  1. you might also consider the netflicks plugin for windows media center, If HTPC is what your after. Though I don't like it much for series, as it doesn't make getting to the next episode easy like on the wii or ps3 interfaces.
  2. 2 hours? That is good news! As for Xon, looks good. I saw it but I didn't look hard. I'm a little put off by the episode business, seems like a rotten business model to sling out customers like a dope dealer. I prefer games to be all in one package. I'll probably check it out though.
  3. Anyone know of a way to play Myst/Riven on android? Seems like these games would be resurrected by a touchscreen. The room looks intriguing, i'd rater try it first, before buying (15 mins might not be enough). $1 not much to loose though, and puzzles are my favorites for android games, besides Pitch, of course, but then I have a soft spot in my heart for card games. Cribbage any one? Anyone? Crickets..chirp...chirp...No one seems to know how anymore. I have taken it on as my mission to teach the younger ADD stricken generation the merits of card games (other than poker).
  4. Hey, now that you mention it mine has stoped tracking L/R also . I thought it may have been drivers or the usb port. I just haven't gotten around to taking a closer look yet. I just gave X-Gaming an e-Mail to see If I can leverage that Lifetime Warranty. It says "If your X-Arcade is ever found to be defective or stops working, XGaming will send replacement parts to your location..." It does say that if you're outside the USA then you will be charged for shipping. That's not an issue for me, but you'll might like to know. I'll report back on their service here. This sick warranty was one of the reasons I bought the Tankstick, so I hope they put their money where their mouth is, I sure did ($159,99). EDIT 9/23/14: Looks like they are going to send me a replacment "L/R board". I assume it is a PCB internal to the trackball unit. I'll figure it out when it comes... EDIT 10/4/14: The "L/R board" is a small PCB internal to the Trackball assembly that has a few jumpers hooked to it.Basicly there are three steel bars that the trackball rests on, replacable ball bearings for smooth rotation, and two of the bars have a wheel attached with spaced holes that line up with photogates on these PCB's to gauge the speed of the trackball without ever making physical contact with the elictronic component. A photogate shines a constant beam of light from an emittor to a reciever. The wheel sits in between the reciever and emmitor. When it spins the holes let light through and block it as it spins. The photo gate reads the frequency to gauge the speed of the wheel. Pretty solid analog design, easy to clean and repair. This did indeed fix the issue. XGaming confrimed my order number and adress, then promptly sent the replacment part no questions asked (beyond tracking down the issue). I am very satisfied with their service and the way they honered my warranty. I highly reccomend the X-Arcade Tanksticks. They're a solid choice, literally!
  5. Apple's too expensive and linux is too...well, linux. I hate and begrudgingly have to use 8.1 for a tablet essential for school. 7 is very nice, I like it a lot, but XP is where my heart was...before microsoft took it off life support (That one's gonna take time to heal). Meanwhile 8 is spitting on the memory. Android's not bad.
  6. Frankly I don't know why Ethernet isn't standard in residential electrical by now. Each room of my house should have an Ethernet port right next to the phone jack or cable line. It's so annoying having decreased video quality or buffering in netflicks because of all the 2.4GHz interference from cordless phones, other routers, and distance/angle from the router. Sometimes I wish I was hard jacked in, Then at least I'd know I'm getting the speeds I'm paying for.
  7. I wonder how long it would take to make a port for pinballX? Don't know much about pinball emus, It just started catching my interest. Horible tabe! In a good bad kind of way
  8. I'd like to get a full analog joystick (I like the oval top...whatever) so I can play games like NFL blitz with more realism. But I'd like to have the 4-way/8-way adjustability by pulling up and twisting as well. I also like the magnetic centering sticks, springs loosen over time. I'm just not willing to replace them until I find a stick worth the trouble. I don't know of any that do all this.
