I ran into an issue of it not loading on my Vertscreen cabinet. I think I read somewhere this has happened before, but I shelved it while I rush to release the GameRoomEX v2 (vertscreen) theme I'm working on. Might be a good time to revisit it, as i'm getting close to release. It just goes black when GameEX tries to view my panel in cpwiz, I have to end task as escape does nothing. I'll update with more info when I have more time, unless someone can point me to a thread where this has already been resolved.
-
Could you point me to a tutorial? I'd like to give this a try (project M with SSBB on dolphin). The project M site has a few different downloads and no tut for dolphin integration.

I can change the png so that the control panel looks good 9:16. But what your saying is there is no access to the layout defining where the text displays onscreen? So this is a feature worthy of request, is it not? It seems like this wouldn't be too dificult to implement, depending on how burred the layout info is in gameex source, it shouldn't take too long.
-
Is that what he has pictured? In the CP wiz folder there is an Xarcade.xml file that contains layout info. Is there a way I can convert this to mamewah layout so that I can import it into the editor?

I need to edit the default controls layout in the editor for a vertical theme I'm making. On Headkaze's website there is a picture of this http://headsoft.com.au/images/gxthemeeditor11.png I don't have a control panel layout in my template window. Is there supposed to be a controls config in the theme folder structure somewhere? Could I gleen one from another theme? How do I utilize this functionality? I read a post made by headkaze where he said it can't be done, and that CP wizard has to be utilized for this, but I got excited when I saw the picture on his site shows him editing the layout of the control panel, which is exactly what I'm looking for.

Note the extra " in the start of your unmount command! I checked the config you uploaded and it's there too. So that wasn't just a typo in the post. Samuri that Ninja Gremlin ! If that doesn't work, try [start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTLite.exe" -unmount dt, 0] without the bracket. This topic seems relevent too: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/14910-what-is-the-proper-command-line-to-boot-ssf-sega-saturn-in-gameex/page-3

I didn't see anybody say this has been tried already. And it sounds like that's what's happening here. This describes exactly the behavior GameEX displays when It thinks the process has closed after you press escape, but it hasn't. In my experience this has been due to it not watching the correct process. Each Time I'v had this happen is when I've used an intermediate in the launching process, like ePSXecutor, PCSX2Launch, Batch files, and shortcut links. This is because your telling GameEX that it's launching a program other than the one that is actually running the game. So when you go to exit, GameEX looks for the process it ran (like the batch file) and doesn't find it. It doesn't task kill it since it's not running and returns thinking it's done a good job. Meanwhile your emulator is still running in the background, preventing you from playing another game without exiting to close it first. Sound familiar? Try adding the name of the emulator's executable (without the extension ".exe") to the "watched process" line in an advanced emulator config like "[Mapping Off] Exit (Process Close)" and save as [Rename and needed].ini. These are located by default in GameEX\Config\Emulators. This will "Make Escape key close emulator process" when you add it to the "watched process" list. Then GameEX will task kill it and wait for it to close before regaining focus. Hopfully . If not then my avatar say it all.
-
Also, try adding the exe name (without the ".exe") to "watched process" in the "advanced emulator config". (Open with notepad and save as .ini) .That will make GameEx stall untill the application is closed before regaining focus.

If you haven't already, try updating your .Net to 4.5, C++ redistributable, and Direct x drivers to the latest release (from Nvidia/AMD as necessary). At least it will eliminate these from the possibilities. If I remember correctly VS installs the C++ it needs to run. It may not be the most complete set, or maybe it is IDK, but if you install direct from Microsoft, then you'll know for sure. I've found these to be essential for everything to work, especially emulators and related wrappers/drivers. Many of these apps require .net, C++, latest DX drivers, etc. At least you'll know your up to date with them. Who knows, it may clear up your issue, if indeed it is related. Anyway that's my 2 cents. Good luck

GameRoomEXv2 (Vertscreen) UPDATE: Game Boy & Game Boy Color!!! I have 2 more to complete before releasing! So we're getting close. -
I have to use a VGA or the screen won't automatically sleep/wake when the computer is turned on/off. This being an Arcade cabinet, that's essential functionality. If I use the HDMI input it will display higher resolutions, but won't automatically turn on like it will with the VGA port, which is used mainly for PC's anyway and probably why VIZIO made it wake/sleep on VGA. HDMI doesn't work the same and I scoured the settings to find a way, but no luck. So, like I said I'm stuck with 768x1366 unless I get a better Card (which would be good for PCSX2). This of course is assuming VGA can output higher resolutions.

