouldn't have bought it! Kick @$$ gothic horror adventure. Immediately vaulted to my list of nostalgic games, which is very unusual for games I discover later in life. This class of games is usually reserved for my childhood first in its genre, RPG=Final Fantasy series, Horror = Resident Evil, Adventure = Zelda, Platform = Mario, etc.

I just rename mine according to the No Intro standard, or basically to match emumovies. But I can see how that may not be feasible for you.

interestingly, given the importance of this subject, I don't mind it getting bumped. That way it stays where people can see it. However isn't that the purpose of pinned threads? Admins might conside pinning this one as respect is the cornerstone of this forum.

Update: The seller responded to my e-mail that night and issued a full refund + the shipping cost to get it to me. They don't want the item back either. So I guess I have some extra copies of FFIX, the first half anyway, taking up space. I went ahead and ordered another copy of the game, lets hope it goes better. I usually stick to amazon as they have always refunded my order when something was damaged, defective, or not as described. I never give negative feedback until I give the seller a chance to rectify the situation, it's just unfair otherwise. Honest mistakes happen, it's what they do once finding out that matters. I think I've only had to have amazon arbitrate once as the seller did not respond. I will give this seller positive feedback as they quickly and fully resolved the issue, well It would have been nice to have recieved a replacment, but in this case that's not really possable.

Yup, I'm in the e-mail process and my correspondance was respectfull. I just explained the contents of the package wern't complete or as described and asked for a refund. I've had this happen before and amazon has refunded me immediatly if the seller didn't. They took care of it after that. I've had good luck mostly, but every now and then the above annoyance happens. Luckily I've not been stiffed by both the seller and amazon, so let's hope that trend sticks. Also, I have a more strongly worded version in case they give me lip. But the first e-mail is written frim a moms ignorant perspective. It's harder to husstle a mom buying a gift for little jimmy. I don't lie, just come off nieve: "Um, on the back it says there are supposed to be 4 disks and only three were sent. Also there are 2 copies of disc 2, that can't be right can it? In any case disc 3 and 4 are missing. The product was described as used very good, this must be a mistake, so I would like a refund."

I ordered Final Fantasy IX online. The Game was described as “Used – Very Good”. To me that means the complete game (all 4 discs) with little to no scratches, all artwork and manual included in the original case, unless otherwise notified, which was not the case. However, upon arrival the case was 2 after market 2CD jewel Cases taped together, not the original. There was no instruction booklet. The front and back artwork was obviously folded to fit the after market cases and obscure the contents, which were the most troubling part of this order. I received 1 copy of Disc 1, 2 copies of disc 2, and both disc 3 and 4 were missing. Needless to say the game can't be completed with only half of it! And what Am I supposed to do with a redundant copy of disk 2? I don't see why anyone would want half of one game and part of another; And it appears by the way the artwork was blocking view of the games inside, neither did the person who put it together..."unless [i assume he reasoned] they were hidden from view and misrepresented...Hmmm!" This kind of thinking makes me sick. I got ripped off! Well, I don't know, the seller had a good rating, so maybe they got ripped off before me and didn't know it before selling it online to me. Still they should have inspected the contents and verified they were selling what they described online. Not to do so would be negligent, so there is no excuse. I can understand an honest mistake and not hold it against them though. I am amenable, if they make it right. So I requested a refund. I should not have to pay for shipping either if there is a return required as I have already paid shipping to get this "hunk of dishonesty" here, and had a negative experience. We'll see... Anyone had any of your own? I'm sure there are some good bad sotries out there.

BTW: If anyone is interested in using a PS3 controller on their PC, but don't want to hassle with MotioninJoy drivers there is this. I just picked one up for my arcade cab, as I'm tired of the wired dualshock I have. It didn't support rumble and this does. Plus it can be switched from D-input to X-input as needed by your emulators. ***EDIT*** The D-input mode supports up to 4 PS3 controllers simultaneously connected VIA one adapter. X-input mode emulates a 360 controller and only supports one controller at a time. Both have rumble function. Also, the pairing process is easy, just plug it in to the adapter's USB via the mini USB cord, then you hold the PS button for 10 seconds. Unplug and start playing. This makes it much easier to use 1 PS3 controller between your computer and PS3! Motioninjoy was so annoying I bought a second controller to dedicate to the computer. But this has no need for extra software to arbiturate the process, unless you want to calibrate the controllers initially of course, otherwise just plug in pair and play. Also, if your interested Mayflash makes a Wii U pro controller adapter like this too. That's a pretty sweet controller, but as others have pointed out it's a 360 clone and the 360 already connects to the PC.

Just bought a dolphinbar because of this thread, I didn't know it existed! Last I heard of wiimotes on PC was with Glovepie, and I didn't want to track that rabbit down the hole. Thanks for peaking my intrest.

Wind Waker was a unique LOZ with the cell shading. I must have played it through 3-4 times getting eveything. I still remember going deeper down underground in the 100 Holes gauntlet (or what ever it was). That one holds a special place in my heart, a definate nominee for artistic masterpieces. The GC really had some great titles. The only games I ever got for the X-box were Halo and Halo 2. No wonder no one has a X-box emulator that works well. There is just not that much interest! But thoes titles would be worth it. I love the Halo universe. The live action tv series has me so geeked. I don't think I'll drop a live subscription for it though.

