  1. We accepted all of TiF's previous scores, and they still stand. Agreed some of them are hard to beat, but that doesn't make them in any way suspicious. They are genuine according to our rules and will remain the ones to beat. I wish y'all the best of luck, or skill
  2. Just to add something here, i find that changing "Hide Desktop" to false helps Fusion run somewhat cleaner - you can find it in Advanced Emulator Setup i think - running blind here
  3. This is actually a great find - i've disabled many USB/HDD settings in w7 trying for the same goal, and no matter what i try my external HDD will die and take 3-4 mins to "wake up". This becomes a major pain in ass when you need to restart windows frequently - in fact i often just pull the cable in frustration, thinking " if it dies it dies, i'm sick of waiting" Thanks for the share CGMR
  4. That's what i'm talking bout!
  5. This may be way off what your problem is, but both the Automatic artwork download in the Setup Wizard, and the "Download Artwork and Videos" or \GameEx\Download Service Utility.exe, work differently and completely independent of each other! Mixing and matching these utilities is sure to cause some headaches, so i would suggest firstly you use one or the other The integrated downloader has an advantage - it knows where your artwork is stored and will download to the locations you specify in your emulator setup. The standalone "Download Service Utility.exe" will download media via criteria, and often gets more matches, but you will need to move them manually into the directories you use. With this method you can also specify which type of media gets downloaded ie Titles, Snaps, Marquees, Flyers etc Either which way you choose, you are bound to only confuse yourself doing it both ways, at the same time
  6. The "double slashes" seem to indicate a default installation path - if you look at UNFORGIVEN's path's, they are all default Steam installations, and have the double-slashes, however, with mine and yours, only the singular slashes, coz we both have our Steam libraries installed on specific drives, in specific directories. I'd like to see some other steamdata.ini's to confirm but this is my hunch. Here's mine: steamdata.ini
  7. In fact there has been - Yesterday/Today. Tom will likely need to figure out what they did as usual and update the GX client too
  8. Also just putting this out there - do you actually own Injustice: Ultimate? Just recently Steam gave it away as a "free weekender", of which i too installed it to try it out. But Steam marks these kinds of games as something other than purchased/played/owned. I'm not sure how yet but there is something with these "free weekend" titles that they don't behave right
  9. Your "menu names" will be what ever you put as Start Page Name, and/or Title Text. You can remedy this by going back through all your emulator setups and changing accordingly, or, you can make use of custom menus, get it done in 5 mins, with the menus you want. Just saying /shameful plug
  10. Tell me about it - i am quite experienced with linux, although i wouldn't consider myself a "power user" i've had my fair share. I used it as my main OS for 3 years, only booting XP for games. Since i upgraded to W7 though i've dedicated literally all spare storage to gaming, so have neglected linux, But i want to get back into it, because well, it's fast! I know what you're saying though - linux and it's distro's, as far as they have come still need a certain amount of computer literacy to get working right, but it's only a matter of time! And with my comment, i was just suggesting that if you can get GX running in Ubuntu, you will most likely be able to get it running in Mint too, seeing as they use the same Kernel
  11. I have to stress this more often than i should really, but your mame.exe should match your romset exactly. Also so should your supporting files such as mameinfo.dat, history.dat etc. You can get around 6k good rom list using the advice linked by tthurman, which includes clones, around 2.5k if you disable clones You're not the first to get hung up on the fact that there are 29k+ roms in the full set, but you need to know that 70% of them are useless. They are either mechanical, non working pinball/slot machines or just plain nonsense that you wouldn't want on your list. Like casino/mahjong etc
  12. Nice one! Once i get my new drive i fully intend to get a linux rig up and running using Steam OS, with as many emulators as possible. For those that are reading this and curious, this should also work with Mint, with minimal if any effort
  13. I know purists will hate me for this, but Curse of Monkey Island is my fave - coz they have voices! Threepwood and Le Chuck with voices! It's like "groovy man" I'm probably a bit biased coz i still have the original discs, in pristine condition, as well as Broken Sword II (another of my all-time faves!)
