  1. Screen savers working fine for me, could you post your log with it deffinitly failing please (in a different topic) Thanks.
  2. You can remove those list items by using the config app, its either under Enable/Disable or Advanced MAME settings. Can't help you on the Jukebox, sugest you continue to use it as an external app, or request specific enhanments (in the correct thread) for the GameEx jukebox. Cheers.
  3. Do other versions work? Please post the error.
  4. On your mame machine, open network connections, go to your network card, click the support tab and verify the IP address is 192.168.2.136 if not then correct. In a web browser you should access the page like this http://192.168.2.136:8383 If your running a Firewall on your MAME machine, and are accessing from a different PC, yourll need to allow the port, default 8383. It could also be that something else is using that port, so you can change it if needbe. Note the Viewer had bugs in the 5.37 which meant you could only connect to 127.0.0.1 To get started to just be sure GameExtender is running. Run it on 127.0.0.1, run gameex in a window and load http://127.0.0.1:8383 on the same machine. GameExtender also will not work unless your using a registered version. Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on,
  5. This feature is really for normal displays and not LCD's unless configured in windows as normal displays (how to do that, I dont know, if its even possible) However: GameEx does have LCD support via LCDSmartie. Have you checked that out?
  6. Hi Mike, welcome. These two items are really sort of bugs that I need to address in a future release. I looked it into 1, and I think what is happening is this: Your 1941 and 1943 games I think are clones in MAME. ie not the originally manufactured game which is probably Japanese. When creating Videos GameEx only creates videos for games it finds that are not clones. If you dont have the original game in the made gamelist it wont create the videos which would be used by the clones too. If you have the original games, you can probably fix this by removing all the filtering options under "Advanced MAME settings", such as games that are japanese, Update the list again, and resume creating videos. Hope this helps.
  7. Have you looked at the attract mode settings? This is GameEx's built in Screensaver. During idle input in GameEx you can have it launch MAME games (continuously), or/and have it play videos from a folder.
  8. Looks like I've got a fair bit of interest. Thanks guys. I could still do with many more people though. Remember please email me if you wan to be a beta teter, and not or as well as post here. Main reason for emailing is that when the time is write I can email you back! Please include GameEx in the subject of the email, just to make life easier for me

    Small bug

The attract mode related bugs should be fixed in 5.39, uploading now. Not sure about the blitting issue, maybe a freak conflict. The gamelist issue, could be caused by the mouse initialising when DirectX inits and selecting a game.
  10. UltraVNC works fine for me. At least it was last time I used it.
  11. To Bob, Ill get you a debug version to identify where its going wrong shortly, if that's OK?
  12. An easy way to test if its working, is to run GameEx in a window, with Extender on 127.0.0.1 and then access on the same pc HTTP://127.0.0.1:8383 on the same PC. Also there were some issues with the GameExtender viewer, which have just been fixed in 5.38
  13. Thanks for reporting this is fixed in GameEx 5.38 now available. I'd love to see your setup, can you post some pics?
  14. 15th January 2006 - GameEx 5.37 - lots of new features The initial production release of GameExtender is here. As far as I know it's a world first for front ends. When enabled GameEx runs a tiny web server when running, this outputs sort of like an LCD Display on steroids, on either the same pc, or any networked or internet worked PC. You can see exactly what's going on with GameEx from a web browser, or via the included viewer, which gives a full screen output. You have to check it out. In addition, I believe another world first for an integrated front end is the ability to view the control panel while MAME is playing, by pressing a defined key (default is L). Thanks to HeadKaze for the idea, help and inspiration. If that's not enough, in advanced emulator config ini's you can now specify up to 10 buttons. NOTE: GameExtender only works with registered versions of GameEx.
  15. Do you know the keys that player 1 on your slikstik is using? If so I can probably talk you through setting up custom input in GameEx. Although I'm not worried about the happ controls. I'm a tool with tools, it has to come ready assembled or at least nearly, for me to have much joy on my own, and arcade cabinet engineers don't advertise in the yellow pages It may well be your slikstik itself could be reprogrammed to use standard keys. I'm guessing you need some IPAC config utility for this??

    Saving

Check out using an advanced emulator config for FCEU, you should be able to send F5 on exit. By default gameex is ending the process, thus its not saving. By using an advanced emu config you can tell it to send certain key strokes when the back button is pressed. I realise its not to user friendly to set up the configs, but have a go and post if you need more help. Tom
  17. Maybe I broke it in an update, Ill check it out sometime soon. I think your better using http://screenshotarchive.com though. That's what most people do now I think.
  18. You can see the buttons to exit a game here. http://tomspeirs.com/gameEx/docs.htm See Exit Game: Player 2 and Right Flipper To set ipac/slikstik use in GameEx just enable it under Input settings. You probably also need to set mame to use your slikstik, perhaps someone else can kindly tell you the cmd option for MAME.
  19. Just to let you know it's normal for GameEx to get set at 55% for up to 10 minutes or so. You may just not be waiting off. To turn off this step, disable verify roms under advanced mame settings. cheers. tom
  20. No worries mate
  21. To be more acurate its not a problem with any key, just the pause key, as I cant control the pause and resume correctly, because MAME captures the key at least once first. What I was saying is I am not ready to implement a hook at this particular moment in time, but later does not mean never, it's just not no.1 priority for me right now. Nothing to do with slack at all. Does the project seem like it suffers from slack, only the most updated front end of all time! I'll likely implement a custom control combination to do this, so it will work for all cab users. I for one dont have a button assigned to P on my cab as far as I know. I also really don't understand how it is useless to you. Please explain that in more detail?
  22. Hi, I'm in the UK, and I know they have it in the states, but I think its mostly crappy due to the huge size of the country. IE they only get a few local channels in a lot of cases. Yes, I do plan on adding support for Digital Terrestrial (eg Freeview in UK), but not to start with. If the TV card is compatible with Windows Media Center, then it should work. In general in order for a card to work, it either needs to have a hardware MPEG2 encoder such as PVR 150,250,350,500, or receive a signal trasnmitted in MPEG2 ie freeview/digital terrestrial. Digital cards also need to have BDA drivers. I used a Blackgold in MCE before I used SKY and an analog card. Initially Ill be focusing on analogue cards, don't buy one just yet, but Ill be keeping everyone posted as usual. Cheers.
  23. Comments and questions about GameEx TV support are welcome here, if anyones interested. Cheers, Tom
  24. Please don't condone cracking software on this forum. It ends up costing people like me just trying to make ends meat as well as corporations, besides that it breaks the forum rules. Take this as warning #1 but no hard feelings. Tom
  25. OK, I am pretty much ready to start working on TV Support in GameEx, and when I say TV I'm talking about PVR/DVR, as I know many of you already run GameEx on your TV! If you are interested and want to be and early adopter of GameEx TV, or just generally want to help the project out, and would consider yourself technically minded enough to Beta test software and can dedicate a little time - then please drop me an email. This offer and opportunity is only available to registered GameEx users, and its likely TV support will be a free upgrade for anyone registered now unless it ends up blowing away the competition, and Beta testers! You also must be able to test/run the software on a Windows XP (not MCE) which must have SP2 (or later), and obviously a tuner card. The tuner card must be compatible and work on MCE, but you don't need MCE. My email address is on this page: http://tomspeirs.com Many thanks in advance. Tom Speirs Mr GameEx
