For the sake of clarity, when we say Mame32 are we talking about MameUI? (And yeah I realize they're different versions of the same thing, but some people may not be familiar with the Mame32 moniker).

[RESOLVED] Launching Desmume from GameEx producing stuttery performance
nullPointer replied to stigzler's topic in General
Very curious! I did some hunting around, and it seems this problem has popped up a couple of different times. Several people seem to have reported successful resolution of the issue upon removing the Advanced Emulator Config selection. That might be worth a shot! Please refer to this thread for further details: [RESOLVED] Problem with Desmume and GameEX Things really start picking up right about here. -
Feature & Enhancement Requests
nullPointer replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
One workaround to the problem of games being listed twice, and not knowing which emulator is being used to launch which game, is to simply give each emulator its own ROM directory. Then for each ROM directory you only store those games that will be run via the corresponding emulator. That's the way I typically use the Emulator Groups feature, and it really works a treat. -
[RESOLVED] Launching Desmume from GameEx producing stuttery performance
nullPointer replied to stigzler's topic in General
What happens when you run desmume from runitgame.bat? Start desmume from GameEx, then exit the emulator followed by GameEx itself. Next navigate to Start Menu > Program Files > GameEx > Utilities> Run Last Game. This will help to rule out whether this is a problem of fighting for resources. If desmume still has stuttering issues under runitgame.bat, it will likely be a problem with either your command line, or alternately (and perhaps slightly less likely) an issue with the way desmume is configured within the emulator itself. -
Yes ... but Krak has cancelled more theme projects than most of us will ever build in our lifetimes! (Which is of course more a statement about the volume of his output than it is about actually cancelling themes).

Thanks so much for sharing the information DazzleHP! I have a funny feeling that I'll be linking back to your post when others run into the same issue. Call it a hunch!

If by "washing" you mean "blowing my mind", then YES.

Awesome! Glad to hear it worked out for you.

Hi doser1000 and welcome to the GameEx forums! It looks like you're using a map file for Turbografx-16: MapFile=[APP]\Map Files\[Console] NEC TurboGrafx-16.mapI'd start there. I'm guessing that your map file doesn't contain entries for all your ROMs. Either that or you could do away with the map file altogether, at which point GameEx will just list whatever is in your ROM directory. Good luck!

Sweet deal! And thanks for sharing your solution!

That's because you're an actual ninja KRC. As if anyone else stands a chance ...

That's actually just the verification text from the Setup Wizard. I was hoping to have a look at your Emulator Config for Nestopia. Please refer to Step 1. Post Your Config in the How to Ask For Help thread. Thanks!

Hi Mame8080! I'm guessing the fact that video snaps aren't playing is related to a codec issue. Do you have any custom codecs installed, or are you running with Windows defaults? Sometimes you may run into an issue in which videos will play fine outside of GameEx, but not within the frontend. That's where a codec pack can be of great assistance. Several of us on the forums use (and recommend) the Shark Codec Pack. The author of the Shark Codecs has gone to great lengths to insure that they install and moist importantly uninstall cleanly. It's definitely worth a shot to get those videos running! Be aware that if you're running on a 64 bit system that you'll need to install both the 32 bit codecs and the 64 bit codecs in that order. When it comes to troubleshooting emulator issues, we request that you post some information about your setup. In this case I'd recommend posting a copy of your emulator config for Nestopia. That way we can get a much better picture of what's happening, rather than playing a game of 20 Questions to determine possible causes. The How to Ask For Help thread contains instructions on how to access the requested files. Also please pay close attention to the section entitled Troubleshooting with "Run Last Game", as I suspect that following those instructions would reveal a great deal of information about the nature of your Nestopia problem.

HI steveb. This is probably due to a difference in the way the game is being run from the command line versus what the emulator does behind the scenes to load a game from the GUI. In GameEx are you mounting games to a virtual drive, or running directly through pSX? When you have a moment please consider posting a copy of your (GameEx) emulator config, as it might reveal a bit more about the nature of the issue. The How to Ask For Help thread contains details on how to access that information. This one may be tricky to track down since the issue happens after the game has already been loaded. Once it hands control over to the emulator, GameEx doesn't actually have much sway over what the emulator does next. Be that as it may, the config will likely shed some light.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Xpadder! Our very own Maestro of Plugins Adultery has written an Xpadder plugin that does exactly what you describe. See here: Xpadder Plugin (GameEx Edition)

No worries man! I just want get you up and running with this thing. It's been a long time since I used MESS, but maybe I'll have to download it give it a whirl to see what I can come up with. In the meantime I highly recommend following the steps listed in the "Troubleshooting with "Run Last Game"" section described above. As an emulator MESS is pretty good about giving you meaningful error messages, which should make it quite a bit easier to see that's going wrong here.
-
In terms of MESS have you tried troubleshooting with runitgame.bat yet? If so what did the console output say? Maybe post your emulator config as has been suggested so we can take a look? Help us help you my friend!

Sweet! Glad to hear you got it sorted out.

If RetroArch can be run from the command line, it should be able to run through GameEx.. I can't seem to find much information on it TBH, but if you have a command line that works, I'm sure we could help you set it up through GameEx.
-
I'm not too sure I'm following you, but isn't RetroArch targeted specifically for Android/Mobile Device platforms? You might be able to run it through a separate Android emulator, but ... yeah that seems like it would be a ton of work (if it worked at all), especially when there excellent Genesis emulators already available specifically for Windows. I highly recommend giving Fusion a try if you haven't already.

Based on the ROM name you posted, it appears that your set is using a non-standard naming convention. PerfectMatch is a great tool, but it utilizes DATs and XML files to rename your artwork files. This means that it sort of assumes that your ROMs are already utilizing standard naming. I'd actually consider killing two birds with one stone and renaming your ROMs to match your videos (which do conform to standard naming). PerfectMatch could handle this, but it would probably make more sense to do it with a ROM auditing tool. In a nutshell these tools will compare your ROMs against a known ROM dump, and rename them accordingly. You'll want to back up your data before you do this! For new(ish) users I tend to recommend ROMCenter. It’s a great tool to have in your arsenal. Here are a couple of tutorials to help get you started with ROMCenter: Romcenter 3 tutorial ROMCenter Wiki Another great tool to be aware of is the venerable ClrMamePro. ClrMamePro is not nearly as user friendly as ROMCenter, but it’s got a lot more history behind it, and often times you’ll see the grizzled old emulation veterans using CMP over ROMCenter. Here’s the complete guide to using ClrMamePro. Good luck man. There are several ways to accomplish what you want to do, but I think the above is a pretty good option.

You can refer to this post for instructions on how to access the requested information. Do the genesis videos have a different file extension than the other working videos?
