  1. NSFW ... And yet, surprisingly accurate.
  2. So I've mentioned in a couple of other threads that even though Star Wrs was a huge part of my childhood, I'm relatively comfortable that the current stewards of the brand will art least continue to make an attempt to produce quality output. But this latest news, is just ... well ... Damn. Konami shifts from consoles to mobile gaming as its “main platform” That's just cold, yo. No wonder their top name producers have been leaving in droves. Along with Star Wars, Konami titles really did inform a rather large part of my childhood, and it's sad to think that we may not see their legendary series live on in the way that we would like them to (or at least the way that I would like them to). How about some freemium Contra, where you can pay $5.00 to enter the Konami code? Upgrade to the scatter gun for only $5.00 more! Yeah, I didn't think so either. Thanks for all the good times Konami, and I wish you well in your future endeavors ... I guess.
  3. Glad to hear that scoobie_snack, and thanks for reporting back! I'm going to mark this as resolved.
  4. Being that Disney owns the intellectual property, I think they can pretty much do whatever they like in terms of story (so long as it doesn't infringe on the intelectual property of outside creators). It's not that they wrote the entire concept of the marriage of Han and Leia out of canon, but rather they wrote that version of the concept out of canon (along with their specific offspring resulting form their union and whatnot). I'll be pretty disappointed if they let the whole idea of the romance between Han and Leia drop, or brush it under the carpet or whatevs. I've been trying to stay relatively spoiler free though, so I really have no idea what their plans are there. Granted, I think they would lose some credibility if they started "borrowing" elements (even in a vague sense) from the EU that they were so dismissive of. Additionally if they did ever want to bring back specific details of the EU in an official sense I'm guessing there would probably be additional IP rights to work out with respective authors and so forth.
  5. It purports to be compatible with all N64 emulators that use the Zilmar plugin spec, which should include most popular N64 emulators (PJ64, 1964, etc), although I believe the PC version Mupen64[Plus] uses it's own plugin spec. Maybe it's an emulator version issue. What version of PJ64 are you running? I'd be rather surprised if a modern plugin like this, would work with PJ64 1.6 based purely on the age of the emulator. Short of that, I'm not sure what to suggest. Old OS (pre-Win7)? Missing .NET dependencies? Illuminati plot?
  6. Humble Bundle is currently holding its Spring Sale consisting of some great game deals and even $0.99 (USD) daily deals. I've already swooped up some nice bargains! Definitely worth a look if you're down with ye olde Steam/Humble Bundle.
  7. Actually I stumbled onto DaVinci Resolve at about the same time that tthurman posted it (good ol' Lifehacker!) and it looks like it might be that happy medium. It seems pretty slick although I can't find anything to indicate min specs and whatnot. I think I might go ahead and take it for a test drive! Edit: Well ... maybe not. As an aside, WTH are RED Rocket Drivers?!
  8. I don't read it as much as I used to, but Lifehacker can be a really good source of information about useful (and often free) software. This article might be of particular interest to you. Among other offerings, maybe Lightworks would be of interest to you. It sounds like the learning curve can be a bit steep, but once you do learn the software, the sky's the limit.
  9. I really endorse these games for playing so-op with young kids as well. The characters are engaging, they've got a great sense of humor that won't go over kids heads, and there's almost no penalty for losing lives. My kids love them! So does their dad!
  10. Well I need to say right out front that the extent of my movie producing skills and experience is editing and splicing together home videos. Having said that, I've been very satisfied with the features and capabilities of plain ol' Windows Live Movie Maker. I'm not sure if it will have everything you're looking for, but you absolutely can't beat the price (free!).
  11. Heh, yes sorry, please excuse the reckless idiot behind the wheel. Try this on for size: have you given it a shot with ...\GameEx\GameEx_Lite.exe (where ... is your GameEx installation path - C:\ by default)?
