  1. Oops! I forgot that GameEx makes a copy of the configuration file before upgrading. And indeed, when it happened to me, it was just after an upgrade. Sorry for having suggested a looong way to restore your settings. Follow fRequEnCy's instructions (I mean those above my post), and I'm almost sure you can restore GameEx the way it was. In my case GameEx.UpgradeBackup.ini remained intact.
  2. +1! And I would add: maybe Gamebase could be worth having his custom background, too!
  3. Have you checked your GameEx.ini file in GameEx\CONFIG folder? Maybe it got reset. It's a very rare case, but once it happened to me. I found my config file completely blank. Everything was gone. This file contains your personal configuration. Did you do a backup of this file, didn't you? Even though your config file isn't the case, I strongly suggest to make a backup of that file. In case you find your config file untouched and "alive", post it here amongst your log file, following these instructions.
  4. This topic has been useful for me too! Thanks Adultery!
  5. Hello! You can find them here. Within GameEx site. As long as I can understand, it's not an heavy task once you create a 3D model. The hard part comes when you have to apply every image to that model...
  6. Happy bday from me, too!!!
  7.. If someone asked me: "Do you think the guy who invented it is sane?", I would answer:
  8. It's a really bizarre thing, isn't it? I doubt someone could make good use of it for washing dresses....
  9. I personally downloaded and installed this, directly from GameEx site. These files have an .x as extension, but I have no idea about what kind of files these can be. I'm not savvy in this matter, but you could take a look at the link above. P.S.: Don't think you'll get a 3D image for every game in a MAME set... only the most famous ones. EDIT: Just wondering how in the hell could a png image become a 3D model????? Cheers, Alpha.
  10. Wow! A theme inspired by one of the greatest band of all time! My compliments Draco, you're really a theme machine!
  11. I found this news about a curious and somewhat funny idea for a new-concept cabinet. You can read about it here What do you think? It would be the right machine for you or for your wives?
  12. It's a great idea! And you're really a bright guy!
  13. Thanks! I'm going to update...
  14. I would like to suggest another thing. At the moment, when you are in a specific game menu and scroll through titles, manual, cartridges, an so on, when you highlight the game music or the manual, you get the game snap in the preview panel. It would be better if, instead of that snap, we could have the default image for Jukebox and for e-books, respectively for game music and game manuals. I said the default image: what I mean is the pre-defined image that comes with your current theme. This would make more sense, in my humble opinion. Cheers, Alpha.
  15. Perfect! Now that the concept is clear and Tom already said that he'll do this for the next release, we have just to wait! Thanks again, Tom!
  16. Well Draco, nothing to add except that I noticed the same while tweaking\slightly modifying a couple of themes. This means it is a real limitation, for the moment.
  17. Well, I don't know how to make my idea understandable, maybe a couple of images can help. I took two snaps from page 9 and 10 of my Rome - Total War manual. These two pages are separate, I mean they are two scans. In fact, in the single page view, you first see page 9 as follows: then, you see the next page as follows: Now, in the two pages side-by-side view, I would like to see them as follows: Do you see? There is no space, no gap between the right margin of the left page and the left margin of the right page: they are practically "attached". This makes the pages as they are in real printed document. Hope I made it clear. Thanks Tom for listening to my suggestions and for realizing them! Cheers, Alpha.
  18. Hello everyone! I'm very grateful to Tom for this new feature (I mean, as the title say, the two side-by-side page view), because it's something I have ever wished to have, but I'm not entirely satisfied. The risk here is that I could seem an authentic hassle, but all I want to do is to openly discuss this topic and hear your opinions. Did you notice the gap between the pages in this new feature? I noticed this affects only vertical pages. It would be better to have two pages displayed side-by-side but without the gap between them. So magazines and comic books that share the same image or picture partly in a page and partly in the other could be viewed entirely. And e-books in general will be more similar to real books. What do you think? Do you agree? Cheers, Alpha
  19. Once I heard someone say: "Ohboyhoboyohboyohboy!!!!". I thought he was stupid. Now I realise how he felt when he was soooo astonished. It's the same feeling I have now. Thanks Tom! Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Ben!
  20. If you open your GameEx.ini with notepad, you will surely find the following lines (use the basic search feature CTRL+F to find them): StartUpVideo=C:\GameEx\THEMES\UID\Boot.avi LaunchOnStart= Try to set both as follows (assumed your file really is in C:\GameEx\THEMES\UID\Boot.avi) StartUpVideo=C:\GameEx\THEMES\UID\Boot.avi LaunchOnStart=C:\GameEx\THEMES\UID\Boot.avi I just tried with my configuration and it even works with LaunchOnStart=, I mean it was not necessary to set up a video in StartUpVideoDirectory. Let us know how this goes...
  21. Ok, the more I explore GamEx, the more I keep discovering little inconsistencies or improving existing entries. This is an updated language file to be included in the next releases. Thanks for creating GameEx, Tom! P.S.: I'm working on the translation of the Italian language file for the Setup Wizard. It's a long file, but it will be released. Cheers, Alpha. Italian.zip
  22. +1 for this! You're most likely right han. I did not try this program, but rendering is something that affects every software like this. And (I suppose) single file must be extracted (in a temporary folder or in memory) before they can be displayed. No software reads them "on the fly" (neither WinRAR).
  23. Hello and welcome to the forum! There is a topic somewhere in this place that explain how to ask for help (I mean how to give us information about your system and about your personal configuration), but I couldn't find it now. Nevermind. What you have to do is to send us a couple of files: 1: GameEx.ini that you can find in your ..\GameEX\CONFIG folder 2: log.txt that you can find in your ..\GameEx\LOG folder Since this forum won't allow you to upload ini files, you can: 1: copy/paste the content of your files using the "code snippet" button (it's similar to <>) (this method is suggested to avoid posts overflow) 2: copy the content of your files in a txt format and use the attachments button to send us your files. These files contain important informations about your configuration, that will lead as to a solution. Personally, I didn't ever used that feature, so I can't say if it's a bug or just an oversight, but most probably it's the latter. So the only thing I'm sure I can suggest you is what I explained above. It's just the first step. If something is evidently wrong with your configuration, we (I or most probably more experienced users with this stuff) could and will help you. Cheers, Alpha.
  24. Well well well, you adopted an "institutional" solution! Or an official one, if I can say so. Maybe too heavy for a PDF manager. You seem to run a relatively recent machine. Mine is an old crap. Sometimes I feel lucky I can run GameEx without problems...
  25. Or you could consider to conveniently convert your jpgs in pdf. If you are interested in this solution, visit: My linkhttp://www.jpegtopdf.com/ Personally I use Nitro PDF, It's an excellent software but it's not for free. But as you can see there are free alternatives for this.
