    Mame config

Yes, configuring MAME "as MAME" in GameEx means that the FrontEnd has the ability to read history.dat, mameinfo.dat, catver.ini, etc... and filters the roms accordigly. Setting up MAME as an emulator like others is a completely different matter.
  2. Hello and welcome! First of all, we need your configuration and your log files to troubleshoot this problem closer. Your issue is too vague for now. Please read http://www.gameex.in...o-ask-for-help/ and post the relevant files here so we can have a closer sight of what is happening. This will be a starting point, but a necessary one. Regards, Alpha
  3. Nevermind. I figured it out. I use to change theme quite often. It turned out that my current Theme.ini (from Space Invaders) had StartupVideo=False by default. Curiously, setting it to "True" doesn't change a thing. Only removing the entry entirely gives priority to GameEx.ini, and so my video shows up as expected now. You can mark this as "resolved"!
  4. I'm astonished watching these images... can't wait 'til release! Great work Draco!
  5. It seems that I'm not able to play a video just after lauching GameEx. Ask me if you need my whole config file, but AFAIK the relevant entry is: StartUpVideo=F:\MEDIA\Video\Video musicali\Genesis Setup Wizard detects and shows this path correctly. I've tried with several videos and directories, with media files I can normally play in GameEx. If you notice my log, it seems that GameEx simply skips this step: Log: Please, what do you guys think? Am I missing something or what?
  6. 1) Sorry, no at the moment 2) You should be able to see extras, at least sound files and images (maps, covers, etc). Which GB system are you emulating? 3) Maybe using custom menus... but I'm not savvy at all whit that... 4) Sorry, I have no idea... I don't use a xbox controller.
  7. Now everything is clear... and I agree whith the decision to hide those games, since I like to have my list as clean as possible (like everyone else, I suppose), and it would be completely pointless to have those games in the list... If other FE blindly show them... well it's their limit...
  8. Interesting... I wonder why this happens?
  9. Well, your system can treat Theme Editor as Notepad. As I said, mine was just an hypothesis. Nevermind.
  10. You should ask original authors first. If they openly stated, in a readme or somewhere else, that you can use their images as you want, you're golden. If not, contact them and I'm sure they'll be willing to give you permission to use their images for your (very good, imho) work. As a personal note... I want to add that... if they shouldn't respond you, feel free to use the images as you want, better renewed than lost...
  11. Excuse me, this is that kind of topic in which I usually shouldn't have posted.... because my graphic skills are non-existent, otherwise I would have contributed somewise.... This is what I did: 1 - Loaded BlueBox v2 in the Theme Editor (never done before, it takes awhile to complete loading) 2 - Tried to change resolution to 1920x1080, task never completed, I had an error (probably a .NET Framework error) and Theme Editor crashed. This confirms, in a way, what I was supposing the issue is to be: lack of resources. This is only an assumpiton, of course, an hypothesis. My laptop comes from 2006, so you can guess what... My suggestion is to lower down the resolution, just to see if you can handle the same number of background and foreground whitout crashes (12 or so, you say).... Post Scriptum: Nevermind if what I wrote makes no sense... Basically I have zero knowlege of Theme Editor and I base my assumptions only by common PC usage...
  12. It has been a pleasure. Enjoy GameEx.
  13. You missed this option: You can reach it through Setup Wizard. Custom --> MAME Settings and search for "Only Existing Roms"
  14. Great work Krakerman, keep it up! I agree with all the suggestions you received until now... Personally I really like the C64, Atari 8-bit and Amiga backgrounds... and my compliments with the monitor you designed... it seems so real and "in context"... I would have never said it is "painted"..
  15. @PimpDaddyStu: I think you shouldn't have both mounting programs installed: as far as I have understood, ISO mounting support should be considered legacy. I don't know if your problem is related to this, but first thing I would have tried to uninstall it. That's why Tom (if I remember correctly) was thinking of removing it from the setup. It could generate confusion.
  16. Understood... I already had that suspect... anyway, as already stated, Setup Wizard works as expected for me... I personally tried to change the theme. @Seb02: Make sure GameEx has free writing access to the configuration file, mostly if you are under Vista or 7. Are you able to set\change other options without issues? Maybe you can try to reinstall GameEx in another directory (C:\GameEx or C:\Emulators\GameEx for example), and see what happens. IMPORTANT: make a backup of CONFIG\GameEx.ini and CONFIG\custominput.ini before uninstalling, and overwrite after reinstalling in the new directory, or you'll loose your personal configuration.
  17. @Adultery: Ehm... I'm completely out of date (so embarassing... I missed this thread)... but let me take this thread to give you my best wishes for a happy New Year Adultery!
  18. SetupWizard works as it should for me. I can not think of something that could go wrong in such a simple operation. Just to be sure... After selecting your theme with the SetupWizard, do you click on the right arrow below until the "configuration completed" screen appears, don't you? Can you change theme internally from GameEx, using the relative option? Do your other themes work well? Because, just in case, you could try to re-download and reinstall them...
  19. Yes, it does! Check this thread if you want to stay tuned: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/10807-imagic-a-new-plugin-im-working-on/
  20. I don't want to appear too confident with this... but yeah, I'm absolutely sure that this is the way Windows manages and orders numerical names (and names in general) since Win98, and probably even before, but I cannot say since Win98 was my first Windows OS. Actually I could bet everyone has this issue... because it is a Windows issue... and let me know if you find a way (or even an option, that I'm sure doesn't exist) to change this behaviour.... I simply added a "1" to the first game of the series, so that they are like: SMB1 SMB2 SMB3 You shouldn't have problems with database, because GameEx should find the best match. Just make sure all your artwork and assets are renamed accordingly... This is my humble suggestion....
  21. Try scrolling right or left until the "Change view" appears... In that view there aren't any buttons at the top of the page... just right or left scrolling. Randomly? Since GameEx is supposed to keep track of your chosen view for each page, I guess you changed your view, maybe unwillingly... otherwise it could be a bug.
  22. GameEx is full of filtering options, and this is good for users like me who don't wont to have every clone\bugged\majong\not working game in the list. The most common reason for this behaviour is that some sort of filtering is enabled. Check your options with the Setup Wizard (under MAME settings). But if you mean that, just after upgrading, approx. 180 of your games went lost, most probably there is a bug in GameEx... Anyway, it's always a good thing to attach your GameEx.ini (zipped) and GameEx.log, so that we can see directly what's goin' wrong in your setup. Please, post these files. Regards, Alpha.
  23. Resolved? I guess it worked with: mame ""[ROMPATH]"\"[ROMFILE]"" ?
  24. Thanks! Great release!
  25. Thank you for v12.48 Tom!