Oh, I thought I'd mention that with the PS3 controller using the Motioninjoy + Better DS3 driver configuration tool you can get force feedback/rumble to work in PCSX2. I thought I'd mention this in case anyone was wondering, or likes a PS3 controller better (like me). This thread talks about PS3 controller options too: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/13402-using-a-ps3-controller-trouble/ Related links: http://betterds3.ciebiera.net/ http://motioninjoy.en.uptodown.com/

For some reason that doesn't work for me. I did the same as you above, but it just throw the "could not find required folder" error. Whatever, I broke up with bonus anyway. I ran back to Launch and all is good with Stigz's fine tutorial. Except that I had to add "pcsx2-r5875" to the watch process line in the advanced emulator config so it would close after I press escape. That way I could load another game without exiting gameex to close the open console/emu. Stigz, you might want to add a line in the Tutorial about that. Thanks guys.

I mean when you first start the installer. It asks for a data folder, and wines when one isn't found. It won't complete setup without it and doesn't explain WTF it is! She's really getting on my nerves. I'm using PCSX2 1.2.1 (r5875). I tried both version of PCSX2Bonus, neither will let me finish setup because it can't find the Data Directory [There is no data directory, that's why you can't find it...stupid!] and will not continue without it. I tried every subfolder, my other PCSX2 version 1.0, and the iso folder. She may have been attractive but she's as stupid as boarding an airplane back to front. I'm at my wits end. Please, if you can save our relationship, help.
-
Ok, thanks stigz! I think I'll try bonus though, as it would be easier to just point GameEx at working exes rather than the Batch/ renaming ISO's business. Great ingenuity in the workaround though! It reminds me of all the crap I had to do with ePSXecutor, ePSXe, and switchdisk. Although the results are fantastic, I don't think I would like to go through that again. No offense. I guess some things from the XP era are dying, huh? I will morn her loss while I court the younger sister. Here I come bonus Wow, hit a rough patch in our relationship already! The first thing it asks you to do is setup directories. There is no Data folder in PCSX2. I tried pointing it at my iso folder, nope. I tried creating a data folder, nope. What does it want? There is supprisingly little information (in english) on this program.

Well, I'm seriously color blind. So bright yellow and white blend together (I hate Highlighter yellow, it confuses my brain). I'm sure it's fine for the 95% of the population who arn't color blind, So I can put up with the hassle of selecting outline fonts in the editor. I thought I'd mention that the issue I was having before is resolved (See post #762). It has to do with re-sizing the images and theme to non-native resolutions. It's something to keep in mind that can happen. The solution is to edit the theme to your resolution, including all the images in it. Lot's of work but it does fix the issue. EDIT: I just noticed this was my 300th post. Yikes, have I been that vocal around here. Must be passion . -
My HTPC is on a 40 inch plasma.: While I was creating the 768x1366 version of my theme and testing on the HTPC, I encountered the same errors in GameEX I was having on my cabinet. My cabinet is a 1080p 32" LCD: My card can't display that high though. In fact the only resolution within reason it does support is 768x1366. It took me the last few hours, but I did manage to port it to a 768x1366 version, there're lots of systems to re-config. I also went ahead and re-sized all the images as well, so nothing should need re-sizing. I am pleased to report that did indeed fix the problem. There is no shudder when transitioning between screens like before (I assume because there is no re-sizing to do). Honestly, I'm not surprised. There are a lot of very detailed PNGs and each system has a foreground overlay. All that processing, is bound to cause problems. The cabinet has no issue with the 768x1366 version. If I swap the 2 versions, I encounter the error. So that lends some evidence to the re-sizing Hypothesis In light of this I will be releasing both versions of my vertscreen theme, between the 2 there should be compatability. I'll just have to instruct people to use the one closest to their resolution setting or try the other one if they experience problems. Thanks for the help guys!
-
Thanks guys. I'll give re-sizing the theme in the editor a try. Question, all the pngs are saved to 1080x1920. Do I need to to re-size each of them as well? I know it will just stretch them, but would it be better to make them smaller? Just to be clear, I create the theme on my HTPC set to rotate 90 deg in gameex (for testing purposes only), works fine even though the computer is set to a different resolution; It has better specs. The issue is on my arcade cabinet, lesser specs, which is set to portrait in windows. No need for settings in gameex to rotate. The cabinet won't display at 1080x1920 otherwise I would do that. So i'm stuck with 768x1366 unless I get a better card. The only reason I mention the HTPC is because it's newer and doesn't have this issue, even though both are running windows resolutions different than the theme's native. I understand the confusion though.

