Battle Damage - Unofficial Star Wars Hype Thread

Thanks for the warning! I'll leave it be with the silly decision Lucas made to kill him off like a pansy so early in ROTJ. -
The last few weeks have had some amazing free titles over at the Epic Store, and here's another. Just posting this in case you don't have your EPIC client running, as you won't want to miss this one.

Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery from what's been a crazy long and painful experience. Get well soon!

Wow, it's just a PC now. I guess they had to push something out there to avoid being sued into oblivion and that something is apparently a mini-ITX style SFF build loaded into an Atari inspired case.

Nobody knew what COVID was back then, but they come bundled with M 95 masks these days

I enjoyed Solo actually, but it should have been much better than it was. I also purposely didn't include the other stuff as it wasn't box office releases. -
Battle Damage - Unofficial Star Wars Hype Thread

This is a fine example of how clueless not only Lucas was with his mind-numbing idiotic "edits" that added nothing entertaining (while outraging the fan base), but what a tremendous lack of vision Disney had with the story line once they had the keys to the kingdom, pun intended. Take Rogue One out of the equation and what Disney has delivered is a steaming pile of shit that's far worse than what Lucas put out there for the prequel trilogy. If anything, this re-imagining proves that at least Lucas was more spot on with it, but they are his stories at the root though! I didn't even bother with the last movie after that POS Last Jedi. Didn't have to, Abrams just regurgitates the past...... "The Force Awakens" anyone! Or should I say Khannnnnnnnnn Ridiculous, get someone with more imagination if that's the best you can muster up! Talk about a safety net. -

Happy Birthday!

Because it is posted in the Evolution support forums. It's not a big deal, I just thought there for a minute you may have upgraded to EVO.
-
I do not know the answer to your question, but I am curious if you are you attempting to do this in GameEx Evolution?

NSFHW though I went with this and it made moving even the washer and dryer down the steps a breeze.

True, but nowhere to put it! My last CRT beast was a color accurate photographer grade 30" a retired photographer friend game me when he closed his studio. It weighed 220 lbs, and I couldn't feel my fingers for days after me and a helper about killed ourselves getting it upstairs. Put some nice grooves in the hardwood along the way! The horizontal deflection convertor blew within weeks of getting it in place, and that's when I decided against ever having CRT on the second floor (or third).

To me the $26 cable isn't a outrageous price, and the build quality is worth it to me for a relatively small price premium. Some of the other mods or options, not so much. I could never see me stacking a series of video processors, specifically for the reason you stated. That last 1.00 to .05% is like stereo equipment, the land of diminishing returns! I've always leaned toward decent cables, but not exotic over priced/hyped snake oil. My HT is wired with Blue Jeans Cable, which at one time was much more reasonable than now, but they are still a good value. That said, I have hundreds upon hundreds of dollars in BJC component/composite and RF cables, with many of the former not being used any longer. All this stuff is Beldon mid to higher spec, which I used to build my studio interconnects with. It's good stuff without breaking the bank. I never was a Monster fan, although I do have some of their products. About a 1000' of CL2 rated cable in 12 AWG that I feed my speakers with, mostly because it's super high strand count, which makes it very flexible despite the fact it's encapsulated in a 3/4 damage and fire resistant wall pull designed jacket. I also have a set of original XBOX Monster Component AV kits (Toslink) which everyone raved about back in the day, and had such good look with them I decided to go looking for a back-up set. In this instance everyone indicated the cheap cables where complete trash, but I got lucky and grabbed a deal on ebay for an almost like new Monster set and a new unopened Toslink, so basically I got my modded XBOX and my unaltered one running over component (to HDTV though).

Only what you've enlightened me to, which probably qualifies me as not a complete novice. HDTV, due to lack of options This plugged into my retrotink 2x (not something I would have known this time last year, or RetroRGB, who recommended the linked cable) Stock Assuming the above worked, I'm satisfied. Collecting the games, especially since there are a bunch of Star Wars games I wanted to play.

I never played the N64, so I can't really offer any opinion of value. Along the lines of the exchange in the MiSTer thread though, crt baby!

Yeah, I've watched more than one of these amazing SONY deals come up on CL and probably finally head for the landfill due to lack of interest. I just didn't have the room, but ultimately this is how these games are meant to be played and no amount of tinkering will yield the proper results as easily, and certainly not as affordably. Who knows, if the time comes that I have a new place again, things might be different!

Not now. I bought them last year on one of the "Black Friday" sales that seemed to start weeks in advance of the actual day and continue on until they outstayed their visit. These were back-ordered due to demand and by the time they arrived other things had greatly taken priority of my time. They've been sitting a big box that is used for bulking shipping twelve drives, something that looks like could survive some incredible abuse. I actually just opened them the day I started this thread think it was four retail boxes, when in fact it was 4 OEM style drives suspended in a shock resistant array of foam. It is what is is at this point and given everything else that has occurred in the same time period, it's small potatoes anyway!

You guys are killing me, it's not as if I went out and bought "White Van" gray market hard drives I own 12 Hitachi 4TB NAS drives, and yes, they are in fact awesome, but they are 7200 RPM and for something to back them up I didn't need that type of performance or power usage for an always on system like this. These WD Reds checked all the boxes, but the latest revision was a bait and switch that they conveniently didn't advertise, but continued to market as "NAS" even though it no longer was PMR. I'm going to use these to create a large spanned drive in Windows 10, so I can back up my NAS. Going to 5400 was a concern, but I something I never would have considered had I known that it was 5400 RPM combined with inferior read/write speed on top of that. Although I didn't buy these specifically for a NAS, I bought what I thought was NAS quality drives for the added assurance of long term dependability and better I/O performance. I'm mostly posting this to vent my frustration and prevent anyone else here from getting burned like I did. Evidently quality has started south at WD. I recall back in the 2000's when Seagate was the "go to" drive, only to fall on hard times and get kicked around, I guess it's WD's turn!

The ironwolf drives get pretty good marks, so far, and the WD Gold's you refer to are what is now the HGST drives. Honestly I'd seen enough of the old golds give it up to start worrying about them, which probably explains why WD moved to the HGST facility drives. I lost the hot spare feature when I started rebuilding with 4TB drives, but there's just one of those original seagates remaining, so I expect I'll be back to a hot spare as soon as it goes. Luckily I bought 4 of the HGST's before the WD rebadge of them. The thing is, I bought these Red "NAS" drives based on reviews and data from places like BackBlaze and the reality is the price on these wasn't cheap when you consider they are 5400RPM, but again I bought them for cold storage for snap shots of the NAS, not for the actual NAS. I'm just taking extra precautions so as to remove as much potential for data loss as possible.
