  1. Hi we1dont7die In the Setup Wizard you'll find a screen called GameEx Arcade. On that screen you'll want to set the Enable GameEx Arcade setting to No.
  2. Howdy Super12464 So is your DualShock working in other applications and/or games? I know that the DualShock can appear to be recognized by Windows and yet still not function properly as a controller. The installation of the MotionInJoy Drivers is a bit of an arduous process and it's quite a bit more involved than installing 'standard' Windows drivers. Just to double check you may want to verify that you correctly followed all the necessary steps to properly install the MotionInJoy drivers. Good luck man!
  3. Nice idea GC! Here are a few I like. I'll try to stick to more arcade style games. Braid - If there was ever a Doctor Who platformer (OK, another Doctor Who platformer - and one that was actually good), it would be something like Braid. The Bridge - I haven't played this game a whole lot yet, but it really is awesome. It's described as a platformer where Isaac Newton meets M. C. Escher. Yep that about sums it up. Choplifter HD - Great modern update to this helicopter rescue game. Enough with these cerebral thinkin' type games! Let's blow stuff up! Dustforce - This game seems to have flown fairly under the radar even for an indie game. What if instead of an alt dimension ninja infiltrator Strider Hiryu had opted for life as ... a janitor? That's this game. Half Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax Ultimate Boy - Do you like RPGs, but just don't have time for them the way you used to? How's about a game with quests lasting somewhere around the 30 second mark? Good times. Jamestown - Crazy top down old school shooting action. Bullet Hell Awaits! Mark of the Ninja - I. Love. Ninja Games. (Hey I grew up in the 80s). And this is the best one out there right now, maybe the best one evar! Fight me. So that's a decent round up for now. I'll probably post a few more later. I'm going to go play Mark of the Ninja!
  4. I thought that too at first, but then it occurred to me he might be trapped in some sort of SAW based puzzle involving GameEx?
  5. Awesome release! Thanks Tom!
  6. Glad to hear everything is working out for you stigzler! (although I have to credit Krak on the recommendation) Good on ya for putting together a guide as well. Those who give back to the community are the real stars around here. Thanks man!
  7. Wow thanks so much for sharing the photos of your vacation GC! Simply amazing! The shots of Fiesa are incredible. Looks like you had a great time. Welcome back buddy!
  8. I don't think you looked at the tools we linked to from that thread though (or else I'm misunderstanding what you're wanting to do) Simple Bezel Layout Generator v2.3 and Krak seems to like this one: Hyper Bezel II Both of those are tools for the purpose of generating your own bezels. AFAIK you would use one of those tools to generate your bezel and more importantly your .lay file. Then you would just replace the files in ...\GameEx\MEDIA\BEZELV2
  9. Hi Stigzler I'd recommend taking a look at this thread, particularly the tools that Krakerman and myself provided links for. I figure there's no point in reinventing the wheel if there are tools available to assist you in the endeavor.
  10. It might be worthwhile to give this a shot.
  11. Howdy Felix! Good to see you buddy. The "official and accepted" method of removing the nag scree from MAME is to compile your own version. It sounds intimidating at first but once you've done it a few times it's not such a big deal. Plus compiling MAME allows you to add in other non-standard functionality into MAME such as High Score support and the like. I highly recommend using Headkaze's MAME Compiler 64 for this purpose. The instructions are all there and are relatively straight forward. If your build fails for whatever reason it's not a big deal at all, you simply delete any output from the failed build and start over. Easy-peasy.
  12. Oh hey I meant to ask - Does the Windows Event Viewer show any events that correspond to this error? (you'd probably have to match up the timestamp of the event according to the time that the error occurred).
  13. Hi stigzler I know it's probably not what you're trying to hear, and I know this is a newer machine, but have you verified that your graphics drivers are up to date, along with your .NET components and DirectX? Have you also tried disabling all plugins just to see what happens?
  14. Following up on the "Logos with Characters" theme, it would actually be pretty hilarious if the Frotz logo just featured the word LAMP popping out at you in good ol' Terminal font. I'm hoping someone 'gets' that.
  15. I agree with this. I've always had my game consoles stationed underneath my TV/Display. Seeing the 2600 mockup sitting on top of the display seems like it's upsetting the natural order of things!
