  1. IKR! It's messed up huh! Side note - i only had a couple of tries but this game seems tough First time i played it was earlier, unfortunately wasn't one from my youth, at least i wasn't aware of it. Them scores you guys are getting... no chance for me
  2. I think Auto Updates are registered only so in this instance you will have to manually download. If you really want to move your GameEx install to a different location, i would first uninstall it (after backing up your entire directory first as Draco mentioned) and use a registry cleaner such as CCleaner just to make sure all entries are removed, then reinstall using the latest version. Bear in mind it's highly advisable to keep GameEx out of any Windows system folders, ie Program Files, Users, Documents etc as it can cause permission headaches. This is why we advise keeping the main install at the root of any drives/partitions. Once this is done, you can overwrite your GameEx.ini, Emulator configs etc with your backups, BUT as Draco pointed out - you are way behind on your GE version (unlike most programs/apps, GameEx will have 10's of updates between whole versions) so some things might need tweaking afterwards. But as long as your roms, emulators, media etc don't get moved in the process it should all be OK on the paths front
  3. Future Pinball is easier to configure as a beginner IMO.
  4. Hi Stu and welcome to the forums, Likely this will be a pipedream - sorry to be blunt there But the Wiimote as awesome as it is, is designed for specific software/hardware and doesn't translate all that well to other systems (especially older systems). I'm not a naysayer though and would never claim it can't be done, however with my experience it would be one hell of a task to pull this off - so much so that you would probably end up resenting the Wiimote as a consequence If however you think in the other direction, then a PS3/Xbox360 pad are probably your best options as a "universal" controller, particularly the 360 pad as it works with most emulators by default. Those that don't can be easily enabled using third-party software like Xpadder. I'm not a guru on this subject though, and the Wii games i emulate usually have the Classic Controller or GameCube controller enabled like Monster Hunter, GoldenEye etc. It's not unusual either to have multiple controllers attached to an HTPC - just take a look in the Gamer Rigs forum and you will find many setups that have 5, 10 or even more controllers attached and configured There may be new ways of using a Wiimote on a PC that i'm not aware of, but as it stands i would just use a 360/PS3 for everything except Wii/Dolphin, and pull 'em out when needed That's just my 2 cents though so take it as you will
  5. I had to post this because how bizarre it is! HAHA! What are the chances?! I'll do better in future of course This is why Den and i probably agree on everything 64,300 EDIT - didn't put my score which should make my exclamations a bit more obvious
  6. Just when i thought you couldn't improve on V2 you spring this on us! I love this new version - it's so crisp and polished Bravo man. I'll be keeping a keen eye on this for sure
  7. Glad it all worked out for you, and thanks for taking the time to report back your findings

  9. The two are separate, completely different commands. The "guide button" pause is completely new, but the global exit has been around for quite some time now. To configure it load the Setup Wizard. Choose Custom> Input Settings. On this screen, navigate (scroll) to the bottom half. Find "Enable Custom Joystick Controls" and change/make sure it is set to "Yes" Scroll down a little more and you will find "Global Exit" In the "Joystick Exit" section you may notice some entries by default - get rid of them. To do this, click the Browse button - you will have two options... "Clear" or "Cancel" Choose Clear. Now you have a clean slate. Click the same Browse button again, followed by the first button you want as your exit combo. Do it again, followed by your second button. You can continue by a third, fourth, etc - it's up to you. You can have as many buttons as you like, but i prefer just a simple "Back" + "Start" on my 360 pad. Once done, just boot GameEx and enjoy easy exiting And you should be able to bring up the in-game menu with the (newly added) guide button.
  10. I already have this set in Global Exit on my 360 pad - "Back+Start" and it works great
  11. HA! Beat me to it Although my version wasn't so family friendly
  12. I've had a quick scan of the site and can't get the binary to download (server timeout every time), also i can't see anywhere an indication that it supports command line. Don't take that at face value though as my Japanese is only slightly above the average joe You can however try the most basic command that GameEx will run. After you have set the Working Path and Rompath in the Emulator Setup, enter (assuming it is called "eSCV.exe"): eSCV.exe "[ROMPATH\ROMFILE]" In the Command Line section. This is just a shot in the dark as i don't have much to go on right now. EDIT - the emulator config you provided is for MESS, my instructions were assuming a separate (new) emulator config using only the eSCV emulator you require help with. There are experienced users here that may well offer advice on MESS instead
  13. After reading the instructions (no testing), i would assume that would be the correct course of action. As far as i understand it, this app only alters registry entries, meaning once you have chosen what to shell and rebooted, the program is no longer used. That is until you manually run it again. Tom's Instant Sheller works in the same way i believe
  14. EA have become a joke - buying developer companies only to scrap/cancel their works. They've done it time and time again. I have considered EA a swear/cuss word for a while now - i think it should be added to the forum filter

  16. This is the straight version - You can alter the DB's all you like but make sure they won't get overwritten. There are BIG DB updates coming in the future. You can either hold tight and accept what is coming (my preference) or alter the DB's yourself. Either way you should backup any databases you alter. /my2cents
  17. That's quite the debut you made there brienj A great entrance and a great contribution. Thanks for sharing your work with the community! I look forward to what you come up with next EDIT - Approved EDIT 2 - Might i suggest you change the title of OP to [APP] Shell Starter or something similar. It will help members find what they are looking for

That's nasty! How about Shovel Night or Chocolate Rain
  19. Hmmm, everything seems correct from your ini... The only thing i can think of right now is do your support files (mameinfo.dat, history.dat etc) match your MAME version? A quick and easy way to determine whether they are having any influence is to delete them from your your MAME Setup (remove their paths) then Update List again.
  20. I've changed my profile pic for the first time in 5 years! Don't be alarmed i'm still from hell mwahahahaaa >:]

  21. I may have been a bit hasty there - have you setup GameEx Online in the Setup Wizard? Go to Setup Wizard> Custom> GameEx Online. Enter your details (same as forum) then boot GameEx.
  22. Hi there, GameEx Online is only available to Lifetime Subscribers made after Sept 2013. GameEx Online is an Evolution feature so it's only available for pre-release testing by newer lifetime members. You can read more on member status' here And grab a new subscription here.
  23. Hi duloz, There is one statement in your OP that is causing some concern: MAME is not like regular emulators where you would just update to the latest .exe and keep on using your existing roms. With MAME your roms MUST match the MAME.exe version exactly to function correctly. You may get lucky by mixing but this is just pot luck and a sure-fire way to mess things up before you even start. Also your later comment that "I have to turn off "only existing Roms" to get it to identify anything" is setting off alarm bells in my head. It basically confirms that your roms don't match your MAME version at all. Assuming i'm correct there are two ways to go about this: 1) Find out which romset you have and acquire the matching MAME version (assuming your roms are from the same set) 2) Settle for the MAME.exe you like and "fix/update" your romset to match your MAME version We can help you with both but i think we need to get these fundamentals confirmed before moving on.