  14. Is this a battle of champions i am seeing unfold here?? Nice jump MO, keep bringing it! *Updated OP, DB, RSS.
  15. This was one of them games i always meant to purchase but never got round to it! I played all the Monkey Island's and am a big fan of them, and from what has been said over years, at the time even, this is a must have. It's safe to say i'll be getting this f'sho!
  16. Hells yeah! That's exactly the point. A tip regarding the charge shot if i may: At first i know it seems useless - it takes a lot to charge and for what seems like little pay-off, but it is valuable! Firstly, it will nearly do the same amount of damage as bomb if used right. Second - it doesn't need to be charged in one hit! I think i mentioned this before somewhere, but it "uncharges" much slower than it charges. So you can charge it in bursts, keeping it topped up until the right moment Done correctly, you can safely fire it 2-3 times before the stage boss with no trouble at all! Third and final tip - the charge shot does much, much more damage to ground enemies! That includes sea faring ships/boats. Remember that double tank boss someone mentioned? Charge-Bomb-Charge-Bomb etc, gone in seconds Oh it ain't over! I promise you that I'm a bit distracted currently but know that i will be back, i'll beat Ex and he'll beat me right back i'm sure
  17. I'mma get all formal on you and ask that you provide your GameEx.ini and log.txt after you have attempted to run a game. I don't have Mednafen setup right now so can't check out your command but the obvious that sticks out to me already is you have no quotes. It's good practice to always include quotes no matter the system, because it will bypass spaces, dodgy characters etc. Try: medgui.exe -fs 1 "[rompath]\[romfile]" Base Mednafen: mednafen.exe -fs 1 "[rompath]\[romfile]" If that doesn't help i know we have some Mednafen whizzes here and i'm sure they'll sort you out EDIT: Also i'm sure a forward slash should there too. Altered Edit 2: Doh! i'm on Windows! Backslash, i meant backslash EDIT 3: Added alternate command based on nullPointer's response
  18. As a workaround before Evo, you can make use of Custom Lists (MAME only unfortunately)
  19. I don't believe this is achievable at present because of the way GameEx handles favorites and emulator vids. When GX plays a random vid on "hover" it is searching the path you have set in the emulator/mame itself. However favorites in GX don't have a set path, they are, for want of of a better word just "shortcuts" stored in a database, therefore there is no vid path to search. I hope that made sense It is a popular request though and may well show up as a new feature, who knows. If you would like to express your need for this feature then feel free to let the authors know in the Feature/Enhancement Thread. Unlike a lot of dev teams, these guys actually listen to the community, so it won't do any harm in letting your voice be heard
  20. The writing's on the wall, it won't go away. It's an Omen! hehehe

  21. Done and done. Thanks for understanding Cynicaster and resubmitting. Your score has been accepted and entered into the system. Now, with all the formal stuff out of the way - grats man! Number one. By a mile! Y'all best get yo game on coz dam... *Updated OP, DB, RSS.
  22. I'm breaking the lock on this topic just this once, because i believe that the following information will help you towards your goal. Go to Setup Wizard> Custom> Input Settings. Change Loop List to Yes. This will mean, that together with disabling your left/right movement, GameEx will simply jump to the start/end of the list instead of moving to the offscreen menu If it works you may thank me by PM if your are so inclined, if not, and you have more troubles then please start a new thread.
  23. Nice one! Stick looks ok but that gamepad is.... just... fental!!
  24. I've got to admit, carrying just GX and MAME around on a stick like that would be dam sweet! Now if someone could invent a collapsible 360 pad, i'd always keep em in my jacket pocket - in fact i would probably get out more!!
  25. Easily done, and as you confessed, you've not messed with themes as of yet - i only knew the difference because i have dabbled with themes myself. They both get referred to as "the top menu" after all! May be it's about time we came up with specific names for these two distinct menus huh
