  1. 18. The Pleasure Tower Firsly, Is that what the kids are calling it now? Second, This guy must be rather sure of himself. Third, what does he call it before using Viagra? The Leaning Tower of displeasure? Alternative names he could call it: 11. Thunderhorn 13. Seaman of Black Tears 8. The Big Kiss Other thoughts: I have no desire to see 14 19
  2. That could be a problom huh? Do you really need the Keyboard if you have the flight sticks, IDK since I'm just now looking into elite? And yeah, if i Shell out for Elite or EVE I probably will get a RIFT, still $350 is pretty steep. I'd like it just to play TLOZ: Windwaker in dolphin. I'm thinking of getting one just for that. Elite, EVE, many racing games supportr it too. So I think it would be a solid entertainment investment if you have or plan to get more than one game that supports it. Crazy how far VR has come!
  3. Sorry, meant logos (GameroomEX 2.0 (1920x1080) --> Media --> Logos).
  4. I noticed that the Icons in GREX v2 has black space with a different shade than the Black space in the window. So there appeared to be a grey box around some of the icons. I went through all of these a while ago and replaced the black with transparent in my copy. I was wondering if your aware of this and going to adress it in GR. If it helps, I could upload my LOGOS folder, but I'm not sure how since its 92MB..
  5. I love the console panel, am ok with the 3D graphics, and the decals are a nice touch! I'd say keep painting, or photoshoping PS: In case anyone is interested in a Nintendo Wii background/foreground for use with GameRoomEXv2 I wipped this up today mainly for myself, but perhaps you all can enjoy it also. The left panel (titles box) is formatted to display EMU movies Boxart instead of titles for this emulator, so you may want to make that change in settings, just an FYI. Config file is attached too. @Krack, let me know if I'm overstepping my bounds here and I'll remove the attachments. I don't want to step on your toes, I know your working on this project now and moving in a new direction from GREX v2. I thought it might be a little selfish to keep it to myself, someone else might get some enjoyment out of it besides me. Nintendo Wii.ini
  6. In the templates window choose "Mame" and "Mame select." Click on the weather's box in the main layout window. Then set the X or Y value in the properties window to somthing out of frame (say 2000). It will load as it does in start, but will be outside the window (essentialy invisible without disabling it altogether). The same can be done with most of the other elements.
  7. Would it be the 9th cloud you’re referring to? Unfortunately that skyship has sailed, or perhaps went up in a puff of smoke, for me sir. It went up, then crashed back down to responsability. Stupid life, always geting in the way.
  8. So the answer is that you can use a 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator 3D Mouse in games like elite dangerous (see video). Aparently you can use an Occulus Rift in Elite Dangerous also! Now I want this. I need more money!
  9. I'm a big fan of the Descent series and fan made levels. I haven't had much time to play them as would like. I would like a remake of the originals, but there is nostalgia in the 32-bit era graphics. Love the soundtrack too, Descent 2 especially.
  10. Yup, that is the ultility of what I'm looking for. Wish there was a more professional option. Might be a fun project though. I should look into elite, I was thinking more for Descent, but that video looks fun. Always thought being able to seemlesly slide up/down with left/right and forward/reverse would open up the manuvering in space games and make you invincable. Corkscrew manuvers, check! I'll have to look into this more.
  11. Makes me want to have a retro game and music party! Problem is, no one I know would come (I'm the lone geek, well maybe my cousin). I couldn't find a link to the music but I liked the Game select screen music for Arcade Classic 1 : Asteroids / Missile Command on the Game Boy. I remember recording it onto a mix tape.
  12. UPDATE: I found this which is actually vary similar in functionality to what I'm looking for. I'm not too sure about the tilting mechanism and design, but it is pretty sweet. On the pricier side, this looks friggin awesome. I need this in a sit down driving/flight/space sim with Nvidia 3D vision monitors. Oh, the Ideas! Anyone figured out that 3D panoramic Projector yet? The realism potential combined perhaps with VR headsets has me buzzing to fork out $$$! In that category this is very interesting. Pair it with an oculus rift or another good VR headset and this VR thing is starting to look very immersive/interactive.
  13. stigz maks a great point about OCing. This all the more reason to think about cooling in the begining when choosing a case and HS/fan combo.
  14. Floyd +1 Maybe its just me but Harley Quinn was one of thoes cartton crushes that made me like bad girls. You know it can only end in disaster, but you can't help yourself!
