  1. So it seems that, in the end, you are satisfied! And it couldn't be otherwise. Think that you can make your cabinet more than an emulator launcher, it could be an HTPC with which you can listen to your music, watch videos, and provided that it is connected to internet, you can watch youtube videos, listen to radio stations.... Ok... this is NOT advertising at all... just my admiration for such a wonderful program! Let's come to your issues.... If I understand it correctly, my suggestions turned up to give you an error... sorry for that. The fact is that they waere just a guess. Lesson learned: don't touch the [TEXT] section. Please, since this is the first time I heard about someone who's using custom text, could you please tell us where GameEx saves such informations (I mean folder\filename.ext)? Regards, Alpha.
  2. This gives me a reason to explain something Krak. Since I used to change themes quite often, I found it annoying to have to change the background image directory every time. This is because doesn't exist a naming convention. But I resolved this as follows: 1) I left background images entries in Setup Wizard blank, for every emulator. I simply left them blank. 2) Fore every theme I downloaded, I simply renamed the relative background file with the same name as in "Default-Default" theme. It seems that GameEx automatically detect the name and display it correctly. As far as I know, these are the "universal" names, limited to some systems I checked: Atari 2600 Commodore Amiga Nintendo Game Boy Nintendo Game Boy Advance Nintendo Game Boy Color Nintendo N64 Nintendo NES Nintendo SNES Sega Genesis Sega Master System Sony Playstation turbografx Renaming them this way, I don't have to bother changing directories every time I want to change a theme...
  3. I admire guys like kacey who are willing to make themes... unlike me. Think of it as a learning process... The best way to learn to make themes is... making themes! Keep your work up! Your start is nice for my tastes... just an aesthetic opinion of course... no knowledge to share on this topic.
  4. Although what Draco said is absolutely true, please follow my instructions, as I think I have a workaround simple enough for you to follow... 1) Forgive Custom Menus for the purpose you have at the moment. 2) Forgive Custom Text. 3) Be sure you have default options if you messed up with custom menus and/or custom text. Now to the funny part: A) Go to GameEx\CONFIG\ folder and locate a file called GameEx.ini Make a COPY of this file and save it in another folder, for example in My Documents. This is a precaution, just in case... C) Open GameEx.ini with a text editor such as Notepad D) Search the following text: Start=Start.. Replace "Start.." after the "=" with whatever you want. E) Search the following text: StartMAME=MAME Replace "MAME" after the "=" with Coin-Up F) Save the file and run GameEx. I'm relatively confident that this procedure will work. If not, restore your original GameEx.ini that you backed up... and then I will surrender... But I think that this is worth a try. Ah... please, in any case don't forget to let us know if it works or not!
  5. I would propose to add the ability to set a custom background for GameBase systems, like the one that already exists for every other emulator. I have a feeling that GameBase is not so popular here, but shoudn't be too hard to add that option in the Setup Wizard. This way, we could use the already existing C64 or Amiga background images (present in most themes) to customize GameBase.
  6. Use Microsoft Access or Open Office (should have compatibility for mdb files, but not sure). Regarding your second question... well, I've never used Custom Text, but want to suggest a very simple alternative: edit GameEx.ini (in GameEx\CONFIG folder) and search for the section [TEXT]. Now search the entries you want to change... and change them as you want. It should work. Make a backup of your GameEx.ini before trying, just in case...
  7. My compliments Krak! Very nice!
  8. Maybe you set up a software to control your cursor behavior, but forgot to quit it after you close GameEx (probably in "Launch Before\Launch After" options in Setup Wizard)? Just a guess, of course...
  9. Uhmmm... maybe the cause was this: after loading and quitting that snes game, GameEx set the resolution to 1280x1280 instead of the initial 1280x800?
  10. Thanks to you! May the b-side inspire you for your continuous effort into improving GameEx! LOL!
  11. I would just to add that this happnens with every aspect ratio I choose... "Original Aspect - Not Zoomed", "Widescreen to 4:3 - Zoomed", etc...
  12. Sorry, I was editing my first post just to add a snap while you replied me... should be evident now... Thanks!
  13. Not a big issue... but... It's since I started using GameEx that I notice the presence of brackets in the upper left corner of the screen just after launching a videoclip. I wonder to know... what these brackets stand for? P.S.: Don't be distracted by the b-side of Lindsay Lohan... please force yourself to look above...
  14. At this point, isn't it preferable to use the internal emulator key for snaps instead, as nullPointer has already suggested?
  15. Yes han, it means exactly that!
  16. Thanks! Great list of fixes and a great improvement (the first bullet point, as nullPointer said)!!!
  17. @Chazz: I think the weather settings are saved in a cookie for ie.... or at least this is what was said to me after configuring the city\region. If so, the WeatherSelect.exe, maybe, is not related with this feature...
  18. What does this mean? Because of the error your whole setup is "frozen"?
  19. Oh, I see... It's under HTML applications.... I disabled and deleted them but it's a peace of cake to retrieve the weather web link from gameex.default.ini.... So it seems that GameEx connects to: http://10foot.cbueng...?start=1〈=2 I've re-added the web app in my configuration, but I can notice no error... Draco, is this the way the "internal web app" should look like? If so, the link works well for me! What the hell could this mean? It's a web link basically, not a GameEx issue!
  20. Hey Draco, I would like to check this but, really, I don't even know how to start! I think I should have GameExtender enabled, right? Because I enabled it, but I didn't notice any difference in GameEx.... the Wheather icon on the start page, instead, works perfectly.... How could I have that "Wheather internal application enabled"? I barely considered GameExtender in my setup, so I'm completely noob here...
  21. Really amazing, Draco! I love ALL the images!
  22. Wow! So wonderful, so detailed! Amazing! Fantastic! Chazz, you have my compliments for impressing me a lot!
  23. Understood... Forgive me, it was just a try.
  24. OK, excuse me guys if I interfere with a subject (Themes and relating stuffs) in which I'm not very savvy... But, could it be useful if Dublin attached his/her Theme.ini for the various themes in question? Some time ago I had an issue understanding why GameEx wasn't displaying the startup video despite "startupvideo=true". The reason was that in Theme.ini (related to the theme I was using) "startupvideo" was set to false. Since that, I understood the importance of Theme.ini. I'm not sure, really, but maybe it would be worth to check the various Themes.ini, although the fact that this problem is extended to more than one theme isn't promising well.
  25. So it seems to behave too random... I've never mixed mp3 and video in the jukebox, but in my opinion it is meant to be this way... for example for adding a random music background to a random non-musical videoclip... But in this case we have music videos... which need to have their music. I'm not sure what you can do in this case, - I just would to say that, probably, GameEx has been planned to behave this way.
