  1. Wow, That is super cool. I wouldnt MAME it.. Ever Cabs are a dime a dozen. To take something rare like that from nintendo and make it MAMED would be an insult to MAME. Mame is about preservation, preserving these old cabs and software... I see all these old cool games being Mamed all the time.. Pretty soon there will be nothing left-- I guess mame will have to start emulating Mame cabs. Anyways, please dont destroy that cool little cab for mame. my 2 cents
  2. Thanks guys!
  3. The chat is enabled and settings look okay... Eg nothing obvious.. Not sure. Edit: Progress made... Some.
  4. Wow, Thanks!!! Youtube support kicks ass!
  5. Thanks Guys! I had a great birthday. My kids are 3 now and have grasped the idea that if you knock on someones door and say "trick or treat" they get candy. Needless to say they were wired, and cranky. By the time the evening was over and people started running out of candy we went home. I must say this has been the best birthday yet.
  6. Merc, If you hold SHIFT while booting it WILL prompt for a username and password. This will allow you to successfully use separate accounts. It should also allow you to access your "backend" Also disable the welcome screen. Remember after "undoing" instant shellers modifications you need to do a second reboot. So, it would make running instantsheller on exit a little less appealing, but all still very possable. If you have any other questions we can give you more tips on cab administration. Personally I use VNC and administer y cab from an alternate PC.
  7. I would like to add to what Matt said. Instant Sheller will allow you to Shell per user account. So in essence you can have two accounts, one for Gameex Shelled and one for administration. When you run instant sheller you can Shell for the current user only. Thus keeping explorer as the default shell for the alt account. Side note: If you run instant sheller a second time you can UNDO all changes and get your cursor and all settings back. I usually place instant sheller in the root of my drive, then I can always CTRL+ALT+DEL and run a new task and run instant sheller with 0 navigation issues. Oh yes, welcome to the forums. EDIT: I see you replied, changing the shell from explorer will stop the start bar from loading. Most people use Instant Sheller. There is a guide here about what changes it is doing behind the scenes automatically. The biggest is changing the shell in registry.
  8. You can do that, but not how you are envisioning it. One option is (Assuming your Arcade Controls use an IPAC or keyboard controller) Configure the emulator to use keystrokes. This way your arcade stick works. Then use Xpadder or JoytoKey to map the joypad buttons to the same keystrokes the Arcade stick uses. Then you could pick up both and they would both function.
  9. I made a AHK script that will close one program and open another upon hotkey.. I'm sure it would work fine for what you want, and work better than max and min windows or alt tab. I placed the file in my Gameex directory, subsitute notepad for your jukebox program, use the fullpath The + is SHIFT Hotkey, +1, Jukebox Hotkey, +2, Gameex return Jukebox: Process, exist, Notepad.exe if ErrorLevel { exit } else Process, Close, Gameex.exe Run, Notepad.exe return Gameex: Process, exist, Gameex.exe if ErrorLevel { exit } else Process, Close, Notepad.exe Run, Gameex.exe return
  10. I dont think its a dumb question. I think there may be a resolution switching issue. It happens sometimes too when closing certian wmulators. Gameex will have to resize the desktop and such. Try (if you can) setting the resolution of your jukebox software to the same resolution as your desktop runs, then tell Gameex to run at the same resolution. That may fix it. Or perhaps a script can be written that will close each process depending on if a process exists.. EG if your hotkey is P1 and P2 start and Gameex is open have it close Gameex and launch the Jukebox, else close the jukebox and lauch gameex.
  11. Isamu, Well, I am not Tom and can not speak for him. From my personal experience MESS as an emulator is not as good as most standalone emulators. MESS is fairly new when compared to the likes of nestopia. For me when I want to play an emulated game I look for a few things in an emulator. 1)compatibility 2)accuracy 3)playability We all know MAME strives to be accurate, at the expense of integrated hacks, hardware acceleration (to an extent) or other workarounds needed to make games playable. Mess is a product of MAME (of sorts) Sure it may be accurate, but it is far from complete. It does not emulate many systems very well (from what I have tried personally) which is a deal breaker for me. I am sure as a developer if Tom were to take is time to write something up, he would like people to use it. For one, I do not know many who use MESS for more than atari. So Im not sure the demand for such an integration. lastly, the client server mame integration received less than stellar comments from some people at byoac. Mame team is very funny about things sometimes. So when we think of compatibility, the want, the work, the reward. Im just not sure if it is worth it. However, like I said I am not Tom. At the same time, we have had over 80 views to this thread and have not had an out pour over how good an idea this is. Not that I am saying its a bad idea, it just not be good timing. I can tell you that we are pleased you are enjoying Gameex, we have a great community and Tom does listen and implement features that are requested. If you like you can add your request to the feature request thread. Take care and happy gaming Brian
  12. Try this thread http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=90737.0
  13. Try putting it in here winuae/plugins
  14. Get the latest Setup.exe from the Gameex homepage and install it. The installer will install any additional run times needed. Then copy your files over from the external drive and overwrite your installation. If you want then you can Re-run setup to upgrade the version to the latest. Hope this helps. -Brian Hoffman
  15. Thanks Tom!!!
  16. Yea, there are ways to correct that I believe. I am at work now. Check inputsettings and alpha paging or something. If you cant find it I will check when I get home.
  17. Well, some people use instant sheller, then have it run EXPLORER.exe on EXIT. Some times, on some machines, running EXPLORER will NOT bring back the start menu, but rather MY Documents or explorer window. It could be that you have a service that has not started yet cause Gameex to error out. Check the Gameex log. Most commonly it is video driver type tray apps or sound apps that have not initialized fully.
  18. You can also find it by launching the Setup Wizard, Choose advance setup> Click NEXT about 8 times. You will be in Input settings. Note the screenshot for further instruction.
  19. Chriz, What button is Player 3, Joystick "right"? Are you using a keyboard encoder?--- EG the buttons type letters in notepad. Does windows see your control panel as a joystick?

  21. I don't think we would lose any users, it would really make things more organized. However with so many years of posts mixed together it would be a really daunting task.
  22. I like the idea, so I changed the MEMBERS group to be able to edit topic and description fields of thier own posts. This should enable users to edit their topic to [solved] or correct misspellings etc.. Lets give it a go and see how it is received. -Brian As far as the merging of threads go, it is really up to the users interpretation if it should be merged or not and I believe it should be the responsibility of familiar users mod or higher privileges.
  23. No, not at this moment. There are a few reasons why. First, the emulator nativly supports reading from image files. eg. ISO,BIN, ETC... So needing to mount it first is an un-needed step. next, the [virtualdrive] is limited to what the included virtualdrive software supports, which I believe is limited to ISO (I could be wrong). It may be a good option if all your images are in a compatable format. Id wait till the next version, I believe it may support CLI out of the box. Sorry mate.
  24. Frequency, Thank you for being such a positive part of the Game ex community. We all benefit from your insight and support. Congratulations!!!