  12. I just had to give you some guff man. As you well know I'm not all that far behind you on the age train! At any rate I upgraded to the Beta client today! I'm still really enjoying the client. I've not seen any release notes between the beta version and alpha version, but it looks like the main update in this go round is the addition of friends and chat functionality. Fantastic! The only slightly goofy thing is that I'm relatively certain you can't search for users on GOG at the current time. That means if you want to add someone as a friend, you sort have to stumble across them in a forum post, a game review, or in the community wishlist. So that part is currently a bit cumbersome, but I'd be willing to bet they're working on improvements as we speak. I'm just still riding high after so much anticipation and waiting for the release of Galaxy!
  13. Please do provide supporting information as suggested by Draco (you can find information on how to do that here), but I do have one suggestion on the sheller issue. Go to Start > All Programs > GameEx > Other Versions and locate the version that you would like to use (maybe GameEx Lite (MAME Only)?). Right click on that version and select Send To > Desktop. You now have a new GameEx Lite shortcut on your desktop. Move it to where ever you's like, and then launch the shortcut from the sheller. These directions are using Win7, but WinXP should be pretty similar (sorry I don't have an XP machine to double check, and it's been a long time since I've used XP).
  14. Hi daimon, and Welcome to the GameEx Forums! When you have a moment, it would be awesome if you could post your support files so we can see how you're currently launching these games. This will help us make better suggestions towards a resolution. Generally the requested supporting information consists of your GameEx.ini and a copy of your GameEx log after having experienced an issue. Please review this thread for details. If I were to guess, you might want to take a look at the Show Desktop setting found on the Advanced Emulator Setup screen in the Setup Wizard.
  15. Man, I was freaking out there for a minute because I hadn't received any sort of prompt yet. Looks like they're doing an incremented roll out for alpha testers. They must be doing it based on age? I'm not sure if I should just go for an in place upgrade, but I can probably be patient and wait ... I guess. <kicks dirt>
  16. Well, that's not good. Based on Stigz DaemonTools support saga, I'm thinking the current version of DaemonTools may be a non-starter in terms of emulation. I'm thinking about doing some testing with Virtual CloneDrive or Alchohol 120% / 52%. Originally back in the old days Virtual CloneDrive was the only virtual drive supported natively under GameEx. Does anyone remember why we sort of moved away from that? Was it a spyware issue or something? I can't quite remember, but it was something like that. I think so but who knows? This post (which is more recent) says yes, whereas this one says no. @Ubes - check your PMs in a minute.
  17. So I'm looking at you configs, and I have a couple of questions. Here's what I see: [Emulator_12]Enabled=TrueSystem=NEC TurboGrafx CDCommand=pce.exe [DTLOADER-SCSI]... [Emulator_13]Enabled=TrueSystem=NEC TurboGrafx CDCommand=pce.exe [DTLOADER-SCSI] As you know I don't use MagicEngine, but I do know that at least it used to be that you had to specify a drive letter in your command for the CD based systems (as seen in this post, among others) That was admittedly three years ago, but as I noted earlier, I don't believe MagicEngine has been updated in the intervening time (unless the paid version is different). So let me ask you this, does MagicEngine work for you if you do the following: Manually mount a disc image to the virtual drive you intend to useOpen up a command prompt. Start > Type cmd in Search programs and files > click on cmd.exeType Q: and press EnterType cd Q:\Emulators\\MagicEngine in the command window and press Enter (I think you might run into an issue here, but this is exactly what GameEx is doing according to your config. If you have an issue on this step, fix up your directory path and run the command again (also make a note to fix it in the Setup Wizard as well))Type pce.exe in the command window and press EnterDid your game start? If so your command is OK, and your issue lies elsewhere. If it didn't start go back to your command window and do the following: (Repeat the first 4 steps as necessary)Type pce.exe -cd:D except instead of D use the letter of the drive you're using.Let us know if that works. I think you may just have an issue with your config. Edit: It looks like you may already be on the right path. It never hurts to try things manually though. If you're still having difficulty, do be aware that your Working Path may still be causing you issues (the double-slash thing). 2X Edit: Made a correction to the navigation commands above. Sometimes when I'm working from the DOS prompt of my memory, I miss a step! Corrected now.