  15. I've built 2 HTPC's now: The first was full a ATX budget build that sacrifices as little as possable without being larger than an AV Reciever. It was based off of an Apevia X-Master. The Size was not too big, but I will admit that it takes some cable managment and planning to make work. Also you are limited in the size of video cards, the huge longer ones won't fit. The second was an attempt to make things more compact and portable. It's based around a Mini-ITX AMD A10-5800K APU and dual graphics. This is about the bare minimum to get you to about Wii emulation. I haven't had any trouble yet, but will soon. This option is not futureproof.Recomended HTPC must haves/things I've learned along the way: Cooling: A low-profile heatsink that accomadates a 120mm or larger fan. This can be difficult to fit in every case, so choose a case that will work. The reason is because there are quiet to silent 120mm fans that blow way more air than the next size down 92mm fans. I can't recommend a 120mm 4-pin PWM as I elected to go for the smaller 92mm variety (wish I had planed for a larger HS and CPU Fan), but this 3-pin 120mm fan is the best by far for general case cooling (IMO). It's 69CFM at 19 dB and only $9 each! The only sound is the air moving. And this is the best (quietest) 92mm 4-pin low profile (14mm thick) fan I've found. The general rule is that the larger the fan, the higher the CFM for the same noise. So go as big as your application allows. Plan around cooling as much as spesc and astetics. I mean it! CPU/Motherboard combo - AMD vs. Intel: Intel has a way more expensive top end but can outperform AMD's top chip in most benchmarks. If you spend the same on Intels chip/motherboard as you would on AMD's best, you will not get much more, if any. You will have to pay more to get more, on both motherboard and CPU. In my experiance AMD's best offering CPU and budget midrange Motherboard (Asus, Gigabyte, even ASrock) are sufficient for a mid-upper end gaming rig futureproof for 4-5 years of gaming before the games catch up to the CPU. The real battle is with the GPU, and as long as you stay current with that you won't start seeing real bottlenecks from the CPU during that time, unless there is a major tehnological advance of course. You can extend this for a year or two by spending about $200-300 more on an Intel CPU/Motherboard combo since they are often ahead of the curve/competition. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend. I'm happy with AMD, but see the appeal of Intel. Make the choice thats right for your needs. Remote Control: An HTPC requiires a remote control. You can choose a case that has an IR sensor built in or buy one aftermarket. If that is the case I Highly reccomend this. It is the most satisfying purchase of my HTPC builds. I reccomend pairing it with a Logitech Harmony remote. The iMon software that comes with it is actually very powerful and you can control the computer in almost every way imaginable. Even works in GameEx & Media Center. It connects between your 24-pin motherboard power connector and the PSU so it always has power, even when the HTPC is off. It also connects between the case power switch so it physically acts as the power button on the case, the case switch still works too. Lastly it connects to an internal USB header amd will always recognize the remote signal and start the HTPC even if the computer was off, unlike thoes usb IR sensors which only work when the OS is running. Get this dam thing!!! Maximizing space/airflow: These are great for maximizing space with extra 5.25" bays and these are great for maximizing airflow.Thoes are my 2 cents. Happy HTPC hunting! PS: Sorry about spelling, I no spl 2 good.
  16. Have you tried turning off "Password Protect Sharing" (Control Panel --> Network & Sharing --> Network & Sharing Center --> Advanced Sharing Settings --> Home or work). I usually get that problem when one of the computers has that enabled (default setting).
  17. I can't help feeling like a frat initiant. I'm getting spanked by microsoft but keep saying "Thank you sir, may I have another." LOL
  18. Ok, that's better but I wouldn't get into the clowns van without trepidation just yet. Think PS3. The PS3 originally promised to allow you to install other OS's. In an update that was revoked and if you intended to still use other features but wanted to retain the Other OS option, you were screwed. It's an update ultimatum policy that’s problematic, especially for those in the Open source community, homebrew community, and perhaps even the emulation community. That has me a little scared. With one update they could remove support for any app they wanted to (GameEX for example, if they deemed it an IP risk). Of course the PS3 jailbreaks are catching up with the update versions (cat and mouse game), but if you want to continue using it, back to windows for example, you would be forced to update to a version no “workaround" currently exists. This would keep the homebrew/jail breakers one step behind the OS and effectively destroy the enthusiast community that operates in legal grey areas. Remember who wins in the contest of cats and mice! Mice might be stealthy, but cats are ruthless. That's an unfortunate scenario indeed. Even if you hated what Napster did, you have to admit it changed the way music was consumed. Of course, it didn’t work out to well for that pirate legend. This type of boundary pushing is important to breakthrough industrial complacency, bring technological progression, and adjust to changing consumer markets. However, fat cats can’t see that. They just see a mouse to kill. This type of ongoing, willy-nily, forced updating is the noose that allows the OS industry to regain a strangle hold on the creativity of its users and put the "Fat cat" back into the bag. The question is will they abuse that power? Before you answer that question, remember who we're talking about here, MICROSOFT!!! My Conspiracy Theory
  19. Hollow man - nude model Jar Jar binks - Sarlacc victum, really anything where he's never seen or heard from again The Omega from Edge of Tomorrow - Actor, for the role of Phil in Groundhog Day
  20. I'll be making an acronis image of my 7 install before upgrading, just in case the clowns van turns out to be not so fun after all. Free candy is a good pitch though.
  21. Not to toot my own horn, but have you tried this one? I made it a few years back for my cab which also requires a vertical setup. You will have to follow the instructions exactly to get it to display properly, so pay attention to thoes if you want it to look as intended.
  22. I knew there had to be more to this story. Nothing about Microsoft ever felt free / open source / selfless, in fact quite the opposite. At least up to this point there was a known entry price with predictable timetables. This is...um...Apple’s opportunity to capitalize on Microsoft’s suicide. At least it will probably still be cheaper than apple. Maybe Google should turn Android into a full fledged OS, go after the big boys with open source like we always hoped linux could. IDK: I hate not knowing, but maybe the support packages won't be so bad (probably wishful thinking).
  23. Just downloaded VB, but haven't messed with it yet. FYI: I'm moving this thread to the User Projects forum since it doesn't really fit here. Continue the thread here.