  9. I opted for the X-arcade Tanksticks during one of their holiday sales (something like $40 US off). Love that thing! They give it lifetime replacement guarantee. If anything breaks (which isn't likely, it's built like...well, a tank) they will send you the part . You do the repair. I asked one of the reps if opening it voids the warranty and he said they're designed to be repaired in home, feel free to open it, it doesn't void the warranty. Something to consider. I like the trackball for mouse functions, so the tankstics were a no brainer! Perfect size for my cab, Plug'n play, no drivers. Simple. Also there is a little switch on the back with 4 positions for custom profiles! The first is default (which I use). But the other 3 are open for you to remap to whatever you need. You just slide the switch and press 1 button to load it into mem. I found this was unnecessary for me, but some emus use certain default key mappings for system functions (ZSNES for example). So, this little extra can give the tankstick flexibility.
  10. +1 So does that mean this topic is Resolved? If so please place "[RESOLVED]" in front of the topic title by editing your first post in the full editor. This will help keep things clean and neat
  11. But not privacy. Newer OS's have adopted more data collection and tracking technologies. Although they'er for support and development, they are by no means more private. Modern OS have been optimized for the internet sharing age, not the privacy age. But that's the price of convenience.

    PCSX2 Peeps

That's probably it. They don't say it does this and I didn't even know PCSX2 stored mem cards and etc elsewhere. Kind of annoying actually. At least now I know where to look for them when I go to copy the saves to another rig. I don't have any problem with launch, so I'll just stick with that. Stigz's tutorial made it easy.
  13. Have you considered using MESS? I use it for NES, SNES, and atari. Best thing is it's basicly the same as MAME in terms of config. So if you know how that works, then you already know MESS.
  14. Is there a reason you must upgrade? 7 is basically just another windows environment with enhanced capabilities and support. Frankly, if you have a good thing going with XP and you haven't run into an absolute need for a newer OS, why spend the doh?
  15. In case you don't know or anyone reading was wondering Tempest released a program called "Marquee Magician" to do this here. As for the monitor. Well, the ultra wide's are somewhat expensive and finding the right size might be tricky. They're 21:9, so you would need to find a 17 inch (diagonal, 16x7) or less monitor to fit. From my searches I couldn't find any that small. A 25" is 11 inches tall. If you modify the cabinet to accommodate it that might work for you. From the pic it looks like you would have to cut the top back to allow it to fit.
  16. Thanks guys. I just thought of another great use for this type of setup, one word...Hyperpin! Or the other way around, now pinball cabs could run GE (beautifully) and hyperpin, If you come up with a creative solution for where to put the arcade controls. I just had my attention grabbed by the pinball cabs, and man is my creative mind racing. Too bad I don't have more time, money, space, and all that. But that's the same old, same old, repetitive argument people always make. If I want it bad enough, they wont be able to hold me back, or you for that matter . Keep Gaming.
  17. My sister is paranoid about her laptop and has never turned the WIFI on. It is a stock windows vista that has never updated from the internet, so I'm sure the .net is out of date big time. She wants to import some videos to Win movie maker but it won't recognize them until she converts them to WMV. Anyway, this tool would be nice, but it probably requires the latest .net already installed from windows update huh?
  18. Hmm... now that does sound intriguing . I'll be eagerly awaiting your results. At least you won't be out much if it doesn't work. A PS1 to PC adapter is cheap and always nice to have around somewhere. I wonder if the 2 port adapter (the triangular clear blue one) will work with 2 PS1 lightguns? I'm thinking Area 51/maximum force baby!
  19. Interesting, i'll check it out. Yeah, crash bandicoot: the wrath of cortex plays on 3 (20 fps) but not 4 (It freezes during the intro). It wont let me use "synchronize gpu thread" which may clear this up if caused by the dual core enhancement. I'll try the latest revision to see if that clears it up. BTW: I get much higher FPS in games when I disable lighting, fog, etc. Looks bad, but plays better. EDIT: Wow, this new version seems to have fixed metroid prime! I'm getting 40-60 FPS now pretty much all the time, rarely getting into the 30s. There is still a freeze/shutter every once and awhile, but the sound is perfect and the video is good. Its actually playable and enjoyable. By far my favorite GC title, this has absolutely changed my opinion of dolphin for the better. It also fixed the crash bandicoot break in the previous version you uploaded, although it's still way too slow to play; it doesn't play well on PCSX2 either, better, but still slow/buggy. So, I can't say i'm surprised.
