+10 for this!!! Let me add something, Draco: standard rules for eBook publishing do exist, and they are the same as for the "real" books. The fact is that you have even pages always to the left and odd pages always to the right. So title page or not, if you have a non-standard alignment with pages, you'll have your document messed up. In addition, I would add that most of the ebooks software I tried (even Adobe Reader) take this aspect into consideration when visualising the book in two-page mode. Adding an option for this, though, would be the ideal solution!!!

Hello! I'm in the process of reorganizing my ebook collection, and so noticed something bad when browsing comics or magazines with the two-page view, although this is valid for books, too. Basically, the left and right pages are reversed, due to the fact that the first page (the cover) isn't aligned to the right at the beginning. I've illustrated the whole thing. Let me explain: In the two-page-view mode, the first page and the second are visualized aligned: This is not like in the real magazines (or books etc..), where the first page (the cover) is always to the right. The browsing-chain will cause, at this point, an inversion of the right pages with the left ones, with cosequences like these: and where the correct visualization should be: As you can see, this is annoying when reading magazines or comic books, or mangas, where often a single image is splitted in two side-by-side pages. The solution is to display the 1st page, and only the 1st page, alone and aligned to the right: This way the odd and even pages will be displayed in the right order. In fact, most commod ebook readers have this feature. Obiviously this regards only the two-page-view mode, the other views, as a single page view, aren't affected. That's all. I hope you will consider this issue... sorry if I am a pain in the neck. Regards, Alpha.

I completely agree with you, Adultery. This is why I hope Tom would consider to "adjust" these two things...

Feature & Enhancement Requests
AlphaUMi replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
I would suggest to add the following feature: Ability (or option) to not see hidden files in the lists (I'm thinking mostly about those Folder.jpg we use to have a preview in GameEx), if they are set as hidden in windows. -
Uhm... issue #2 does not seem a bug... browsing images gives me the same result. It seems that this is rather a feature request: ability (or option) to not see hidden files if they are set as hidden in windows.... Issue #1 is still in question though...

I think I should report a couple of bugs: 1) In eBook reader, GameEx doesn't open CBZ files that have an accented letter in their names (like à è é ì ò). This doesn't happen with pdf, where a file named "Là Là.pdf" can be opened with no issues. But if I try to open "Là Là.cbz"... well, I can't. I have to rename the file (for example, "La' La'.cbz"). 2) Not sure if this is a bug, but when browsing in the Media Library, I see all the files in folders, including hidden ones like Folder.jpg (I made all of them hidden). Again, this doesn't happen while browsing in music, videos, images and ebooks menus, where a hidden file like Folder.jpg remains hidden as it is supposed to be. I just felt I should report this. Regards, Alpha.

Hello Chazz! When will we be able to download your wonderful project?

Man, you were so eager to drink that bier... I guess you have the biceps and grip of Schwarzenegger... Sorry that you got hurt! But nonetheless you drank that bier, anyway?

Hello! For the first time I'm experimenting with the Theme Editor. I have no graphic skill, so no way to create a new theme from scratch. But I'm in the process to update I theme I like very much (Future Retro). I added weather and scrolling, but couldn't find a way to add, apart from snap/video images, other artwork like cover, title, etc. Draco, I opened your theme "Enter the Dragon", and I saw an "Image2" box in a place that correspond to the cover or title display. How can I add these images? Alpha.

I tend to exclude that. But please clarify, wich kind of 3rd party application do you have in mind that could interfere in such a way? Plugins? I don't use any. I added just your WinUAE loader, that of course doesn't matter here. Furthermore, I overwrote my ini with a backup and those entries are recreated. This tells us that it is the main executable and not the installer.

Does this mean that GameEx looks for another location than CONFIG\GameEx.ini before searching in what should be the default folder?
-
Anyone else has noticed that GameEx.ini file has considerably increased in size since last version? After a quick look I saw a lot of entries like these: I have emu_1, emu_2 etc. entries for every system. The point here is that these entries seem to be a duplicate (although in a different form) of the classical entries for emu configuration, like this: I'm not reporting any issue, I'm just asking for curiosity and to learn which is their purpose... any thoughts? Tom? Regards, Alpha. GameEx.ini
-
Yes, I'm sure there is. Specific views for every page are stored in GameEx.ini. When I was experimenting with GameEx, I found these entries, but now I don't have them, since I actually resetted my views. If you want to attach your GameEx.ini, we coluld take a look and tell you what to delete to reset views to their defaults. Regards, Alpha.

Check your registry, probably there are leftovers of your old MAME installation that are causing the conflict... In fact, I guess that the discrepancy is the cause of your issue, as you already noted...
-
You can use GameEx itself to rip your giant collection in mp4, provided that handbrakecli.exe (see http://handbrake.fr/) is in GameEx folder. Then open Setup Wizard and check "HTPC / Multimedia Settings". There are the DVD Ripping Settings. Configure them and you should find "Rip DVD" in video menu... @OP: By the way, how many GB do you have on your HD?
-
When a very savvy friend of mine says "I'm downloading something", you have to interpret: "there is a progress bar like that I see while downloading, so every time I see a progress bar there is a download". Jokes apart, OP says: so he\she (allegedly he) should be OK. But please clarify nullPointer's question, since he's all right, this forum doesn't condone piracy.

Great idea to keep things more organized!

Hello, and welcome to the forum! Although GameEx applies a "best naming match" criteria, it's better to make sure all your artwork has the same name as the ROMS. About your issue: Are you using a GoodMERGE set? If so, check the roms inside the archive for naming discrepancies. But my best guess is to take another screenshot and replace. Probably something is wrong with the image. Regards, Alpha.

A first suggestion, although not resolutive I fear, would be to try the GUI version (MameUI 146). I'm not very savvy in setting up the command line version through ini editing, but it would be simpler to use the GUI and try adgusting some video options...

Happy Birthday Draco!

Well, I wrote a long post of "philosophical" thoughts about life but in the end I deleted everything, because I realise that you don't need that in this moment. Let me say that I am really sorry for what happened. And that I regard you very highly. Accept my condolences, Alpha.