I definatly don't recomend the knock off pc port controllers. Get adapters and use the original for sure. The 4-in-1 I linked earlier is no longer available and I can't find it any more. Too bad! that was the best solution I've ever found. But you get the Idea. I reccomend the GC adapter though, as it supports the wavebird (the holy controller). That is my favorite wirless controller, if only it had rumble, it would be perfect. I loved the GC though, so I'm biased. My friends gave me crap for buying a GC instead of Halo and an X-Box. While they enjoyed the best scifi FPS ever, I was basking in Metroid prime bliss exploring the best adventure FPS ever. I defend my decision.

+1, it's so frustrating when your on a hard to find hunt for info, find a forum post with the same problem, your like yes, yes...WHAT! THAT'S IT!!! NO RESOLUTION. No further posts for like a year, and nobody cares about it anymore. Seriously if you figure it out please share the resolution with us. You started the topic, you can resolve it too. Or at least tell us you were not able to. I can tell you this is the only forum I've been a part of for longer than a month or two. This is due in no small part by the respect and decorum of the menbers. I consider many of you friends and nothing sours the milk like disparaging and bitter rants that call out other members. I'm not naming names, but I'm glad that the moderators are proactive on resolving these disputes before they distroy the respectful and safe environment. I'm glad that I can ask a stupid question and no one makes me feel stupid with disrespect and profanity. This is why I feel the community is so helpful. People feel comfortable asking here, and rightly so. I don't know how many times I've asked questions that have already been asked before and every time I get a link to the other thread without the "try searching first next time" remark that plagues other forums. Keep it up guys, and thank you for putting up with me!

Have you considered staining it? That gives it furniture-like class and helps to break up the frat-boy man-cave feel. It went a long way in convincing my household. I'd go with cherry (doesn't feel like it belongs in a bar), but that is up to you. See below

If your interested in using the original system controllers (or any knock offs) you must check out this before you waste your money on a bunch of adapters!.

Having a lot of fun emulating my systems with their original controllers (More on that here), especially with the wavebird on Metroid Prime, now that it plays. Yeah, too bad PCSX2 is not quickly moving like Dolphin. I really want to play Ratchet & Clank with DX Hardware, if they can ever work out that texture bug, software is just too slow. I'd be geeked.

Features Request: Would it be possible to add the controller's unique identifier to the "joystick input" section of the "Input settings" page in the wizard, such that GE can detect which controller's [button 1] was pressed and use it when mapping UI functions? I would also like to be able to add multiple Global Exits here as well, to set separate global exits for each controller. I would like to be able to set a delay time that you must hold the combo before exiting too. Basically I want to be able to set the controls for the GameEX interface using multiple controllers. Since GE doesn’t currently see their unique identifier it doesn’t know which controller pressed button 1. For example. I set up my mappings in GE to be able to navigate with a Dualshock controller pluged in via usb. Select = X [joy Button 1] and Back = O [joy button 2]. But when I went to map a N64 controller A [joy button 2] is already set in GE as Back (when I want it to be Select). Unless I can Manually reassign button mappings for input devices in windows, these controllers need to be identified when mapping to GE fucntions. I know that you can map controls to keyboard functions and then set the combo wanted for each emulator using the “GameEX Advanced Config Editor”. However it is a keyboard mapping tool to map joystick functions to keyboard functions, like x-padder does, after an emulator starts. This would work for unique exit combos, but not for navigating within GameEX itself. Plus it is not as intuitive as would be the options in the Input settings page of the wizard.

I thought I would relate an experiance I had with a few new adapters I got. GC Controller Adapter for PC and Nintendo Wii 4-in-1 Virtua Retro Adapter . The first allows you to plug in the second. It looks like amazon isn't carrying the 4 in 1 anymore but you can probably find one, or 2 , on ebay. EDIT: I actually can't find this item any more. Too bad as it is the only one that I can find that combines these systems. If you can find any, I suggest you cop that. I can confirm that the GC adapter is recognized and installed automatically, even though it comes with drivers. The 4 in 1 adapter plugs into one of the 2 GC ports and allows you to plug in 1 SNES, NES, Genesis, or N64 controller per adapter. It is meant to work with the Wii, it doesn't work right for n64 games through the Virtual console (The rest are fine), but it does work great for PC! Just get 1 GC adapter and 2 4-in-1 adapters and you get 2 NES, 2 SNES, 2 Genesis, and 2 N64 controller ports from 1 USB slot! Possably the most usefull combination of adapters that I've seen available. This is a great and cheap way of freeing usb slots on your PC and emulating these systems with their original controller! Way cheaper than buying all the adapters separatly. Notes: The GC wavebird wireless controller does work with the GC adapter. No special installation instructions, except calibration of the axis in windows. I noticed this is important because the 2.4GHz wireless picks up a little interferance and jumps aroung slightly. A quick calibration and that is taken care of. The genesis port only recognizes original Genesis controllers (d-pad, start, and 3 buttons), not the six button kind. I thought the 6 button would be great with mame, but It doesn't recognize the top three, dang it!
