  1. My sarcasm detector is likely on the fritz, but just in case anyone wasn't aware you can do that exact thing right over here ... Come one, come all!
  2. Glad to hear that you got this working smd111. Sorry for the late response, I just got back from a 1.5 week family trip. Thanks again for posting your solution!
  3. Heh, I'm sure you're probably right. I'm at work right now, and was going off the linked thread as a reference. [emoji14]h34r:
  4. Yes it's possible. I believe you need to press the Insert Coin button (which is generally mapped to 5). This thread has a bit more detailed information.
  5. Nice! Thanks again. One thing I notice is that the version of GameEx you're running is a couple of versions behind. Your log shows that you're on 14.20 whereas the current release version is 14.32. The functionality for GameEx Online has received some significant updates in the meantime, so my first piece of advice is to download the most recent version from here, and run an in-place update (your settings will remain unaffected). This may not be turn out to be the magical silver bullet, but it will ensure that you are completely up to date with any current bug fixes. Ultimately I'm wondering whether this might be related to the theme you are using, but let's start there and see where it lands.
  6. Thanks for posting your ini. Your GameEx log isn't a "crash log" per se and will often indicate other non critical issues that occur at run time (like possibly what the deal is with image caching issues). That's why it's still helpful information to see. Honestly that might be the most informative file to look at in terms of troubleshooting. The verification log from the Setup Wizard is also (somewhat) useful, but there are actually a plethora of factors that can cause false positives in the verification output. Long story short, we probably need to take a look at what is happening at run time which can only be seen in your GameEx log. Thanks again!
  7. Hi BlackMage When you have a moment please post both your GameEx.ini and a copy of your log after having experienced this error. Please refer here if you are unsure of how to access those files. This information may help to get a better idea of what is causing this behavior. Thanks so much!
  8. You could do your own comparative analysis by setting up MAME using both the integrated functionality and as a standard emulator. Here are some of the highlights though: Bypass disclaimers and warnings without the need for custom compiling and/or an additional external scriptSupport for the use of a default MAME bezelIntegrated support for MAMEInfo.datIntegrated support for History.datIntegrated support for HiToText (although that project has itself fallen a bit behind)Integrated support for Auto RotateIntegrated support for filtering your game list by several different criteria: (Only Vert, Only Horz., Only Cocktail, No Adult, No Casino, No MahJong, No Clones, etc.)Integrated support for Catver.ini, NPlayers.ini which automatically created categorized lists for MultiPlayer, Four Player, Vector, Neo-Geo, Atari, CPS, Golden Era, Light Gun, Trackball, etc.Integrated support for CPWizardSupport for Online ratings and Favorites listsIntegrated support for Mirrored Cocktail cabsAnd that's just off the top of my head. Sure there are other frontends which may support a few (but not all) of these things, but it's my belief that GameEx is absolutely the easiest to configure in this regard. It's easy enough for a first time user of MAME and yet robust enough to support many advanced features for power users. I feel like this conversation is starting to wander off topic towards pedanticism. It's definitely a worthy conversation to have, but we're starting to drift far a field of the stated thread topic. Long story short, displaying ROM names as part of the game info is a feature request which may or may not be supported in GameEx Evolution (your guess is as good as mine, but it's sure fun to consider the possibilities! ).
  9. Well consider it reported. If all you want to do is uninstall GameEx the proposed solution should work fine.
  10. Revo Uninstaller will handle it just fine if you're really adamant about it. Best third party uninstaller out there for my money (it's free ).
  11. Ugh. To be young and dumb. Glad to see that it didn't turn into a tragedy, but I hope he's billed for the rescue effort that would have been completely unnecessary save for his own stupidity (or at least that's how Search & Rescue works in Montana in cases where reckless behavior is involved). Also ... I am old. #GetOffMyLawn
  12. Hi Ginsonic, Just out of curiosity what happens when you run the game from GameEx without the wrapper? Does it run any differently if you put your wrapper(s) in the default GameEx location for Steam wrappers (and remove the Launch Before setting)? The default location for this is: \GameEx\MEDIA\STEAM\WRAPPERS I'm wondering whether the wrapper(s) are making things go all catty whompus.
  13. The log will also show if there's something unusual happening during GameEx runtime. It's pretty standard around here to request that users post their log and GameEx.ini when requesting assistance. It's all laid out right here actually. In all honesty your log is probably more informative than your settings file. Thanks in advance! I was also wondering this exact thing. What is the Startup Manager? If it's a standard Windows component it's something that I've not heard of.
  14. Nice! I feel like GameEx is already the most painless option for streaming my media over HTTP, so this makes that experience even more seamless. Thanks Tom!
  15. Generally if you're purchasing MP3s from a distributor, the ID3 tags will already be there with artwork. If you're building your own you can use something like Mp3Tag (which is what I use) or MediaMonkey (which is also good, but goes far beyond simple tag editing) to edit them yourself. Careful though! Once you start doing this you'll inevitably have the compulsion to clean up your entire music library!
  16. Fantastic! Thanks so much for your contributions Evilforces!
  17. Is your album artwork embedded as ID3 tags? Typically these should display OK in the jukebox.
  18. Amazing update! I love how you can just feel the inertia as we head towards Evolution. This is awesome! I can't wait to have a play later on.
  19. Is it just the artwork (snaps and videos) that are missing in GameEx, or are the games missing altogether? Occasionally I have an issue with Steam artwork in which the Store page is behind a age verification screen. In this circumstance I've had to manually download artwork and rename according to the numeric Steam game identifier of the associated game. To easily find the numeric identifier for a game in Steam, go to the Store page for the game you need, and the identifier is the last number in the address bar. For example to get the ID for Crimzon Clover: http://store.steampowered.com/app/285440 Manually adding your own artwork is a relatively straight forward affair, as it can all be found in the following directories: \GameEx\MEDIA\STEAM\ BOXSNAPVIDEOGood luck man!
  20. Glad to hear that the issue is resolved vRFasta, and thanks for the update. Happy gaming man!
  21. I think the standard advice applies here; please post a copy of your GameEx.ini and your log.txt after having experienced the error. These files may provide some clue as to what's happening here. Thanks man!
  22. We've been duped! The legacy of The Smiths notwithstanding, now we need to find some other rube to dump this Morrissey chump on! Maybe Ben will take him and we'll agree to keep Mel Gibson in continued quarantine?
  23. I believe you need to opt in for HyperSpin Platinum Membership in order to gain full access to the artwork and other HyperSpin assets (although bronze level access might get you there to some degree as well - not sure on that one). If you're interested in building up a HyperSpin Media library in advance of the release of Evolution, I think it's probably a worthy purchase IMO. Supporting the scene is always cool regardless of which frontend logo you have tattooed on your backside.
  24. My wife introduced me to both westerns (which I had never really enjoyed), and war movies (which I had watched but never really watched, nawmean?)
  25. Not stupid at all, and thanks for sharing your solution! It makes sense when you explain it, but sometimes that sort of thing doesn't sink in immediately, especially when you're just following what seems like a normal routine. Glad to hear you got it sorted out!
