if both titles appear in the gameex list under mame just delete the one you dont require, or look at the rom names and rename gaunlets to gauntlet, but as fRequEnCy has stated check your filters and make sure its not been filtered out 1st.

Blimey i remember playing these on a Dragon32 when at Collage in the early 80s Would love to be able to play these again,specially Zork and HHGTTG ( about 1984 ) i think, any info you wish to share greatly appreciated. as i remember dumping a girl so i could go and play adventure games mind i was only 16 so what ya expect.

This Guy sounds pissed, after reading threw i was annoyed with his attitude, seems to be slating GameEx cos it wont do what he wants, if he had asked for help in the 4 years hes claimed he has been here im sure his issues would have been resolved. I'm glad we have people like draco who can keep calm about this while addressing his problems, as i don't think id stay cool. But then again that's just my opinion. +1 rep for draco1962

I to use the IPAC-2 in my custom built home made cab and it works fine, you will need to config the ipac but ultimarc supply it all on disk you just install and your ready to wire your buttons and sticks up,and use the ultimarc configure panel to assign the keys to the buttons/sticks once that is done you can configure the emulator/s and GameEX threw GameEx's wizard and as draco said help is available here as soon as you need it, but once you have the I-Pac i doubt you`ll need it as its really simple to sort, i have my joystick 2 set to scroll threw games a page at a time will left and right increase and decreases the volume, you can also assign different maps for different emulators for example ive justed installed a fruit machine, p1 starts the reels coin 1 puts money in and i have 4 buttons on p1 for the reels to hold/nudge and the buttons for player 2 is gamble/collect/hi/low all set via GameEx's advance config.As for exit normally ESC exits so i have a button programmed to do that. I dont use a keyboard on my cab anymore.

Try running MAME outside of GameEx and check and see if the game/ROM is listed if it is it will also tell u weather its compatible with the version of Mame you have as fRequEnCy stated. If its not compatible try a different version of mame. Latest version is 0.142u6 grab it here

I use an ipac-2 in my cab and never come across this problem, but i`ll bear it in mind just in case.

When GameEx boots up i have the arcade.mp3 ambient sound playing ( makes gameex sound like an arcade in your cab ) when i goto juke box and play a song then stop the track and exit back i have lost the ambient sound, i have to exit games ex and reboot GameEx any ideas?. I means its not a major problem bet when showing somebody the system and it happens its a bit of a pain.

Cheers Mike, yes i did download 11.80 directly and i did a rebooot after clearing the cache and it seems to be ok for now ( ive got most things that are crossable crossed, hoping for a good run now lol ). I`ll give it a hammering and if all is ok i`ll mark as [ RESOLVED ] Ian.

not sure if there is a problem with 11.80 ive updated and had 2 crashes in as many minutes last lines of log are 20:46:53.5 17/06/2011: Not Restoring Emulator from Cache 20:46:54.4 17/06/2011: Not Restoring Emulator Database From Cache comes up with GameEx has stopped working windows will look for a resolve box thing! and goes back to desktop where i find my background screen has gone to black and ive lost all my desktop icons , i thought when i had these kinda problems before it was my windows set up but as u know ive installed a clean win7 64 bit and uptill now ( about 5 weeks ) no problems so id say 11.80 has a problem maybe with 64 bit?. Just logged of reset and restarted and all is now ok, maybe its a case of having to do a restart for all the new changes to take effect? Do you agree that it could be a contributing factor that i dont normally reboot after an update, but seems to be ok?. Ian

Does anybody know why when we get some errors for example "gameEx has stopped running" like ive just had and we look at the log and we see ... 20:30:25.2 17/06/2011: Restoring Emulator from Cache 20:30:25.2 17/06/2011: No Database Data 20:30:25.2 17/06/2011: Restoring Emulator from Cache 20:30:25.2 17/06/2011: No Database Data 20:30:25.3 17/06/2011: Restoring Emulator from Cache 20:30:25.4 17/06/2011: Restoring Emulator Database From Cache and then no actual crash report...we delete all files conatining the word cache and it seems to work fine... cant we have the cache cleared when GameEx 1st starts up? would it resolve this constant problem that i keep seeing or am im missing summit? I have a jukebox problem, if i goto multimedia jukebox and play a song and then minimise and goto the forums like now i cant seem to figure out why when im typing my volume goes up and down, songs start and stop, if i type a word that contains x it restarts the song etc.. its as if Gameex is registering my typing and using it on jukebox ( does this make any sence ) or am i missing summit?. Nice, and as somebody once said "can life get any better?" but dont ask who as i dont know I just remember the saying..

To be honest i tryed gamebase and got very annoyed at it, as i could'nt get it to work, and as mentioned it appears to be only commodore relaited, so if you already have snaps, artwork and music i doubt gamebase really has much more to add thats relevant, GameEx gives a brief description of the game and the video snaps ( if u use them ) shows more than a 1,000 words or pictures could ever, as for music i use this and have added them to GameEx. Personnally i gave up as it seemed more hazzle then it was worth, but again every one to there own and if your a hugh commodore fan then maybe doing what AlpahUMi sujjested is the way, but again its only my opionion not to use it. On a plus thought i do agree with AlphaUMi that commodore did rule the 80s/90s i had a c64, A500, then A1200 and finally an Amiga A4000, but i`ll be buggered if i can get the damb amiga emulator working in GameEx !!!!!!, if anyone can send me a detailed set up of how to get it running id be happy to try it out, im using winuae along with a reg'd version of winuaeloader by headkaze but ran into problems and even though posting a message to HZ never recieved a reply .