I like it! Just one thing, the contrast with the text on the yellow in the bottom left make the text hard to read. Love the gradient though! Very slick. -
Good to know it's not just me. In any case it did force me to familiarize myself with the settings and check out PS2 launch. BTW: when I create an exe from my launch profiles it doesn't do anything. I double click on it and nothing, but the profile launches fine in app. Ever have that happen?

I've attached screenshots of the best I've been able to come up with so far for Ratchet and clank. Would you mind doing the same for yours (Assuming you have that game)? It might be easier than writing out all the settings. In any case this does look good, but the speed is like slow motion and only goes to about full speed when you're facing a wall. If it has to render more of the world, then it slows. Is this the best I can hope for? EDIT: Answered my own question. I found this http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Ratchet-Clank-SCUS-97199-U The verdict is that ratchet and clank needs more power than I have currently...yikes!
-
Yeah, sometimes I can't trust my memory. Actually I was referring to my cabinet which has lesser specs. I'll try to get at least radeon hd 7000 series or better, but should familiarize myself with the tricks to tease performance out of the games. Thanks. As for the theme. I'm trying to complete it before summer's end. I have a few more system themes to complete before release, but I'm getting close. Kind of a special case, but those for us with vertscreens, it would be good to have a nice theme to choose from.
-
@uberpubert69, What are your system specs (Maybe you posted previouslyl, but I'm lazy)? It loos like I'm in the market for another video card for my cabinet and I want to get one that will laugh at pcsx2. I mean throttle ratchet and clank like a supercar, for the price of a honda (if you know what I mean). I just finished my PS2 system theme for my GameRoomEX v2 (Vertscreen) port; props to Krackerman for inspiring me. I'd like it to be more than just a pretty theme for a glitchy/laggy emu. You mention using a custom resolution that is 1:1 is a good way to speed things up? Speed hacks around 2? Any other general tips?
-
it is a discrete card, but the motherboard does have on-board graphics. Hmm, it's possible that the on-board re-enabled itself (It was terrible to begin with and I disabled it in favor of the card). I do have a card in the HTPC I could theoretically try, but I will avoid doing so because it's very tight (Mini ITX) and it's been running well; I don't want to jynx it. I'll have a look at the bios and make sure the PCI-e card is selected as the primary graphics option and not the on-board crap... EDIT: Ok, the PCI-e device is selected and working. It's a Saphire Radeon HD 3800 series. Still no change. I could try overclocking it...Ok, I overclocked it as much as AMD overdrive (built in functionality) would let me and it seemed to make it a little quicker (maybe psychosomatic) but it still crashes with same error.

The issue: I'm having trouble on my cabinet when moving between emulators, it sometimes freezes on loading the background/foregrounds, fails and loads the default background. Sometimes it just crashes and throws a direct x error (log & config attached). This is happening more often as I create the theme. Some info that may be of help: I'm unable to display the screen at native resolution of the theme (1080x1920). Instead it is reduced to 768x1366. This may add an extra layer of computing to compound the problem, and that's why I mention it. Graphics is a Saphire Radeon HD 3800 series, CPU is not the issue (3.2GHz quad core), and I did download the most recent drivers from AMD (Direct X runtimes are current). I just cleaned the computer of dust and increased my GPU's fan speed, which has aftermarket cooling on it. I've had no issues with it on my HTPC (Radeon HD 7700 series).where I do most of the creation/reverse engineering for the theme (a vertscreen/portrait version of GameRoomEX v2). The screen resolution is set to 1152x648 and GameEX is set to rotate 90 degrees. I have to look at it sideways, but it works.I hope this is not a sign of needing better graphics. However, as a side question, Is there a way to establish system requirements for themes? I will be releasing the theme, hopefully before summer's end, and would like to make a suggested minimum requirements section, if indeed graphics are more demanding. GameEx.ini log.txt
