Hey all, its the weekend, and I thought I'd do another license giveaway, and boost my ego at the same time In your own words, why do you think the GameEx forum is one of the best forums of its kind out there (Im not saying it is, its just a comp). It seems noone takes any notice when I say non registered users only and one post per person, so bollocks to it! I would ask though, if you do already have a license could you please say so? As well as a bit of entertainment this is meant to give folks who can't easily obtain a license a chance at getting one. Thanks. Tom.

I'm not sure about the minimizing, might be a codec issue if its trying to playing a video. but otherwise that's normal behaviour when there is no icon available. The games that dont have icons dont look like MAME games, hence why there is no icon.

HK, I had the same thing with advanced config which I fixed a while back. The API writeprivateprofile strips the quotes if the string is surounded in quotes. You have to check for quotes at the start and end and double them up when writing to the ini.

I've just released 8.82 which should now fix any image locking issues. Thanks.

Actually that error is misleading. Its actually failing viewing the comic, the images were created ok. The viewer is erroring, and its just failing when its trying to clean stuff up. Im releasing another version which will have error logging on the actual viewer.

JT, I would be helpful if you can get to me one of the comic books that is not working Thanks. Tom

GameEx is not even trying to do anything with the images at that stage, its just trying to delete any previous tmppdf*.png files. Its failing before its even loading images. So I suggest a reboot then trying to delete all those tmppdf.png files files from the data folder. Maybe its some kind of NTFS issue?

Hey folks, just a little bit of useless info. The first fully public release of GameEx was released 3 years tomorrow. For a bit of nostalgia, here are the first 5 GameEx news releases. It was purely a simple MAME front end and nothing else. 6th September 2004 - Version 0.51 of GameEx available. Several minor fixes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5th September 2004 - Version 0.50 of GameEx available. HideOS.exe (which hides the desktop when launching games), will now run on version 1.0 of the .net framework as well as 1.1. Fixed attract mode on Windows 98. Several minor fixes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4th September 2004 - Version 0.49 of GameEx available. Bug Fix: now works with windows 98, ME. Bug Fix: Now works with Roms in folders. Added attract mode/screensaver. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3rd September 2004 - GameEx website up. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2nd September 2004 - Version 0.48 of GameEx available.

It does not do one page at a time, but no it does not extract the whole pdf before viewing.

Yeah, you have to hold down button 1, but I've made it also page with left and right for the next version. Ill fix the MCE remote channel up/down later.

The paging should work, if its not its a bug. Have you tried, button 1 with left or right?

Maybe GameEx is not detecting the version on MAME properly. Try editing C:\program files\gameex\config\gameex.ini And check BezelVersion under [iNTERNAL] It should be = 2 for MAME 0.107 and above.

You can just use Also Launch instead of Launch Or change the above start cmd (which is wrong, i think thats the windows 98 version) to START "SOMETEXT" "C:\Roms\Atari Lynx\xPad\xpadder.exe"

To cut a long story short, its not possible. You can't use the GameEx generic artwork option and use the individual artwork at the same time. Its either one or the other

If your still having problems, can you post your log?

Its simply just another snap shot on the screen thatt shows the game description, recommended games etc. Same as for Title, Panel, Marquee etc. Nothing that amazing Im afraid.

Hi, its just another snap shot that shows on the game info page for MAME games, where you have Marquee, title etc you can now also have a game artwork preview image, if you have the corresponding png files.

Its on the main download page at the bottom. It also allows you to download it when you install GameEx.