  20. Great to hear! Hope the saturn config goes well too. Let us know here if it does.
  21. Ok boys and girls, GameRoomEX v2.0 (Vertscreen) has gone live! Whew. The thread is here. Thank you krak for all your help and continued diligence to your fine theme. Without it I would not have gotten this far.
  22. Unfortunately, given the time constraints I'm under, I will not be able to continue making system specific themes for all the emulators out there. However, here is my template for you to make your own! I ask that you please use this template for your own use or to post new systems for this theme in this thread. Please do not use any of it's content for another theme, or for any financial gain. What you'll need: Paint.net, search the internet. It is a freeware photoshop-like image editing software that is quite powerful. DON'T PAY FOR IT. It is absolutly free. GameRoomEXv2 (1080x1920, vertscreen) Theme Layout.zip
  23. *** Before I continue I must Acknowledge Krakerman's incredible GameRoomEX v2 as the inspiration and source for this theme. This theme is simply a port with my own artistic interpretation added. I take no credit for the original design and encourage you to check out his amazing work here. Please do not enter this theme into any competition, as it uses ideas, templates, and artwork from Krakerman's GameroomEX v2. *** Introduction: A few years back I decided to incorporate a vertical/portrait mounted monitor in an arcade cabinet build. This is a great way to view vertically scrolling shooters like 1941, while maintaining the real estate for 4:3 aspect games. It also works well as a pinballX/hyperpin setup. Unfortunately that left me with few options as far as themes were concerned. No longer!!! If you are interested in making a vertical setup there are a few things to consider first. I have included the following links to topics/problems I have run into. I present to you GameRoomEX v2 (Vertscreen): This theme features System specific themes for the following systems (see attached thumbnails for a sample). Installation Instructions: Download the theme here [1080x1920 or 768x1366] and extract it. Place the folder named "GameroomEX 2.0 ([version], Vertscreen)" into the "THEMES" folder within the GameEX folder. So you should have something like this: "C:\GameEx\THEMES\GameroomEX 2.0 (1080x1920, Vertscreen)". In the GameEX Setup Wizard, select the theme. Still in the GameEX setup wizard navigate to the "Emulator Setup" page and change the "Title Snap Path" to point at your emumovies Boxart folder (not 3d boxart) for the following systems: Still in the GameEX setup wizard navigate to the "MAME Settings" page and change the "Marquee Path" to point at your Flyers Folder. Set your OS to rotate your screen appropriately and display at the same resolution as the theme you downloaded. That's it, your ready to start GameEX and enjoy! Please Note: To get the best experience out of this theme you will want emumovies boxart, titles, and video previews for your games. The layout of this theme is specificly designed to fit their artwork's aspect ratio. Other artwork sources will work, but may not fit exactly as intended. You don't need a membership to download these, however the membership makes it MUCH EASIER AND FASTER. You may need to rename your emulator's "start page name" to match the config in the theme's main folder. Otherwise, the theme will display the default background. This theme is available in two sizes, 1080x1920 and 768x1366. Please use the one that matches your screen resolution as closely as possable. If you can, It would be best to match your Operating System's Resolution to the theme's resolution. This will prevent crashes due to GameEX re-sizing images as you navigate the menus.
  24. The prime series all do the shuttering video/audio no matter the hardware (acording to the wiki). Trilogy on wii is slightly better but still the FPS are 30-40 with an i7 and very good GPU. I Downloaded your build and it's much better than my previous version (3 I think). Sunshine runs well, prime is still bugged out. ***EDIT: I have gotten it to 27-60 FPS depending on action, actually it's playable, if not noticeably jerky/slow very often. Honestly that's not how I want to play it, but it's much better than before..*** Is it just me or does dolphin load game settings automatically? Are those the best general settings (as of release) or do you have to tweak? The little Playing I did led me to think the game specific properties were limited, do I need a progrem like PCSX2Launch/bonus to tease the best performance out of dolphin? Or is there a best config that applies across the board?