  18. Thanks for the update uber. I'm going to go ahead and lock this sucker down.
  19. Yeah, I've (thankfully) not updated DaemonTools yet, but Alcohol 120% and Virtual Clone Drive are both seeming like pretty attractive options at this point. Thanks for pursuing this issue and keeping us informed Stigz!
  20. Yeah, I hear you there man. I loved The Clone Wars and to me that was one of the biggest losses in terms of writing it out of the canon. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I would guess there were more hours of the show produced than there were in the entire theatrical saga, so it really is a loss in terms of the lore. Likewise, there were some really good characters introduced in the show for which it would be good to get some closure (i.e. Ahsoka). I'm also sorry to see the continuation of the Darth Maul saga written out. I always felt like he was vastly underutilized in the movies, so it was cool how Dark Horse picked up the reins there. Ultimately though whether they are considered canon or not, we still have some really cool stories. To that end, I really like how Wookiepedia has handled the whole canon vs. not canon shift (and I'm sure it's created a ton of work for those dudes). They've re-organized their pages into 'canon' and 'legends' sections. I think that's a cool approach being that it doesn't attempt to sweep the entire expanded universe completely under the carpet. In terms of Rebels, I actually really like it, but that might be precisely because it is a good "gateway into Star Wars" for my kids. The episodic nature of the show means they don't have to have to be up to speed on the entire story arc of Star Wars, and it's not so intense as to give them nightmares. I'm going to stick with it and see where it goes. In truth there were some elements of Clone Wars that took some me some time to warm up to as well (i.e. 'overly excited newsreel guy reading the intro to every episode'), but I ended up loving it. Actually I'm pretty intrigued at the prospect of the Rogue One project as well, which I hope makes it into production. "Grim and gritty" is a completely overblown trope at this point, but we've never seen it in a Star Wars film which could be pretty great if they were able to pull it off. We also don't see enough Jedi-less stories in the Star Wars universe (IMO), so it's always fun to see the world from a different (slightly less 'supernatural power-y') angle. It could be awesome for the same reasons that Republic Commando was a great game. Hey on a completely unrelated note, Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone! May the fifth be with you! Arriba!
  21. Great thread Han! The new movie ... well it's a bit of a tough one isn't it? I'm pretty hyped ... but cautiously so. The trailers are great AFAIC, so I'm feeling more and more optimistic. The trailers are the extent of what I've seen about the movie though. I've not delved into fan analysis or that sort of thing. A lot of people were (maybe still are) upset about the Disney transition, pleased but honestly I think that's a very shortsighted view. Disney are absolute masters of marketing, branding, etc. In many ways they were early pioneers in those areas. I feel like they're not going to betray the brand (if they can help it), because the first thing they're going to do is gain an understanding of the brand. And where they don't have that knowledge, they'll hire people that do. Disney has deep pockets, and loves to make (more) money. It's not in their best interest to create sub-par Star Wars content. And it's not exactly like they can 'sell out' the Star Wars brand, because well, TBH Star Wars has always been sci-fi as marketed to the masses. That's the whole basis of it's success, and if anything I've been extremely pleased with their treatment of the Marvel brand(s). Star Wars Rebels ... I've really enjoyed the series from what I've seen so far. The characters are fairly solid, and it's a great story concept (i.e. the birth of the Rebellion). Favorite moment so far was early on: It's a great "Star Wars-lite" series that I can watch with my kids (age 6) and not worry too much about content (or loss of interest in my young ones).
  22. Awesome news! Thanks Tom and Adultery!
  23. Ah yes, sorry about that I should have linked it in my earlier post! You can do so right here.
  24. Yes that's correct, the way GameEx is currently designed is to obfuscate the underlying file structure from the end user. It could be a possible feature request though, like a directory list view or something.
  25. Sometimes a little bit of Google-Fu is all you need my good man. Depending on the exact nature of fixes you're trying to apply, this is something that is already possible in the emulator prior to bringing GameEx into the picture.