  16. Hi Stigzler Definitely an odd case. I would highly recommend troubleshooting with your runitgame.bat as described here (pay special attention to section B): One way to troubleshoot a problem is to add the word "Pause" at the end of the Runitgame.bat file. When Windows asks "Do you want to save the changes..." Click on "Save". Next, double click on the "Run Last Game" Icon in the Start Menu. This will send the commands again, but the command window will remain open. It may show an error that will help you to understand what is wrong. If you get this error: 'Emulator name.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. It means that either you have the incorrect name specified for your Emulator.exe, or your working path is incorrect. If it gives an error that you don't understand, please let us know that you tried this method, and let us know what the error is. So does the same thing happen if you attempt to run MAME directly from runitgame.bat? This will more accurately reflect exactly what GameEx is doing when it runs MAME. I noticed you didn't appear to have run a game in the posted log. It would also be helpful to see a copy of your log immediately after having experienced this error.
  17. Hi Fatsgt Ha, sorry about the recursive link! What a rube eh! Fixed the original post, but this is what I was trying to point you at. Looks like you figured it out just fine though. Nice job. So out of curiosity have you verified that the version of your ROM set matches your version of MAME? That might cause some problems for -verifysets depending on how big the discrepancy was. I'm also curious to see if the same thing happens if you reduce the number of ROM paths to just one? So what's going on with the two separate ROM paths? Could you get by with consolidating down to one? I'm not sure if that's the issue or not, but it might help with the process of elimination.
  18. Hi Fatsgt and Welcome to the GameEx forums! Sorry to hear about your MAME issues. When you have a moment would you mind posting you GameEx.ini and your GameEx log? This helps us to cut to the chase as it were, and saves you from answering questions potentially unrelated to your specific issue. Please check out this thread for details on how to access that information. Thanks a bunch! Edit: D'oh! Wrong link! Gotta stop drinking before noon ...
  19. Hmm ... Well I bet it looks pretty great in the operational theme, but in the static screen shot I thought it was a watermark you put in. In the end though, you need to do what you thinks looks cool (as I know you will)
  20. Very nice Krak! I gotta say I also like the centered logos as opposed to the offset ones in the earlier shots.
  21. Under the Dome has definitely been on my radar, but I've not watched any episodes yet. It looks great, and I know it was reviewed pretty well in the States, so I need to check it out. My wife is also a pretty big Stephen King fan so it's probably one that we would both enjoy. Having said that, what little I know about it does always remind me of The Simpsons movie. I'm hoping there's at least some sort of Easter Egg to acknowledge this. Man I hear you on this one so much. I'm really glad that FX renewed The Americans for a new season, but bring back Terriers dammit! And the Sarah Connor Chronicles while you're at it (which went for two seasons but still ...)

Man I'm so with you on this, although I think it has more to do with how Invision Power Board implements general Search functionality, than anything specific to this forum. ProTip: A plain old Google site search will generally yield better and more applicable Search results than the forum search. Your Google search would look like this: site:www.gameex.info Your Search Terms If you want to be official about throwing in your Request don't forget to add it to the Feature & Enhancement Requests thread.
  23. Wow! Fantastic work with this circo! Thanks for an amazing update.
  24. Please join me in wishing fRequEnCy a (slightly belated) Happy Birthday! fReq buddy this one is for you. (To the tune of Fresh Prince Of Bel Air). Apologies in advance ... Now this is the story all about how A dude named fRequEnCy made us say “Wow!” And I'd like to take a minute Just sit right there I’ll tell you how he became the king of the GameEx lair Somewhere in the southwest is where he stayed Gaining emulator knowledge is how he spent a lot of his days Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool Or maybe loadin’ up some MAME and gettin’ old school When a bunch of noobs who were not very good Started asking questions in the GameEx hood He provided helpful answers and Tom saw his flair He said, “Yo fReq you’re movin’ to the GameEx lair” So fReq fired up his cab with the shiny veneer The marquee says “Fresh” and it has lights in the rear If anything I could say that his cab was rare But I thought “Nah forget it – Yo fReq your knowledge – Please share!” He arrived on the forums somewhere in 07 or 8 And he said to the noobs, “You Holmes, I’ll fix ya emulator!” He looked at his kingdom He was finally there To sit on his throne in the GameEx lair. Happy Birthday fReq!
