12th November, 2007 - GameEx 8.96 The GameEx community has been very busy and with thanks to forum members LB11, PimpDaddyStu, BKenobi and NoLogic this release of GameEx contains all new replacement game databases as well as various new ones. Headkaze has been busy too, and this release contains his LCD/LED Plugin version 2.31 which also includes updated colors.ini thanks to DaveMMR from the BYAOC forums. Since the databases have come on leaps and bounds I have implemented an addition to when browsing by category so you can now select games based on number of players.

I can see that the MAME ICONS dont seem to be caching. Try removing the ICON path, see if that makes a difference.

Yes, please do LB. GameEx itself is a work in progress anyway Just be sure to tell me exactly what should be included, or just send over the finished ones. Thanks a lot for all your hard work guys.

I can help with 1 and for 2 ill consider adding an option for that. 1. To fix this you can got into control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance, and either set visualy for best performance or turn off the windo animations. 2. Pressing any key should then bypass this, no? 3. Unfortunatly, there is not much I can do about this. Believe me it used to be a lot slower than this and has been improved over time. Its because GameEx has to reload all the front end graphics again, and yes, some of these are already cached. 5-7 seconds does sound a little long though, it certainly does not take that much on my systems. Can you post your log, although I dont think Ill be able to help.

Yes, included and fixed (although you need to put the double up of quotes in the configs). To be honest, Im just waiting patiently to be told there ready and to be given the (finalized (or part finalized)) files. 8th November, 2007 - GameEx 8.95 Now includes Ben Baker's (AKA Headkaze) LCD/LED Plugin Version 2. This is probably the most complete plugin of its type in any of todays front ends. Its pretty new and cutting edge, so please report any problems on the forum. Also, please show your support for Ben, maybe donations, and even feedback and recognition goes a long way. This replaces the version 1 plugin, so if you were using that you will need to reconfigure New input setting, to enable/disable jumping in the lists by keying first letter of items. Useful for certain arcade controls, so it does not happen inadvertedly when pressing a button or control New spanish translation by Manual A. Many thanks Added Brazlilian Portuguese and Dutch to language selections in Setup Wizard

All the commands available are listed in custominput.ini. There is no way to launch a randon game directly from a key press. Sorry.

You all may also want to try spesoft Backup, coded by me. Its designed perfectly for this. I've been using Roboopy since 2000, and its one of the things that inspired me to write my own program. It pretty much does everything robocopy does, accept it has a wizard style GUI that makes the whole thing simple. http://www.spesoft.com/spesoftbackup.aspx

What loading screen are you talking about? If GameEx is not registered it just shows the nag screen.

Rename the emulator title from "SNES". If a custom theme layout is the problem, it wont use it. Worth a try.

They say installing more RAM improves performance better than Readyboost does. I think its a little bit of a gimmick, and a little over rated by the likes of the press. I don't like Vista either, I cant currently use it for doing any real work, it just don't cut it for professional usage. However, for media center usage, its excellent, and GameEx plays nice with it (unlike a lot of other S/W). Although you wont believe what work I had to put in to make that happen.

This is related to the AcidBrain vision theme. I've seen it before. Not quite sure what the issue is with it, it must have some custom layouts for emulators. Changing theme should fix the problem.

For info: Missing items from lists if all seems ok and there enabled can be caused by text/lanaguage changes and the text being blank for the list item.

Funny you should post this now, I nearly implemented an option for that in the last release, as I was trying to address a few irritations people have. Ill try and do it for the next one. It is actually quite easy to add an option for it.

No worries, we are all here for the same thing. You know, I do what I can and try to listen, no offence, but I suggest you structure and put across better, any issues you may find. Here, its he who puts things in a way that get better, and the right kind of attention. I mean try to work with us than against us.

Just for your info, the read tag method, ONLY takes a long time the first time.

31st October, 2007 - GameEx 8.90 For custom keyboard input, multiple keys can now be assigned to the same function. This is accomplished by edited custominput.ini and seperating multiple key codes with the pipe symbol New audio setting for Jukebox startup. It is now possible to disable the Jukebox automatically queuing your entire library and starting playing upon initial loading
